Dropped Links

We have regularly featured a linked Table of Contents above, plus links from the intro paragraph. Our mail software is having trouble with these, and we don't seem to see many people using them. So unless we hear from you, we're going to drop them from these emails and save everyone some time!

Trots and Bonnie Signed Bookplate

I've eagerly awaited this collection by underground cartoonist Shary Flenniken. These strips first appeared mostly in the National Lampoon. At the very last minute, we've been told a signed bookplate is available—meanwhile the books came in this week. We're holding off listing them until we can put the bookplates with them (free, of course).

Statues shipping cost

You may have noticed we're not offering as many statues as we once did. The cost of shipping these both FROM our suppliers to us, then to you, is getting more and more prohibitive. The three new ones we have this week above, are close to or actually break-even for us after we calculate how much shipping is — we have to absorb quite a bit of the cost getting them to you. Statues cost far more than a comparably-priced book because they have to be shipped by Priority Mail. That said, we have a little more margin on higher-priced statues, $150-$300, but we'll probably have to steer clear of ones under $100.

HOKUSAI A Graphic Biography
Highly Recommended. By Francesco Matteuzzi. Art by Giuseppe Latanza. Enter the world of Katsushika Hokusai--the enigmatic creator of Japanese art's all-time most iconic image. Telling the story of both his eccentric (and incredibly productive) life--while simultaneously painting a fascinating picture of his wider cultural legacy, this book is ideal for both those new to Hokusai's work--and his biggest fans. We were able to fill advance orders with as-new copies. But as I write this we have just two "mint" copies left, first come, first served. Then all copies will be slightly hurt--not as serious as it sounds, but not mint. The problem is that our replacement copies are now "on backorder" from our supplier, which means we may never get any more. As we have explained, books from Hermes have become very problematic to keep in stock. We threw in the towel on these and are offering them as-is, at 25 percent off. If we manage to get as-new replacement copies, we’ll announce it. Click on the Phantom banner above for all in-stock Phantom books.
