THE ART OF IAN KENNEDY
Highly Recommended. By Grant Morrison and D. Broadbent. Introduction by Jeremy Briggs. In his first major collection, one of the stalwarts of British comics. Rarely seen original pages, dozens upon dozens of superbly rendered full color cover paintings and much more an illustrious career at DC Thomson. Seventy years of work from the pages of publications as diverse as The Topper to Warlord, Lucky Charm to Starblazer, set out chronologically from early but very competent 1950s comics, through decades to the present day. Kennedy also produced many covers over the years for different comics and annuals, working mainly in acrylic paint. His color work is brilliant; his action scenes are outstanding. You can quickly see why he was always in demand, creating exciting comics and covers for the top British series. DC Thompson, 2024....More.

PINOCCHIO An Illuminated Edition
Our Highest Recommendation. By Carlo Collodi. Art by Mike Mignola. Introduction and notes by Lemony Snicket. Mike Mignola (Hellboy) and Lemony Snicket (A Series of Unfortunate Events) invent an entirely new vision of Pinocchio!! This classic stands as one of the strangest and darkest texts ever, yet still beloved by generations of children. Now it receives full-text annotations (as special inserted pages!) from one of our great contemporary children's authors, and over fifty illustrations from one of the modern masters of visual storytelling. Mignola and Snicket walk us through the wilds of Collodi's masterpiece. Beehive Books, 2024....More.

Item Code: PINOCH

Edgar Rice Burroughs

EDGAR RICE BURROUGHS UNIVERSE A PRINCESS OF MARS Shadow of the Assassins Hardcover
Includes bonus John Carter novella. By Ann Tonsor Zeddies and Geary Gravel. Cover by Douglas Klauba. Dejah Thoris, fairest daughter of Helium, sets off on the first adventure of her young life, plunging headlong into a murky den of treachery and deadly peril. Defying her father and traveling to a foreign city, her hosts are not like the gallant folk of Helium. Their nefarious machinations ensnare her in a tangled web of artifice and murder — and a treacherous plot against the entire empire. ERB Inc., 2024....More.

Item Code: ERBPMH
Hard Cover, 7x9, 288pg, Text/b&w
$36.95

Also available in softcover. The hardcover has no text on the backcover, but is otherwise the same, in jacket. Both editions include a bonus J. Allen St. John trading card, while supply lasts. [ERBPM. $21.95].

This is a unique story of Dejah Thoris as a young woman, long before John Carter came to Mars to meet her. The bonus novella stars John Carter who is tracking down his son’s lost speedster, found flying full speed across the Martian landscape with no one on board. I particularly like Douglas Klauba’s cover for this, it nails a young and troubled Dejah Thoris.

WOMAN & MAN+ Signed
Recommended. Woman & Man is a wildly surreal autobiographical telling of its artist, publisher, editor and artist Craig Yoe, losing his love, his country, and, some say, his sanity — and his struggle to reinvent himself. His passion for drawing comics was sidetracked for over a half a century by a career as a creative director for Jim Henson and the Muppets, Disney, Nickelodeon, and MTV. Coming back to his roots, he now dives deep into sex, horror, and drama, with a hint of humor and a whiff of hope. Clover Press, 2024. Due: Nov....More.

Hard Cover, 7x10, 168pg, Partial Color
$49.99 $45.99

BILLI 99
With José Villarrubia and Sarah Byam. Set in 1999, Billi 99 embodies a cautionary tale in which corporate greed and corrupt government affected an America very much like our own today. With that, they posed the question, what is power when everything has been taken away? 200 pages of breathtaking, lovingly painted, duo-shade art, with the hand lettering that would become Tim’s official font. Nominated for three Eisner awards!! Clover Press, 2024. Due: Nov....More.

Item Code: BILLIH
Hard Cover, 7x11, 232pg, Full Color

DONALD DUCK The Ultimate History
Recommended. In true Taschen fashion, the end-all book on Donald! Nothing succeeds like success, as the saying goes, but in the case of Donald Duck the opposite is true: the candor with which Donald reveals his weaknesses wins our hearts and stays with us forever. Revisit Donald’s life’s work from nine decades in one of the most expansive illustrated publications on the Disney universe. Following Taschen’s Mickey Mouse: The Ultimate History, we witness the career of Mickey’s only rival for the throne as Disney’s most popular creation. Taschen, 2024. SCHMELTZ Paintings
By Bruno Schmeltz. The 49 color illustrations by Bruno Schmeltz are like a surreal narrative story, dealing with giant monolithic blocks, construction of new structures, and people, including many voluptuous nude women, gloriously bathed in bright sunlight. The images and people are Jewish and/or Arab, the setting is the Middle East. It's like a tale of modern Palestinian and Israeli settlements juxtaposed with antiquity, by way of the huge stones. Ramsay, 1991. Out of Print. Condition: Fine minus. Spine corner bumps and two scratches across the cover....More.

SYMBOLISM IN BELGIUM Belgium Art Of Our Time

Laconti, 1972. Out of Print. Condition: Near Fine....More.

JOHN HOWE Sur Les Terres De Tolkien
By Stéphanie Benson, Christopher Lee, Christophe Gallaz, John Howe. French Edition. John Howe, in an obscure way, penetrated the work of the writer, went to dig in the words, to the bottom of the hobbit-hole, to the first intention. Somewhere, during his travels between words and image, he found the door to access Middle-earth, like the cupboard that allows to visit Narnia, and he decided to cross the threshold. John Howe, the happy man, walked the streets of Edoras, heard the trumpets of Minas Tirith, met Treebeard and the last Ents, smoked a pipe with Gandalf; he stood before the towers of Gondor and witnessed, no doubt in terror, the last battle against the forces of Mordor. L’Atalante/L’Office régionale culturel de Champagne-Ardenne, 2002. Out of Print. Condition: Very Fine/As New...More.

From 1956 to 1963, DeCarlo also produced hundreds of pin-up cartoons for the Humorama line of girlie digests, where his line drawings and exquisite ink-wash paintings shared the pages with Jack Cole, Bill Ward, and Bill Wenzel, and photos featuring Bettie Page. THE PIN-UP ART OF BILL WENZEL
By Bill Wenzel and Alex Chun. Though wasp-waisted long-legged women were derigueur in the digests, Bill Wenzel set himself apart from the rest of the best with his decidedly more Rubenesque rendering of the female form. Without a doubt, Wenzel is the most overlooked of all the pin-up cartoon artists of his era, but with this volume, which features a selection of his sexiest and most sensual ink-wash images, Wenzel takes his rightful place among Humorama's top artists.
