Signed. Our Highest Recommendation. By Dean Yeagle. Mandy herself narrates the story of Dean Yeagle's commission to paint Mandy riding twelve carousel animals! From first pencil sketch to the finished works, here's a tongue-in-cheek story as she introduces herself, disrobes, poses in various positions, is introduced to a variety of potential animals who could be carousel themes...leave it to Dean to create a wonderful storyline, while exposing the lovely Mandy as the beautiful, voluptuous innocent that she is. The finished carousel scenes are in full glorious color. Abundant nudity. 2016. Mature Readers...More.

Item Code: MANGRS
Soft Cover, 8x11, 48pg, Partial Color

Highly Recommended. By Dean Yeagle. Rather than a new annual sketchbook, Dean has created a delightful story of our voluptuous and generally naked Mandy searching for just the right "birthday" suit. It's funny of course, as this veteran Playboy cartoonist has lost none of his skills, and it's gorgeously drawn, with the innocent yet desirable Mandy teasing us with one sexy pose after another. Caged Beagle, 2015. Mature Readers.

Item Code: MANBS
Soft Cover, 8x11, 48pg, Partial Color

MELANGE By Dean Yeagle Signed
Signed bookplate. Highly Recommended. By Dean Yeagle . Acclaimed Disney and Playboy artist Yeagle has collected his favorite illustrations for this beautiful collection of his work, now augmented with 32 additional pages of images. Those of you familiar with Dean's work from Scribblings # 1-3 and One Mandy Morning will know Yeagle is a master of lithe anatomy and comic timing. Laugh and enjoy with this great collection of Yeagle art and humor, now with an appreciation written by comic historian Craig Yoe. Text in French and English. Akileos, 2011. Mature Readers.

Item Code: MELAH
Hard Cover - No Dustjacket, 10x12, 160pg, Partial Color

BOMBSHELLS TWO A Terry Dodson Sketchbook Signed
Signed. Highly Recommended. A collection of Terry Dodson's art straight out of his personal sketchbooks. Collecting his previously published Bombshells Sketchbooks #4-7 plus all new material and a step-by-step of how Dodson created the wrap-around cover for this new edition. From Wonder Woman to Muse to The Red One, his work (with partner Rachael) is so much fun, full of life and full of lovely ladies. We continue to be big fans. Nice little hardcover from Flesk, done just in time for 2016's Comic-Con. Flesk, 2016....More.

Item Code: BOM02H
Hard Cover - No Dustjacket, 8x10, 48pg, Partial Color

MUSE Signed
Signed bookplate by Dodson. Our Highest Recommendation. By Terry Dodson and Denis-Pierre Filippi. Terry Dodson is already a master of the female figure, as evidenced particularly in his fine Bombshells sketchbooks. Here he's taken that eroticism a big step farther, creating a voluptuous, gorgeous heroine in a full graphic story, in the finest tradition of Dean Yeagle's Mandy, Serpieri's Druuna, John Willie's Sweet Gwendoline, Little Annie Fanny and other classics of erotic graphic stories. This is none of those, but it deserves to be in the same class: gorgeous artwork, dramatic storytelling and yet a wonderful vehicle for drawing a tall, long-legged, stunning woman either naked or in various states of undress throughout the story. Humanoids, 2013. Mature Readers.

Item Code: MH
Hard Cover - No Dustjacket, 10x13, 108pg, Full Color

Signed bookplate by Dodson! Collects Red One #1-2. Highly Recommended. By Xavier Dorison. Art by Terry Dodson and Rachel Dodson. We always enjoy Terry Dodson's work--here is a wonderful new hardcover album collecting two cool spy stories starring a beautiful heroine. What happens when America's Greatest actually a Russian Spy? Contains bonus material in an oversized European-style hardcover. Image, 2015.

Item Code: REOWH
Hard Cover - No Dustjacket, 9x12, 80pg, Full Color

MASQUERADE A Terry Dodson Signed Sketchbook
Signed. Highly Recommended. By Terry Dodson. Terry Dodson debuted this latest sketchbook collection at San Diego Comic-Con in July, 2014. This features an assortment of material including pencil sketches, ink and marker preliminaries, convention sketches, character designs and a show print drawing with the process shown in a step-by-step format. Plus finished specialty pieces for a Rose City Comic Con and a Gaslamp Quarter event in San Diego. Flesk, 2014.

Item Code: MASQS
Soft Cover, 5x8, 16pg, Full Color

Also catch up on Terry's fine graphic novel artwork for Harley Quinn 1-3, Princess Leia, and his blank sketchbook from Flesk. See all on our website.

ARTHUR ADAMS XIV 2016 Sketchbook Signed
Highly Recommended. By Arthur Adams. Each new sketchbook from Art is a special occasion for me. His detail, superbly delineated down to the nth degree--his girls, fun sexy ladies--his heroes, always uniquely his own creations. This time we have Guardians artwork, model sheets for characters Venev, Slodd and Glonth; The White Queen, Zatanna, Man-Thing, pencil pages from Ultimate X, Fantastic Four 100th Anniversary and DeadpoolGen X, Battle of the Atom, The Ape, Wonder Woman Annual, Web of Spider-Man, Ragnarok... Arthur Adams, 2016. Mature Readers...More.

