FORGET-ME-NOT
Recommended. By Claire Wendling. Forget-Me-Not is a collection of all-new drawings completed between 2014 and 2016. 162 drawings, plus 16 pages of sketches and roughs. These drawings have never before appeared in print. In addition, Claire has written a heartfelt introduction in English: a direct message to her legions of fans around the world. Forget-Me-Not is the same size and format as Iguana Bay 2.0, but with nearly twice as many pages! Quite a bit of nudity. Fairies, trolls and strangely appealing creatures. Stuart Ng, 2016. ILLUSTRATORS QUARTERLY #16
Highly Recommended. With Neal Adams, Paul Slater, Cecil Glossop, Will Davies, Mort Künstler. Long, entirely up to date cover feature on comics great Neal Adams with lots of reproductions, some from original artwork. A major retrospective. Paul Slater might just be the British equivalent of Robert Williams--zany, surreal, and fun. Also new to us is Paul Davies, once Canada's highest paid illustrator, and his nudes and other portraits of North American women. And Cecil Glossop, portraying pirates for boy's magazines 50 years before Johnny Depp stepped onto the stage of Pirates of the Caribbean. Book Palace, 2016...More.

TRANSCENDENT LUXURY German Art Deco Poster Masterpieces 1912-1927
Recommended. Thomas Negovan. Rare and beautiful artworks from the Golden Age of Vintage Poster Art. During and immediately following The First World War, advertisers in Germany presented romantic elegance in a manner that bridged the sinuous lines of Art Nouveau and the hard lines of the Art Deco period to achieve a unique style that would inform the rest of the century as a pinnacle of graphic design.  This book presents a collection of gorgeous, beautiful, high resolution photographs  that gives insight to the opulent aesthetics of the era. LE PATER ALPHONSE MUCHA'S SYMBOLIST MASTERPIECE
Our Highest Recommendation. By Thomas Negovan. By 1899, Alphonse Mucha had experienced four years as the most recognizable proponent of Art Nouveau graphics and the most celebrated illustrator in Paris. The massive output in the advertising and decorative work earned much for Mucha's publisher but very little for the artist himself. So Mucha insisted upon the release of a deeply personal work, and printed 510 copies of what he for the remainder of his life considered his works-on-paper masterpiece, Le Pater. His  Symbolist masterpiece features a female deity protecting humankind, and a number of sophisticated occult themes across a series of images of mystical illustrations. Century Guild, 2016...More.

FOUR COLOR FEAR Forgotten Horror of the 1950s

COMPLETE CREPAX The Time Eater & Other Stories
Recommended. By Guido Crepax. Spanning the 1960s–1980s, this erotic, science-fiction-themed second volume of the complete Crepax library features, in addition to adventuress Valentina, two more of the famed Italian erotic artist's heroines. Marianna is a mysterious friend of Valentina's (or is she? And why do they look so alike?). Belinda is a motorcycle-driving, pop art action star inspired by then-contemporary characters like Barbarella. In The Time Eater, Valentina meets a curious couple in an asylum, encounters strange creatures on a photo assignment, is caught in a Rube-Goldberg-like death trap, and much more. Fantagraphics, 2016. COMPLETE CREPAX: Dracula, Frankenstein & Other Horror Stories
Recommended. By Guido Crepax. One of the most acclaimed cartoonists in the world. In the 1960s and '70s, he created and chronicled the adventures of Valentina, arguably the strongest and most independent female character in European comics up until that time, and legitimized the erotic genre. This features his unique take on the works of Bram Stoker and Mary Shelley, but also six highly erotic Valentina stories, several never before collected. Fantagraphics, 2015. Mature Readers...More.

And it's amazing work, featuring our host Dr. Haunt. Collects #65-70, 1958. Recommended. By Richard Hughes, Ogden Whitney et al. Tales exploring the supernatural, science fiction and more. More very readable, poignant and fun stories by the great writer/editor Richard Hughes. Whisked back to Egyptian times; seeing your mirror image as an oldster, lost on a planet of giants, or a giant among tiny aliens, apparitions, test pilot to a different dimension. Obviously sci-fi was popular in 1958, sparked by the Sputnik, and you'll find a lot of cool stories here. News and Notes

As I reported last week, we are working through losing our primary server and old inventory software on December 22. Orders are getting shipped with no problems—well, no problems more than a lot more hand-labor on our part. We're working through bringing up a new, more modern software system in record time instead of as it was planned, over the space of several months.

We are still have having difficulty bringing up any advance orders (backorders) you may have placed so we can ship out new arrivals. We hope to have this solved shortly. But shipping out backorders for some items, like Drawing From History: The Forgotten Art of Fortunino Matania, has been unfortunately delayed.

We hope to have this fixed in the next few days and to get any backorders shipped out. If you have any concerns, such as seeing an item that we have listed recently that you had on backorder, do call us and we'll give you its status. Thanks again for your understanding.

~Bud
