WINSOR MCCAY The Complete Little Nemo 1910-1927
Our Highest Recommendation. By Alexander Braun. This second volume collects, in glorious full color and superior resolution, all 329 of Nemo's escapades from 1910 to 1927. Through them, we delight not only in the splendor of Slumberland, a surreal benchmark, but also McCay's pioneering panel layout and storytelling techniques, his timing and pacing, and extraordinary architectural detail. Rarely collected before: 1910-11, then McCay's jump to a new publisher and new title, "In the Land of Wonderful Dreams," from 1911-14. Then the return of Nemo in proper strips from 1924-27. Huge and sturdy hardcover format, perfect to delight in these detailed masterpieces. Taschen, 2019...More.

This book contains excerpted illustrations from nekosuke's first four Dojinshi (a self published magazine or publication that caters to a specific group of people) and also features original artworks. DESCANTS & CADENCES The Art of Stephanie Law Signed
Signed! Recommended. A new artist to us but one with superlative fantasy work and fine, fine technical skills. From fairies and beautiful fantasy women, to--really--the most amazing illustrations of insects such as bees and dragonflies we have seen. We can only compare this side of her work to the great E.J. Detmold, who could actually romanticize insects with his high level of skill at water color and capturing the exact moment of dynamics. Law does this also, along with excellent design and creativity. LUCIFER Volume 1 The Infernal Comedy
7-page sketchbook bonus. Recommended. By Dan Waters and Neil Gaiman et al. Art by Max and Sebastian Fiumara et al. An all-new chapter in the saga of one of the Sandman Universe's most mesmerizing characters--and very well drawn. The Prince of Darkness is missing, and from the look of things he's not coming back. Blind, crippled, and without a penny to his name, the onetime ruler of Hell is now a wizened, unkempt old man trapped in a small town where sinister forces torment him at every turn and nothing is as it seems. He has no memory of how he got here, no hope of escape, and no way to track down his child--the only entity capable of preventing the end of the world. DC Vertigo, 2019...More.

GOLDEN AGE MARVEL COMICS OMNIBUS Volume 1
Collects Marvel Comics #1 & Marvel Mystery #2-12, 1939-1940. Our Highest Recommendation. In 1939 a new voice hit the newsstands and changed the comic-book world forever: Marvel Comics #1, with its blazing Human Torch cover, and the first appearance of The Sub-Mariner inside, had arrived! And this 64-page pulp package wasn't your typical assortment of super-powered, straight-laced, do-gooders--this was something completely new. They're flanked by more eclectic heroes: The Angel, Electro, The Ferret, Masked Rider, Ka-Zar...plus three Subby/Torch battle issues, #8-10, Alex Schomberg's first covers, and a classic Angel cover by Jack Kirby on #12. DC announced a similar project, Detective #1-26, then cancelled it before we began taking orders. It's not that I expect Marvel to bail out too, but I suggest we support this from the get-go. I placed a big order for Detective, and I'll do the same for this. It's a great opportunity to see these seminal comics in their entirety. As always, use your charge card and you will not be billed until the day the book ships from us to you.

Two new DVDs this week. First is Jess Franco's classic, Justine, co-starring Jack Palance, Akim Tamiroff, Maria Rohm and Klaus Kinski as the Marquis de Sade. “One of the most lavish and bizarre erotic shockers” by this notorious director.” “...wanton nudity, sexual perversion and an all-star cast.”

Also here is Eugenie...the story of her journey into perversion, also starring Maria Rohm (Justine), Marie Liljedahl and, get this, Christopher Lee! Both of these have adult themes and nudity, but are less graphic than today's R-rated films.

New Pre-Code Classics

PRE-CODE CLASSICS BAFFLING MYSTERIES Volume 1
Collects #5-9,1951-52 (this began with #5). Recommended. By Mike Sekowsky, Lou Cameron, Gene Colan, Maurice Gutwirth et al. Mike Sekowsky, Maurice Gutwirth, George Appel, Gene Colan, Jim McLaughlin, Ace Baker, Lou Cameron (Wood-ish art), Bill Molno, and Chic Stone all contribute stories to this collection from small but excellent publisher Ace. Like sister title The Beyond, this is another offbeat Ace Publications title that offered reasonably written stories without going over the top like other comics of the era, and yet keeping a good overall quality of story. Not unlike what Richard Hughes was doing over at ACG, but Ace had generally better artists! PS Artbooks, 2018...More.

Item Code: PCBM01H
Hard Cover - No Dustjacket, 7x10, 184pg, Full Color
$44.99

PRE-CODE CLASSICS BAFFLING MYSTERIES Volume 2
Collects #10-14, 1952-53. Recommended. By Mike Sekowsky, Gene Colan et al. Is there no shame? We have a Crypt-Keeper swipe from EC on the cover, no less, of #10. Mainstay Ace contributor Lou Cameron is here, with Atlas and Marvel Comics stalwart Gene Colan, as well as Chic Stone, covers by Jim McLaughlin, Avon Comics' notorious Howard Larsen, a rare "Ace" Baker cover, Lou Zansky, the bizarre Paul Gatusso, Blue Beetle artist Charles Nicholas, and DC's own Mike Sekowsky. Read 'em and shake your head in pure astonishment. PS Artbooks, 2018...More.

Item Code: PCBM02H
Hard Cover - No Dustjacket, 7x10, 184pg, Full Color
$44.99

PRE-CODE CLASSICS Hand of Fate Volume 3
Collects #18-22, 1953-54. Recommended. By Lou Cameron, Ken Rice, Chic Stone et al. Maybe a little wild and certainly a whole heap wacky, here is PS's third volume of pulp style stories from this Ace title, chock full of stolen pagan religious relics and mysterious cults in odd corners of the world plus, of course, the inevitable shuffling cadavers, vampires, ghouls and all manner of similar undead, half-dead or just down with a bad headache monster-types. Plus bondage, hypo needle scenes, and four wonderful Lou Cameron stories. PS Artbooks, 2019...More.

Item Code: PCHF03H
Hard Cover - No Dustjacket, 7x10, 184pg, Full Color
$44.99

Also in stock at the same price are Volumes 1 and 2; Volume 4 is due in August, also at $44.99.

FROM SUNBEAMS TO SUNSET The Rise And Fall of the Australian Comic Book 1924-1965
By Graeme Cliffe. In 1954 there were about seventy-two million comic books being sold in Australia. Seventy-two million! Today a variety of entertainment media are offered to Australians, and there are very few local artists working in the industry. What led to this decline? What were some of the titles that were so popular years ago? Graeme Cliffe's book seeks to answer all these questions.... and a whole lot more! This is the story of Australia's original comic book industry, from its origins in humorous strips which were published in Sydney early in the twentieth century, to the industry's demise in the nineteen sixties, when other entertainment sources proved more popular. Nat Karmichael, 2019. Due July. ...More.

This volume reveals differences that often reflect in highly regional and localized comics such as Paul MacKinnon's Cape Breton-specific Old Trout Funnies, Michel Rabagliati's Montreal-based Paul comics, and Kurt Martell and Christopher Merkley's Thunder Bay-specific zombie apocalypse.