Item Code: AA16S.
Soft Cover, 8x11, 50pg, b&w

ARTHUR ADAMS XIII 2015 Sketchbook Signed
Almost Gone! Highly Recommended. I love Art's work. His detail is astonishing, and there's lots here. Along with some pencilled page roughs, you get LOTS of fully inked full pages of art with sometimes dozens of characters, even hundreds on one amazing piece. Work from The Fearless, Secret Avengers, X-Men: Battle of the Atom, Uncanny Avengers Annual, Capt. American Annual, Deadpool, Booster Gold cover ideas, and several very cool beautiful ladies-and-monster themes. Arthur Adams, 2015. Out of Print. Mature Readers.

Item Code: AA15S
Soft Cover, 8x11, 60pg, b&w

Arthur's 2014 and 2015 sketchbooks are both out of print--we still have a very few left. Still at the publication price of $30.

His drawings and paintings of the artist Soey Milk. Signed and limited, 1470. Recommended. A beautifully painted, oversized collection of increasingly erotic images of William's "muse," artist Soey Milk. A diminutive but well shaped Asian model, here she poses for gentle portraits, complex illustrative tableaux, and ultimately highly erotic nudes, even with other girls and hints of bondage and domination/submission. Williams is already stretching his talent, capturing her in a variety of media and poses. It's one of the most arresting and fascinating collections of his art we've seen. ASFA, 2016. Adult Material...More.

Item Code: VIALH
Hard Cover - No Dustjacket, 12x13, 64pg, Full Color

DAWN 2016 Sketchbook Signed
Signed. Highly Recommended. By Joseph Michael Linsner. Linsner proves himself once again a master of the female form, still at the top of the good-girl illustrators. From delicious full nudes of Dawn, Dejah Thoris and others, to his patented skin-tight outfits that might as well be nude... Here too is new work including Wonder Woman, Zatanna, Harley Quinn, more with Dawn, The Sandman's Death, Princess Leia and more, including a centerfold with four favorite girls. All look to be from 2015 and 2016, including the wrap-around cover. Linsner, 2016. Mature Readers...More.

Item Code: DAW16S
Soft Cover, 5x8, 424pg, Full Color

Recommended. By Joseph Michael Linsner. Collects Dawn/Vampirella #1-5 and 15 pages of extra art & features, all by Joseph Michael Linsner, the celebrated creator of Dawn. He writes and illustrates the first-ever crossover event for his pin-up goddess, teaming her with -- and pitting her against -- horror icon Vampirella! When the silver-tongued demon Masodik kidnaps these beautiful, powerful women, he demands that the two engage in a catfight. But the ladies suggest combat in a more sophisticated way: a storytelling contest! Plus new introduction by Linsner. Dynamite, 2015..

Item Code: DAWVH
Hard Cover - No Dustjacket, 7x10, 144pg, Full Color

Still available are the Dawn 2014 and 2015 Convention Sketchbooks, $20 each. See our website for other Dawn and Linsner books and statues, the latter on sale.

Full color, finished hero and heroine portraits, which look like they were especially done for this edition: The Joker, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Cat Woman, Two-Face, The Riddler, Scarecrow, Harley Quinn, Darkseid, The Bizarro Superman, and some lovely ladies even I don't recognize. All those villains! This is fun and very, very nicely done. Cold Crocodile, 2016....More.

Item Code: AAR16S
Soft Cover, 5x8, 20pg, Full Color

Still available are his 2013 and 2014 sketchbooks, $15 each.

The book includes Edgar Rice Burroughs' Barsoomian (and other) princesses, mermaids, fairies, barbarian warrior queens, monster women, witches, interplanetary gals and more--quite a few topless or nude! Signed, numbered, limited, 950. Recommended. By William Stout. At 80 packed pages, this is Bill’s biggest, fattest collection of sketches yet! A true labor of love on his part, this entire long-awaited book is devoted to honoring stop motion animation master Willis O’Brien, best known as the man who created and animated the creatures for Bill’s favorite movie: the 1933 King Kong. Terra Nova, 2016....More.

BILL sin-KEV-itch 2016 Sketchbook Signed
Signed with Drawing! Very limited. Recommended. Bill was out of his new sketchbook at the end of Comic-Con, but we scored just eight copies with an added drawing/sketch on the back cover of each. We hope to get more of the regular edition but no guarantees, these are very tough to get and keep in stock. Wonderful new pieces with The Shadow, Mohammed Ali. Bruce Lee, Bernie (!), Charlie Chaplin, Elektra, The Joker, The TMNT team--and what appears to be several personal works Bill did for his own enjoyment. Bill Sienkiewicz, 2016. Out of Print....More.

Art Books & More

Comic Illustration Character Design. Signed with Remarque. Highly Recommended. My favorite art book from the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con is back, inspired by our using his new work from Monsters & Dames 2016 on the cover of our Summer 2016 catalog. This is a full color and very impressive 140-page art book of comic illustration and character design. The work is gorgeous, particularly his beautiful Asian ladies. His designs incorporate beautiful ladies with everything from skeletons to dragons and animals. I love his depictions of the elements and the Zodiac. Each of our copies are signed with a nicely detailed large original ink drawing! Flag Studios, 2012....More.

