GEORGE BARBIER Master of Art Deco

But to this day, very little has been written about this. This fine new book is based on an exhibit that originated in Japan, collecting a once-in-a-lifetime abundance of his original artwork. The Rose City Book Fair in Portland went very well for us. It was the first time we've exhibited there. I got reacquainted with a number of old friends from both the book and the comics world, including Steve Duin. Steve co-wrote Comics Between the Panels with Dark Horse president Mike Richardson a number of years ago and I was one of many fans and pros he interviewed for it. We even worked out a trade for several Golden Age comics. I'm posting some pictures on our Facebook page, and will have a further report when I get back home next week. Next up is a visit with Mr. Monster's Michael Gilbert, who lives in Eugene, Oregon.

LINE OF BEAUTY The Art of Wendy Pini Deluxe Signed
Signed, limited, 500! With individual print and 16 page bonus section. Edited by Richard Pini. The term “line of beauty” describes, in one sense, a certain way of arranging lines and shapes in a drawing or painting to suggest motion, dynamic balance and grace. But in a deeper sense it can also speak to the visionary spirit that drives the creation of a piece of artwork. Whatever that spirit is, Wendy Pini demonstrates that she has had it from the moment she was delivered into this world. Given up for adoption at birth, she has been on a quest ever since for those things most of us take for granted—family, tribe and community. The search has taught her about love and loss and, above all, the power that comes from hearts and minds united in a single dream. Flesk, 2017...More.

This encompasses the famous Hank Janson novels, dozens of other outstanding pin-up style and erotic covers, plus his less-well-known but equally exceptional work for adult hardback fiction dustjackets, children's books and periodicals.
