Men’s Adventure Magazines, a new Mort Kunstler, the Art of Pernille Orum, Wonder Woman, P. Craig Russell and Johnny Hazard: The Sundays!

Another solid week of new items. I especially like Eva: Men's Adventure Supermodel, the new Mort Kunstler, the Art of Pernille Orum, the Wonder Woman Golden Age Omnibus, and DC's Wanted, which offers a wonderful selection of offbeat Golden Age stories. Just Imagine: Stan Lee Creating the DC Universe is fun and very different. Comic Book Creator offers a great look at P. Craig Russell with a specially created new cover. And Johnny Hazard: The Sundays is full Sunday page size, with bonus material and text features by Roy Thomas and Howard Chaykin.

Coronavirus Update: We are working with smaller staff, just two or, at the most, three of us in the warehouse at any one time. But we are getting all the orders out on time, and business remains busy even in this time of stress. The rest of our staff is trading off warehouse days or working at home. See more in News and Notes, below.

Thanks so very much for your continued support. You are always welcome to check in with us—as always, we are here Mon-Fri, 9am-4pm, PST. The next catalog (Mucha cover, below) mailed out this week and will be in your hands in early April. Download it here.

My very best wishes to you. Stay safe and keep enjoying our wonderful world of art and comics. -Bud

MORT KUNSTLER The Godfather of Pulp Fiction Illustrators
Highly Recommended. Edited by Robert Deis and Wyatt Doyle. Known today as "America's Artist" for his popular and much admired historical paintings, it was in the wild world of men's adventure magazine illustration that Mort Künstler honed his ability to present large-scale action while never losing sight of essential details, much like fellow atists James Bama and Norman Saunders.  It led to a mastery of capturing conflict in paint--both the spectacle, and the human cost. An unequaled selection of Künstler's finest pieces. From the explosive intensity of battles on the sea and in the air, to taut, face-to-face showdowns and animal attacks, and of course the sexy ladies...every page explodes with action, color, and artistry. SOFT NUDES FOR THE DEVIL'S BUTCHER
Fiction, Features and Art from Classic Men's Adventure Magazines. Edited by Pep Pentangeli. ART NOUVEAU
Highly Recommended. By Uta Hasekamp. Art Nouveau was a phenomenon with many faces. Between 1890 and 1910, artists developed a variety of styles from the plant-like forms of the Belgian-French Art Nouveau to the ornamentation of the Viennese Secession. They were all striving to create a new, modern style and pursued a comprehensive renewal of art and, in some countries, also a renewed national identity. This shows the gorgeous buildings, interior design, objects, sculptures, posters, and graphic design that beautifully embraced this movement. Konemann, 2019...More.

News and Notes

The Big News

Diamond Comic Distributors will stop shipping new product after April 1, until this crisis is over. That's terrible news for comic shops and for publishers both. However, the good news for you is we buy very, very little any more from Diamond—as few as two to four titles a week. We have always done our best to work directly with publishers or with distributors in the book industry. This means we will still be getting all of our archives and graphic novels from publishers including Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, IDW, Humanoids, Titan and others. As you know, we handle very few actual comics, which will be stopped by this move. So I do not forsee much interruption to our inflow of coming items and material.

Diamond does intend to keep filling reorders for older material, so we will be able keep those items we buy from them in stock.

Flesk Publishing

has also shut down for now, so we'll have to wait along with everyone else for reorders as well as new books from him. Again, bookstore distributor Ingram's handles some of his books, so we can still get those. CAV, one of our adult DVD distributors, is also closed. But so far, everyone else is shipping products to us.

Sanctum News

The Shadow #145 has gone out of print. We got restocks of the final issues, #150 and #151, which were sold out for a week or two. We're waiting for more #149, we have just 4 #148 but more on the way, #147 is in stock, but we are waiting on more #146! These last issues have sold exceptionally well, much better than regular issues. Unfortunately Sanctum, with their move to a new printer, has been slow to ship out our reorders. A few of the on-sale issues, #1-115 have sold out, as have a couple of the Doc Savage issues. We don't have very deep stock of any of these, so I recommend that you act now for the best selection. See all of our Sanctum pulp reprints here.