Item Code: ARTDAXH
Hard Cover, 9x11, 138pg, Full Color
Daxiong's wonderful fantasy piece from Monsters & Dames 2016 is on the cover of our latest catalog. It was fortuitous that he was at Comic-Con with his art book that we first stocked four years ago, so he drew a piece for every one and we brought more copies in.

RGK The Art of Roy G Krenkel
Back in Stock. Our Highest Recommendation. Commentary by Al Williamson and Frank Frazetta. Initially working in comic books in the 1950s, including work for EC's sci-fi titles with Williamson and Frazetta, Roy Krenkel soon moved into digest and book illustration, and finally fine art and book covers. Commissioned to draw the covers for the Ace Burroughs paperbacks, he couldn't keep up and brought friend Frank Frazetta in to help--and thereby began Frank's cover career! Seemingly never on the A-list, he nonetheless produced some exquisite work and it's nicely featured here, with superb reproduction. Vanguard, 2005....More.

Soft Cover, 9x11, 136pg, Partial Color

News and Notes

I have now exhibited at 47 consecutive San Diego Comic-Cons! Our sales were just a tiny bit less than last year, but we did it with an entire booth less—from three last year we dropped down to two this year. So actually that makes this year a bit more profitable—last year was barely so, after all the costs and enormous amount of labor, including the five of us (Joe, Anne, LaDonna, Diane and I). Plus a wonderful fellow fan and friend, Henrik, who comes all the way from Denmark and helps us. Anne and I did quite well again with the out of print books. As the people change who come to SDCC, we’ve also reduced the space devoted to this, now just a third of one booth. We sold everything, from collectible Arthur Rackham to an early R. Crumb print (Tommy Toilet), Neil Gaiman, the 1940 Fantasia Program Book, old comics, pulps (three to artist Mark Schultz)...

For my own collection, I found LOTS of Golden Age comics—best up, Amazing Mystery #24, last issue, with Wolverton Space Patrol, 2 panels were cut out of another lesser story. Just happy to find it. A rare one from Centaur. Also some wonderful nice condition Freelance Robin Hood and Grand Slam/3 Aces, the full color Canadian issues from the last of the WECA period. I hope someone will reprint these one of these days. A nice early Detective Comics #111, a Superbly #2, a rare Cyclone #5 (1940) from the tiny, short-lived publisher Bilbara—with art by Catman’s Charles Quinlain.

I also found a fun Flash Gordon giveaway package from Sylvania in 1952, with Murphy Anderson artwork on the envelope. It’s still sealed, with a mess of color cardboard goodies inside, such as a ray gun and cap. But I’ll have to steam it open to get a look. We found several images on line, so I had some idea of what’s inside!

And I’m hot after Silver Age DC westerns like All-American Western and Western Comics, with work by Gil Kane, Carmine Infantino and Alex Toth. Also pre-code and Silver age Atlas/Marvel westerns like Rawhide Kid, Gunsmoke Western, Wyatt Earp, Kid Colt, and Two-Gun Kid. Found a good batch of these, I’m trying to snag them before prices jump up like they have already on horror and sic-fi Atlas titles. Nice John Severin covers, Jack Kirby, Joe Maneely, even Russ Heath and Syd Shores to be found in these.

I’m going to post a bunch of my favorite new comics to Facebook in case you want a peek, along with some comments. I can’t escape the collector in me that wants to share...

Found some out of print IDW Artist’s Editions that I’ll list shortly. Even a copy of Stan Lee’s Secrets Behind the Comics that always sells for us (I ordered mine from a local bookstore in San Jose back around 1966, I think I paid $1.50 or something for it). Oh, and Paul Levitz has an article on the origins of the Direct Market in the new Overstreet Price Guide. He mentions the shop I co-founded in 1968, Seven Sons Comic Shop, as well as Comics and Comix (1972) and my working with (my mentor and good friend) Phil Seuling in the early days of the Direct Market. Overstreet really does pack in the special features in these, including more 75-year features, such as one on Plastic Man (a favorite of mine).

I really, really enjoyed the new Legend of Tarzan film—I just saw it last week. It is co-produced by Dark Horse’s Mike Richardson. It may be my favorite Tarzan movie ever—really. It is so true to the original ERB characters, and totally respectful of the African natives, including Tarzan’s friends the Waziri tribe, and to Jane, who is a feisty, smart, fast-thinking heroine who is no shrinking violet... Even the animals are treated with great respect and dignity. Anthony Tollin (Sanctum) and my other ERB friends have all said nothing but good things about it.

The beautiful actress who plays Jane, Margot Robbie, is also playing Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad. Boy is she a different character there. She’d even put on weight to play Jane, since no Victorian-era woman would look like the buffed out, slender little Harley that she portrays in this latest film. If your Harley interest is piqued, check out our Harley statues and graphic novels.
