THE ART OF HADDON SUNDBLOM Limited, 900. Our Highest Recommendation. Haddon Sundblom (1899-1976) was Coke's most prolific artist, painting subjects that ranged from pin-up bathing beauties to soda-fountain scenes. They are actively collected today. During his peak period in the 1940s, he produced half of all Coke's advertising art, including the famous Santa everyone recognizes today. In the mid-1930s, he began to paint pin-ups and glamour pieces for calendars--this work was a major influence on many pin-up artists, such as Gil Elvgren, Edward Runci, Joyce Ballantyne, Art Frahm, and Harry Ekman. Sundblom's last assignment, in 1972, was a cover painting for Playboy's Christmas issue! This covers his entire career, including several full nudes. Illustrated Press, 2018...More. This book has had one of the strongest pre-orders of any of Illustrated Press' titles. Jon Whitcomb is sold out. |
MARK SCHULTZ CARBON Volume 3 Signed Signed bookplate! Our Highest Recommendation. By Mark Schultz. Mark Schultz once again shows growth in his exploration of technique, subject matter and story elements. Schultz says he's still working to refine his craft, and each new work is the result of an intense dedication to capturing his visions in new ways. In this new collection of the artist's works; the Xenozoic world takes center stage with preliminary drawings and concept designs from his upcoming Xenozoic graphic novel, placed in context with an introductory text that addresses his decisions behind the new art. Plus other works, as well as two spectacular panoramic fold-outs, one with color on both sides. Several nudes. Flesk, 2018...More. Item Code: MSC03S Soft Cover, 9x12, 56pg, Partial Color $24.95 |
ALSO AVAILABLE MARK SCHULTZ CARBON Volume 2 By Mark Schultz. The first thing you can count on in any collection from Mark Schultz is a kind of subject matter, featuring outré situations involving daring men and women, and, often, fearsome beasts. The second thing you can count on is his allegiance to certain graphic media—generally brush and ink, and graphite and charcoal, but sometimes watercolor too. The third thing you can count on is that, although the subject matter and media stay consistent, his design, draftsmanship and control of his presentation are always evolving and growing, Here, in Carbon 2, his work has become noticeably bolder—more viscerally engaging. Flesk, 2016...More. Item Code: MSC02S Soft Cover, 9x12, 56pg, Partial Color $24.95 |

HEROES, INC PRESENTS CANNON Warehouse find, 1969. 50% off Overstreet Guide Value. Our Highest Recommendation. By Wally Wood, Steve Ditko and Ralph Reese. First of a two-issue comic book series that represents one of the earliest independent comics. Produced in 1969 by the publishers of Overseas Weekly and sold in Army PX's. That was where Wood's adult-themed Cannon and Sally Forth were appearing at the time. A second issue was published by CPL Gang Publications in 1976. This 32-page, color comic book, in as-new condition from a stash of uncirculated copies, features three stories with original characters. Cover price was 15 cents. Wally Wood, 1969. Out of Print. Mature Readers...More. Item Code: HERIN Comic, 7x10, 32pg, Full Color $7.50 |
These were offered to us by a collector who came across an uncirculated batch at a flea market, many years ago. I know the book had surfaced in multiple copies before, which is why such a cool comic, from 1969, only goes for a mere $15 in Overstreet. But regardless, if you don't already have a copy, this is way cool, a blast from the past—from going on 50 years ago! I am not going to invidually grade these, not for $7.50, but rest asssured no copy is less than Very Fine 8.0, and most are even better. |
