SKY MASTERS OF THE SPACE FORCE The Complete Sunday Strips in Color
New Edition, larger size with 16 bonus pages in color. Our Highest Recommendation. By Jack Kirby and Wally Wood. The Sky Masters of the Space Force newspaper strip is one of the most fascinating and obscure works by comics legend Jack Kirby. Created and developed by Kirby with writer Dave Wood at the beginning of 1958 while Kirby was working for National (DC), the Sky Masters daily strip debuted on September 8 of that year. Five months later, on February 8, 1959, the color Sunday strips arrived featuring a totally independent story line from the dailies. The strip narrates, with a realistic approach, the adventures of Major Sky Masters during the early days of space exploration in the late 1950s, just as a new front opened in the Cold War between the U.S. and U.S.S.R.: a frenzied space race. Big Wow Sketchbooks

We just picked up a selection of scarce signed sketchbooks going back to 2002. They’ll be on the website shortly: Dave Stevens, Edwardo Risso, Jim Silke, Pablo Marcos, Juanjo Guardino. Mathiew Lauffray and Tony Dezuniga.

Act now, some may be in very short supply. Full listing will be in next week’s email.

Diamond News

Alliance Entertainment is said to have won the bid to purchase Diamond Comic Distributors as of this week. They bid quite a bit more than anyone else, which may mean more money to pay off a greater amount to Diamond’s creditors. Our hope is that they will smoothly take over Diamond, keeping much of the staff as-is and continuing to publish Previews.

We stepped in and took over both Pacific Comics in 1984 and Alternate Realities distributors in 1987, when each one declared bankruptcy, and that is how it worked for us, with no problems continuing to provide material to their accounts. We, of course, sold out our distribution portion of the business to Diamond in 1988 while we continued this retail portion, that you still see today.

We still buy a handful of titles from a few smaller companies distributed by Diamond—so far, we’re still getting our orders filled for the most part. Most of our material comes direct from publishers and from other sources, fortunately, in case there are supply interruptions.

Mighty Marvel Masterworks

12 titles: Hulk, Daredevil, Thor, Capt, X-Men, Black Panther have just been reduced to $10.99 from the $15.99 cover price. An Avengers is at $8.99, but only while our stock lasts.12 titles: Hulk, Daredevil, Thor, Capt, X-Men, Black Panther have just been reduced to $10.99 from the $15.99 cover price. Jack Kirby's Sky Masters Ships

This long-awaited Kickstarter new printing shipped to us last week; we expect to see it by next week. It’s a good one; the first edition sold out very quickly, coming in from Spain, and we could not restock it until this new printing was done. It’s the finest compilation ever of Kirby (and Wally Wood’s) seminal sci-fi syndicated strip from the late 1950s, now revised with 16 more pages in full color.

It was only after his death that fans went to bat for Bill, calling for acknowledgment that he was co-creator of Batman. R CRUMB THE SKETCHBOOKS 1982-2011 Set Deluxe Signed & Numbered
Signed & limited, 1,000. Edited by Dian Hanson. By Robert Crumb. This six-book boxed set (Volumes 7-12) is the first collection of Robert Crumb sketches to be printed from the original art since the hard-bound, slipcased, seven volume series issued by the German publisher Zweitausendeins between 1981 and 1997. Unlike the Zweitausendeins edition, which included every doodle ever made by the preeminent underground artist, our best-of edition has been personally edited by the notoriously picky artist to include only what he considers his finest work, including hundreds of late period drawings not published in previous sketchbook collections. Robert Crumb requested that the books representing the second half of his career be published first due to fan demand for new Crumb material (Volumes 7-12 cover the period 1982-2011, and Volumes 1-6 covers the period 1964-1982). Includes a signed, authenticated color art print of a collectible Crumb original. Numbered "0000" as this was sent to us for display at Shows and Convention. Comes with cardboard box with the same illustrations as the slipcase. Taschen, 2012. Out of Print! Condition: Very Fine/As New. New in shrink wrap (shrink wrap does have a small tear but, does not affect slipcase or books). Adult Material....More

ASTONISHING THINGS The Drawings of Victor Hugo
Hugo created over 4,000 drawings during his lifetime, 3,000 of which survive today. His ink-and-wash visions of imaginary castles, monsters, tortured figures and seascapes may be less well known than his writings, but they inspired Romantic and Symbolist poets and several generations of artists up to the Surrealists of the 1920s; Vincent van Gogh once compared them to "astonishing things." Novelist, poet and politician Victor Hugo was a towering figure of 19th-century French society, both in the realm of politics and popular culture. His speeches, poems, prose and other writings became rallying points for the French Republic's ideals of equality and freedom. While living in exile from 1851 to 1870, he wrote some of his most famous works and simultaneously pursued his passion for drawing. Royal Academy of Arts, 2025. Due: June....More
