FATALE COMPENDIUM
Recommended. The bestselling, award-winning team of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips finally collect their hit book Fatale under one cover in this gorgeous compendium edition. Josephine is cursed, and in a series that darkly blends American crime noir with unnamed Lovecraftian horrors, we follow her from 1950s San Francisco, where crooked cops hide deeper evils, to mid-'70s L. A. where burnt-out actors and ex-cult groupies are caught in a web around a satanic snuff film, then back through the ages of time... and in the middle of it all is Josephine, with a power to die or kill for. She excelled in multiple genres, including drama, comedy, and musical, with ease and individual style. In Mega-City One, citizens live in fear under the iron fist of the Judges’ unyielding rule, but PSI Judge Cassandra Anderson knows it’s a flawed system. Meanwhile, still more costumed avengers sprang forth on TV (“The Green Hornet,” “Ultraman”), in movies (“The Wild World of Batwoman,” “Rat Pfink and Boo Boo”), in comics (Batgirl, new Charlton and Harvey titles, campy stories) and in animation (“Space Ghost,” “The Marvel Super Heroes”). MIGHTY MARVEL CALENDAR BOOK A Visual History
By Chris Ryall. Introduction by Roy Thomas. Seven years of Marvel history — this incredible showcase features art from some of the greatest illustrators who drew stories for the House of Ideas. From 1975-81, Marvel created seven consecutive calendars that were as artistically designed and captivatingly written as any of their comic books. Each of these annual calendars — whether they celebrated the Bicentennial (1976) or spotlighted a specific character such as Spider-Man (1978), Hulk (1979), or Doctor Strange (1980), featured heroes and villains across the pantheon of the Marvel Universe — and all shared inspired features. These included visual call-outs for birthdays of noted Marvel staff and creators; key moments in Marvel history; special events, famous quotes from fan-favorite issues, and other celebratory mentions; with exclusive art from iconic Marvel artists, created especially for these calendars by Jack Kirby, John Buscema, John Byrne, Frank Miller, Walter Simonson, Gil Kane, George Pérez, Gene Colan, Jim Starlin, Sal Buscema, Mike Ploog, and dozens more. Atlas Comics Library 3: In the Days of the Rockets

This just rolled in the door, too late for the list this week. Looks good! Here’s all the Atlas Comics Library and Atlas Artists releases so far, they are all high on my recommended list.

Complete Web of Horror

This has gone out of print from Fantagraphics—sadly, since it’s a really wonderful book. Insider tip, we have nine left as I write this, so act now if you haven’t gotten one. They are still listed at cover price.

We are out of the EC Fan Addict with the signed bookplate. This was limited to 250. This latest issue is also out of print from Fantagraphics, but we managed to bring in enough extras to last a while, sans bookplate. Our last 35 copies will have a corner bump or two, they were damaged. But for now we still have plenty as-new, un-bumped copies, still at cover price [ECF06S. $16]. We also just today added more scans of the inside artwork, so click for more images. The Wally Wood here was a specialty piece in the chapter on cover recreations....
