THE PRISONER Original Art Edition
Recommended. By Jack Kirby and Steve Englehart. Art by Jack Kirby and Gil Kane. Edited by Archie Goodwin. Drawn by two of the true great comic book legends, Jack Kirby and Gil Kane, this is a facsimile collection of a ”long-lost,” unpublished legendary comic book based on the cult classic 1967 British TV show, The Prisoner. The amazing television series was co-created, written, and directed by the star, Patrick McGoohan. This was a well-done but ultimately aborted project, by two of comics‘ top creators at the time. Includes complete script, page breakdowns with original pencilled art, all finished art and all art in pencils. Titan, 2018...More.

Hard Cover - No Dustjacket, 13x17, 64pg, b&w

See our website for more Jack Kirby, including other Artist Editions. And see here for ALL available Artist Editions, as well as Gallery Editions and Archival Editions. From the same publisher, and still available is Charles Vess' The Book of Ballads and Sagas Original Art Edition. Unsigned [BBSAH. $75] and signed and limited to 550 [BBSHS. $100]. We have just four copies of this left.

Highly Recommended. By Jorge Zentner. Art by Rubén Pellejero. A beautifully told story highlighted by superlative artwork, which reminds us of Alex Toth's work. Coloring is simply incredible also. A sweeping and poignant story of Jews fleeing the Russian pogroms at the end of the 19th century, from the perspective of young Malka as she grows up. For the family of the little red-head, trading Russia for the Argentine pampas isn't so easy. But it goes pretty well for young Malka. But mixed in with several other interesting other subplots is the one big one. A "friendly" golem, to make ends meet in the fields. But it all goes incredibly wrong in a surprising twist. IDW, 2018...More.

This is another outstanding book that I can't say enough about. See the other fine books in IDW's Eurocomics series on our website.

Set of four variant covers--interior is the same--by Johnny Desjardins, Christian Ward, Butch Guice, and Natalie Sanders. Recommended. By Mike Carey. Art by Donny Hadiwidjaja. Barbarella is about to be killed by her jealous lover, a giant blue man, but she casually tells him she had worse results after sex. Like a Thousand and One Nights, she proceeds to relate the story of crash-landing on a planet with no animal life, only vegetation, but with vegetable creatures who also have erotic designs on our lithe young lady, that she reciprocates. And we have two more tales of strange love, before she gets herself out of the frying pan. A fun little stand-alone tale. Partial nudity, adult situations. Dynamite, 2018. Mature Readers...More.

Item Code: BAR08P
Soft Cover, 7x10, 32pg ea, Full Color

All sets #1-7 are available at the same price. Early issues are out of print, so we are limited by what we have left on hand. See more Barbarella on our website, and also find the other “comic sets” of the Bettie in Hollywood series, also with variant covers.

Two new Complete Valerian Collections

Collects Books #9-12. Highly Recommended. By Pierre Christin. Art by Jean-Claude Mézières. This volume contains books 9 to 12 – two unmissable two-parters that represent a turning point in the story of our agents, and which are widely considered by critics and readers alike to be the pinnacle of the series. Characterized by a return to 20th century Earth, these two stories are suffused with incredible melancholy and poetic charm, and force Valerian, the action man, to face his limitations. As the real date neared 1986, the final year of our world according to the authors, Pierre Christin reconciled fiction and reality with consummate skill and daring, sweeping aside the status quo and sending his heroes down a completely new path. Cinebook, 2018...More.

Item Code: VAL04H
Hard Cover - No Dustjacket, 9x11, 224pg, Full Color
$29.99 $26.99

Collects Books #13-15. By Pierre Christin. Art by Jean-Claude Mézières. In this volume of the Collection you will find books 13 to 15, and our heroes' life has been irretrievably changed with the disappearance of future Earth and Galaxity. Lacking work, they become freelance spies in the 80s in On the Frontiers. Lacking money, they're reluctant arms dealers in The Living Weapons. Lacking options, they turn investigators slash bait on corrupt Rubanis in The Circles of Power. The apparent descent into hell of the two former agents is the chance for the authors to study the ambiguities of our world, either directly or through the lens of alien civilisations; along with the ambiguity – pragmatism versus heroism – of the titular character, saved from a fall from grace by his ever irreproachable partner. Cinebook, 2018...More.

The first three collections are all in stock at the same discounted price. See our website for the individual issues through Volume 21, plus the Valerian Companion. These are wonderful stories and I've thoroughly enjoyed reading them all again in these new editions. The film captures the magic of the series well, and I recommend anyone reading this to see it.

The Little Book of...

Highly Recommended. By Roy Thomas. If anyone knows the history of the X-Men, and can offer it to you with text and abundant artwork--it's Roy Thomas. From writer to editor in chief, he was Stan Lee's right hand man. Roy continues to write, as well as publish Alter Ego, the finest magazine ever covering the history of comics. So...Join Roy for a trip beginning with the X-Men debut in 1963. They weren't instant sensations like the FF and Spidey, they had their ups and downs. At first. But they became the most exciting property in comics. Taschen, 2018...More.

Highly Recommended. By Roy Thomas. From writer to editor in chief, Roy Thomas was Stan Lee's right hand man. Roy continues to write, as well as publish Alter Ego, the finest magazine ever covering the history of comics. He like few others knows the ins and outs of Iron Man's history. Iron Man made his debut in 1963, in Tales of Suspense No. 39, wearing a cumbersome gray exoskeleton that looked more like a robot than a man. After a re-design, he became an integral member of the Avengers, and he fought evil at every turn ... as well as intense personal demons. Taschen, 2018...More.

Highly Recommended. By Roy Thomas. If anyone knows the history of the Hulk, and can offer it to you with text and abundant artwork--it's Roy Thomas. From writer to editor in chief, he was Stan Lee's right hand man. In 1962, the Hulk was created by exposure to gamma radiation in Incredible Hulk  #1. Though it took a few years for him to develop his now-famous personality, he was nonetheless a weapon of destruction from that first appearance. Taschen, 2018...More.

MARVEL MASTERWORKS Captain America Volume 10
1975-76. Recommended. By Jack Kirby. It's the return of the King! In 1975, Jack "King" Kirby returned to Marvel and his iconic creation Captain America. As writer, artist and editor, Kirby created an intricate storyline that built month after month toward America's bicentennial and Captain America #200. The "Madbomb" saga featured an aristocratic cabal seeking to wrest control of the country by possessing the American people's minds and driving them to insane outbreaks of violence. It's an Orwellian adventure done Kirby style, and there's nothing else like it. Marvel, 2018...More.

Warehouse Find, 1993! Limited, 2000. By William Timlin. A reprint in reduced facsimile of The Ship That Sailed to Mars (1923), Timlin describes in detail the fitting up of a spaceship and its trip to Mars. But Timlin's astonishingly evocative illustrations to the text, for which the original quarto edition of the book is now heavily collected, strongly underline the surreal nature of the tale.
