BATMAN THRILLKILLER
Collects Thrillkiller #1-3 and Thrillkiller '62, 1997-98. Highly Recommended. By Howard Chaykin. Art by Dan Brereton. Eisner-nominated. Behind-the-scenes unpublished artwork and new Introduction by Chaykin. The year is 1961. The gorgeous Barbara Gordon is Batgirl and her lover is Robin, sans his costume, clad in a cool bomber jacket. And he's a man here, at peak form and out to kill, literally, the killers of his circus-performing parents. A very un-Batman-like story. It's a grim tale, as Chaykin says, more of a crime novel than a conventional Batman story. It's rich and moody and sexy and very offbeat, and if you've never read it, now's the time to treat yourself to an amazing, powerful story. DC, 2018...More.

A massive, oversized 250-page graphic novel written by the famed French creator of The Metabarons and collaborator with Moebius on The Incal, Angel Claws and Madwoman. The arrival of the mute "wave tamer" Moon Face turns the tiny island of Damanuestra upside down, threatening the oppressive political and religious hierarchies. Mature Readers

Just in is the conclusion of the BDSM erotic fantasy, Sunstone. This is a very unusual novel. On the one hand, it's about two women who explore bondage, domination and submission with each other...then with other partners. And that is where this not only gets tough on our ladies, but it expands the story to make it much more than just an exercise in erotica. In some ways, it reminds me of Strangers in Paradise, if the two leading ladies were doing the same number. The artwork is lush and very well done. This can be enjoyed on several levels, and is highly thought of online by (even) the women's community! Volume One is also available.

Roy Stuart: Embrace Your Fantasies is a project that was done with Taschen sex editor Dian Hanson, back when she was involved with The Leg Show magazine. It's erotic scenarios: submissive girls, two girls together, threesomes and foursomes, dominant ladies with submissive guys... Accompanied by prose also, it's an unusual set of fantasies photographed and collected here. See more by Roy Stuart and Dian Hanson on our website.

News and Notes

Steve Ditko

Steve just passed away on June 29th, at 90. With all my years, even going to shows since 1968, he remained one artist I never had the pleasure to meet. But many folks do have stories, and I’ve caught some of these and shared them to our Facebook page. They portray a unique but surprisingly outgoing and friendly character, not the curmudgeonly stereotype we often hear of. It’s also wonderful to see the outpouring of appreciations of his work.
