THE LIFE AND ART OF BERNIE FUCHS Limited to 1000 copies. Recommended. By David Apatoff. Forward by Walt Reed. At the peak of his fame, Bernie Fuchs' work was more widely admired—and imitated—than any other contemporary illustrator. At the age of 30 he was named "Artist of the Year" by the Artists Guild of New York. By 1975, he was the youngest illustrator ever elected to the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame. Now at last a major retrospective of Bernie's work has been assembled, the first such book published to date, filled with magazine covers, original paintings and a complete look at his career, which was incredibly wide ranging. Illustrated Press, 2017...More. Item Code: LIFBFH Hard Cover - No Dustjacket, 9x12, 240pg, Full Color $44.95 |
We just promoted all the Illustrated Press limited editions a couple weeks ago. See our website for the ones still available. |

Includes some wonderful line-drawn chapter heads, movie promos, and more. Korero Press, 2017...More. Item Code: CUSLE Soft Cover, 9x9, 576pg, Partial Color |
Leslie Cabarga also designed our lead item this week, Tarzan and the Cannibal King. And in a REAL show of his variety of interests, he also compiled Topless Summer Love Girls. Since it's adult I'm not showing it here, but it's on sale and available on our website: [TPL. |

FANTASTIC FOUR Epic Collection Volume 2 The Master Plan of Doctor Doom Collects Fantastic Four #19-32 & Annual #1-2, 1963-64. Our Highest Recommendation. By Stan Lee. Art by Jack Kirby. Lee and Kirby set the standard for out-of-this-world imaginative adventure and launched the Marvel Universe in the pages of Fantastic Four. Now, in 1963, with all the new superheros in place, it's time for the FF to run the gauntlet. The Sub-Mariner takes on the entire Human Race in the first FF Annual. The Thing throws down with the Hulk in a battle so huge it takes the combined might of the FF and the Avengers to stop it! The FF tangle with the X-Men! PRE-CODE CLASSICS SPACE BUSTERS/SPACE PATROL Collects Space Busters #1-2, 1952, Space Patrol #1-2, 1952, and Nightmare #1-2, 1952. Highly Recommended. Art by Bernie Krigstein, Murphy Anderson, Kinstler, Tuska. Covers by Norman Saunders and Allen Anderson. This one's got it all: painted cover art by pulp legends Allen Anderson and Norman Saunders, EC's Bernie Krigstein (principal artist in all four "Space" issues), and "The True Story of Flying Saucers" written by Harry Harrison, who went on to win Hugo awards as one of the big names in Science Fiction. Murphy Anderson does a story here, and Everett Raymond Kinstler and George Tuska also contribute! Publisher Ziff-Davis didn't last long in comics, but they did first class work, as good as any comics of the period. PS Artbooks, 2017...More. Item Code: PCSB01H Hard Cover - No Dustjacket, 7x10, 216pg, Full Color $59.99 |
We have every available Pre-Code Classic on our website. Quite a few are currently on sale as low as $19.95 each. Our next catalog, in your hands August, will feature a large section of the latest sale-priced editions. But some are already low in stock, so I suggest acting now. Some have as few as 2 or 3 copies left as I write this, while others we have in good supply for now. |
EC ARCHIVES CRIME SUSPENSTORIES Volume 3 Collects #13-18, 1952-53. Highly Recommended. By Al Williamson, Graham Ingels, George Evans, Joe Orlando, Johnny Craig, et al. Crime leaned a bit more in the direction of criminal activity, but really the creators and even the stories were the same wild stuff you got in the three EC horror titles. In fact, the Old Witch (with stories drawn by Ingles) makes regular appearances. But here we do get a variety of artists, including a wonderful collaboration of Williamson and Frank Frazetta, several more stories by Williamson, and a rare appearance of Sid Check. Retribution, shock endings, violent ends for bad boys and bad girls...Crime is the place to satisfy your craving for justice! Dark Horse, 2017...More. Item Code: ECC03H Hard Cover, 9x11, 216pg, Full Color |
ALSO AVAILABLE EC ARCHIVES CRIME SUSPENSTORIES Volume 2 Collects #7-12, 1951-52. Highly Recommended. By Al Feldstein and Johnny Craig. Art by Jack Davis, Johnny Craig, Jack Kamen et al. Classic chronicles of criminals and capers! Collecting issues from the immortal artistic talents of Al Feldstein, Johnny Craig, Jack Kamen, Jack Davis, and George Roussos. Plus every issue has a horror tale from The Haunt of Fear, narrated by the Old Witch and drawn by Graham Ingles, just like in EC's three horror titles. In fact, these stories were as horror-laden and shocking any of EC work--they just wanted to cash in on the "crime" so popular in comics. Handsomely recolored, giving these a fresh and up to date look and polish. Dark Horse, 2016...More. Item Code: ECC02H Hard Cover, 9x11, 216pg, Full Color |
These are the only two releases in the new Dark Horse Crime Suspense series. Next should be Volume 4, then they'll most likely go back and redo Volume 1, which was first done by Gemstone.

