TRUE DEATH OF BILLY THE KID
Recommended. By Rick Geary. William H. Bonney went from cowboy and rancher's gunslinger to a pure outlaw, dodging justice in New Mexico before it was even a state. He was charming, fun-loving, often present at social events, quite appealing to the ladies. But he had no compunction about coldly killing a man, a sheriff, a deputy—anyone who got in the way of his rustling cattle or horses for an illicit living. He also proved hard to keep in jail once he was caught. It is probably his daring escapes from jails that made him most famous, and this is the main focus of this biography. NBM, 2018...More.

LOVECRAFT THE MYTH OF CTHULHU
Our Highest Recommendation. By Esteban Maroto. The amazing fine-line illustrator, well-known for his work for Warren and Vampirella, here adapts the first three of H.P. Lovecraft's most famous stories involving the Cthulhu Mythos. Created originally for an aborted French project many years ago, this was printed in the U.S. only in a limited-distribution edition by Cross Plains Press in 2000, translated at that time by Roy Thomas. Maroto was very specifically asked to make his monster look like Alex Niño's--who is a good friend, so with Nino’s approval, he did! It’s the best of all worlds: Maroto's beautiful rendering, epic Lovecraft storytelling and the origin of Cthulhu...and Niño-style Elder Gods and dark horror! IDW, 2018...More.

Filled with sketches, water colors, pen and ink roughs, from his comic book days (Hawkman, Avon covers and those lovely ”contents pages”), to studies for comissions of famous people, include presidents and Dr. Seuss. Upcoming Book and Comics Shows

I’m afraid I will not be exhibiting after all at the March Vintage Paperback Show in Burbank. I got the flu in January, and after driving to Los Angeles twice already this year, I just can’t do another show down south.

Thanks to many of you who came by the Pasadena show and visited. I was pleased to talk to quite a few customers who keep up with this weekly email.

It was a good show, even though Anne and I were both just getting over having the flu. So we were not at our best, but it worked out. I’ll post a couple great books I got for myself on our Facebook page as soon as I can. See our Facebook page right here....
