ALBRECHT DÜRER Watercolours and Drawings
Warehouse find, 1994. Five full centuries lie between us and the life of Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528). His ability to represent a subject with absolute fidelity to every detail seemed miraculous to his contemporaries, and still astounds us now. Artists continue to study his work, all of which is touched on here, from domestic scenes and portraits, to anatomy (he'll remind you of Burne Hogarth on his "dynamic" body movement and his hands), to his water-colors of plants and animals.  Taschen, 1994. . News and Notes

Our computer server crashed on December 22nd. We had already been working to update our IT operations from stem to stern, beginning with the new Website that went online early in 2016. But now we’re unable to bring back our (very) old software systems. Backups, which we always do, weren’t enough. These systems dealt with everything from individual item information to backorders to purchasing. So as I write this we have been forced into upgrading as we planned, but just far faster than we expected to.

This put us behind on filling orders and backorders by several days over the Christmas weekend and into this week (December 26-30). After a short delay we’re now shipping orders again, but it’s going to take time for us to catch up to the speedy 24-hour service you normally expect. So please be aware your order may take a little longer than normal to get to you.

Things are going to look and work a bit differently as we get the changes sorted out. We hope to have your understanding—we are doing the very best to make lemonade out of these lemons. Please be patient with us in this transition period. Call us if you need assistance or have any questions: Mon-Fri, 8am to 4pm. We will be closed Monday, January 2.

Best Wishes,
Bud

The Fortunino Matania books (SC, Deluxe, and a separate “Art of”) came in today as I was writing this, so backorders will be filled by the time you read this. This has been a surprise, for me, bestseller for us. As mentioned before, I collect his art but for so very many years, very few people outside a small group of artists knew his work. It's very cool this proving to be so popular.

Budd Root's Cave Paintings blew out their first weekend, but fortunately more copies arrived early this week. This is gonna be a hot one for us, published by Frank Cho and still months away from appearing in comic stores.

Harvey Kurtzman's Complete Trump also was very popular, so I'm pleased it's still in stock as I write this.

Charles Vess' Walking Through the Landscape of Faerie, featured on the cover of our December catalog, is enroute as I write this, delayed a couple weeks for various reasons.

Best Wishes,

Bud