ALSO AVAILABLE COMPLETE EC PICTO-FICTION LIBRARY Set Still Available! Original 2006 Edition! Our Highest Recommendation. At long last, the final component of The Complete EC Library! Seldom seen and highly sought-after for decades, Shock Illustrated, Terror Illustrated, Crime Illustrated, and Confessions Illustrated are among the hardest-to-find EC titles--because this experiment using magazine format and text & illustrations, wonderful as it was, didn't sell on the newsstands. Includes the rare Shock Vol. 3 (only 200 subscriber copies were ever distributed), but here too are 18 previously unpublished Picto-Fiction stories. Gemstone, 2006...More. Item Code: CECHP Hard Cover, 9x13, 240pg, b&w |
This was the very last EC Library to be published, and I still feel it's one of the finest. The Picto-Fictions from EC were published in black and white already, and in a larger magazine size, so this is as close to the originals as you will ever get. And the artists outdid themselves, with innovative layouts as well as outstanding detail and artwork. I've kept these in stock (albeit perhaps too quietly) ever since I discovered they were still available, and at the original publication price. See our website for all other EC Archives in the new Dark Horse editions: Weird Fantasy and Weird Science, Shock, Vault, Crypt, Haunt of Fear, Two-Fisted, Panic, and the single volume Valor. We recently added a few of the Russ Cochran EC Archives sets to our Rare & Out of Print section, including Two-Fisted Tales, Weird Fantasy and Vault of Horror.

THE COMPLETE CHESTER GOULD'S DICK TRACY Volume 22 Dailies & Sundays, 1964-65. Recommended. By Chester Gould. Two worlds are in turmoil when the inter-species romance between Junior and the Moon Maid heats up. Can the twinkling of little antennae be too far in the future? Back on Earth, Dick Tracy quits, and gets taken prisoner by the Moon Maid's father! Diet Smith introduces the Two-Way Wrist Television fifty years before the Apple Watch, while Moon Maid turns vigilante and a series of events reveal a mob plot to kill both her and Dick Tracy. The clues eventually lead to Mr. Bribery, who proudly displays his collection of shrunken heads of the people who have crossed him. IDW, 2017...More. Item Code: CC22H Hard Cover, 11x9, 272pg, b&w |
ALSO AVAILABLE DICK TRACY Colorful Cases of The 1930s Recommended. By Chester Gould. In the early 1930s, Chester Gould dramatically altered the comics landscape with a new style of gritty realism torn from Chicago's headlines. With this new kind of storytelling came a new way of coloring comics, a style as bold and vibrant as the stories themselves. This selection of Dick Tracy Sunday comics from 1931 to 1939 features Gould's most infamous villains of the decade; four complete stories plus forty more fabulous Sunday pages, reprinted for the first time in the original colors, and in full tabloid size. Sunday Press, 2016...More. Item Code: DTCCH Hard Cover - No Dustjacket, 11x15, 168pg, Full Color $75.00 |
