CORMAC MCCARTHY'S THE ROAD Highly Recommended. The first-ever graphic novel adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s Pulitzer Prize-winning classic, The Road, approved and authorized by McCarthy before his death, and illustrated by acclaimed French illustrator Manu Larcenet. The story of a nameless father and son trying to survive with their humanity intact in a post-apocalyptic wasteland where Earth’s natural resources have been diminished, and some survivors are left to raise others for meat. The Road is one of Cormac McCarthy’s bleakest and most prescient novels. Abrams, 2024....More. Item Code: CORMRH Hard Cover, 9x10, 160pg, Full Color $26.99 |
I literally just finished this minutes ago, could not put it down. It’s grimm, it’s apocalytic plus. Its the story of a young boy and his father trying to stay alive and head south into warmer weather, in a blasted world of grey skies, swirling ash and the dead. Those left alive are mostly starving and not "good people." But the art, man, it is powerful work, beautifully illustrated in every panel and superb narrative. I really liked it. - Bud |
JACK KIRBY COLLECTOR #91 30th Anniversary Edition Highly Recommended. Edited by John Morrow. For its 30th anniversary issue, the Jack Kirby Collector pulls out all the stops for a celebration of Kirby’s greatest victories! All the major triumphs are covered, from Jack getting the girl (wife Roz Kirby) and scoring early hits with Captain America and Boy Commandos, surviving WWII combat, pioneering romance comics, to launching Captain Victory and the direct market, resolving his original-art battle with Marvel Comics, and posthumously winning credit at Marvel in 2014 — which is the culmination of what the Kirby Collector was all about from its beginning in September 1994! TwoMorrows, 2024....More. Item Code: JKC91 Magazine, 8x11, 84pg, Text/Partial Color $10.95 |
MARVEL COMICS IN THE EARLY 1960S Recommended. This new volume in the ongoing "Marvel Comics in the..." series takes you all the way back to the legendary beginnings, when gunfighters traveled the West and monsters roamed the Earth! ONE TOUGH DAME The Life and Career of Diana Rigg Recommended. By Herbie J. Pilato.A sweeping portrait of the revered performer’s life and career. Deemed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1994, Diana Rigg (1938–2020) initially found fame as super sleuth Mrs. Emma Peel in the 1960s BBC/ABC-TV espionage series, The Avengers. A classically trained and multi-award-winning thespian, Rigg is known for her diverse body of work – from her big-screen debut in 1969 as Countess Teresa di Vincenzo, wife of James Bond in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, to her Tony Award-winning, leading role in Medea on Broadway, culminating with her Emmy-nominated portrayal as Lady Olenna Tyrell on the heralded small-screen gem, Game of Thrones. 16-page section of photos plus more. PHANTOM LADY #16 Facsimile Edition From 1948. Highly Recommended. Cover and two stories by the legendary Matt Baker: "The Avenging Skulls" and "The Monster in the Pool." DC's very own Gil Kane draws the final Phantom Lady story "Clara Peete — The Beautiful Beast." One of the most notorious comics of the Golden Age, with good-girl art, racy panels, lots of cleavage and sexy legs. Publisher Fox was not shy about exploiting the ladies in these adult-themed comics. PS Artbooks, 2023....More. Item Code: PHLA16 Comic, 7x10, 36pg, Full Color $15.99 |
PHANTOM LADY #17 Facsimile Edition From 1948. Highly Recommended. One of the most iconic good girl covers of the entire Golden Age, and one of Matt Baker's finest! These were previously released accompanied by a matted print at a higher price. We were never too enthusiastic about the prints since it drove up the price, so we are happy to see PS re-issuing these sans print. See the other Phantom Lady issues here. See all the PS Facsimiles here. |
Jack Kirby |
STUNTMAN #1 Facsimile Edition Highly Recommended. High-flying action and jaw-dropping stunts as legendary creators Jack Kirby and Joe Simon create an entirely new non-super character. A daredevil stuntman is embroiled in circus stunts and movie directing, and it's all some of S&K's finest Golden Age work. Killer double-page action spreads akin to their work for Captain America in 1941-42. PS Artbooks, 2024....More. Item Code: STUN01 Comic, 7x10, 56pg, Full Color $15.99 |
Darn it, I underestimated demand for Jack Kirby’s Captain 3-D and we blew out all our copies last week. We’ll have more in 8 weeks or so. They come from England. See more by Simon and Kirby here. |
ALSO AVAILABLE SKY MASTERS OF THE SPACE FORCE The Complete Sunday Strips in Color New Edition, larger size with 16 bonus pages in color. Our Highest Recommendation. By Jack Kirby and Wally Wood. The Sky Masters of the Space Force newspaper strip is one of the most fascinating and obscure works by comics legend Jack Kirby. Created and developed by Kirby with writer Dave Wood at the beginning of 1958 while Kirby was working for National (DC), the Sky Masters daily strip debuted on September 8 of that year. Five months later, on February 8, 1959, the color Sunday strips arrived featuring a totally independent story line from the dailies. The strip narrates, with a realistic approach, the adventures of Major Sky Masters during the early days of space exploration in the late 1950s, just as a new front opened in the Cold War between the U.S. and U.S.S.R.: a frenzied space race. Kirby Museum Press, 2024. Due: Dec....More. Item Code: SKYMH Hard Cover, 9x12, Partial Color $55.00 |
ALSO AVAILABLE THE BEST OF SIMON & KIRBY'S MAINLINE COMICS 1954-56. Our Highest Recommendation. In 1954, industry legends Joe Simon and Jack Kirby founded Mainline Publications to publish their own comics. The four titles — Bullseye, Foxhole, Police Trap, and In Love — looked to build off their reputation as hit makers, but the 1950s backlash against comics killed any chance at success, and Mainline closed its doors just two years later, selling the unpublished stories to Charlton. For the first time, here is their best including all of the stories with S&K art, as well as key tales with contributions by Mort Meskin and others— plus the scarce work that Charlton published! Complete stories and lots of wonderful covers. TwoMorrows, 2023. ...More. Item Code: BESKMH Hard Cover, 8x11, 256pg, Full Color |

TALES OF THE MYSTERIOUS TRAVELER Volume 1 Collects #1-5, 1956-57. Highly Recommended. Courtesy of the Traveler's creator, Steve Ditko, this scarce Charlton title stood out on the comic book spinners with Ditko's unique covers. A clear inspiration to the hugely popular Marvel title Amazing Adult Fantasy. Offbeat stories! Additional artists: Dick Giordano, Charles Nicholas, Tony Tallarico and Bill Molno. PS Artbooks, 2024....More. Item Code: SATM01 Soft Cover, 7x10, 184pg, Full Color $32.99 |
Generally when PS issues the softcover like this, before a hardcover edition, it means there will NOT be a hardcover edition. Lately they’ve settled into doing the hardcover first, followed by the softcover, if they intend to do both. More by Steve Ditko HERE. |

CLASSIC HORROR COMICS Volume 7 Hardcover Recommended. Starting with tales of stalking terror with Ajax/Farrell title Fantastic Fears #4 and 5 (1953-54), we have Steve Ditko's "Stretching Things" story, his first ever in comics! Followed up with the iconic The Purple Claw #1-3 (1953). And that's only the who's who in issue #59! More wonderful work by Joe Doolin, Charles A. Winter, and Lee Elias in The #1 Sci-Fi Comic of The Golden Age. PS Artbooks, 2024....More. Item Code: PLC18 Soft Cover, 7x10, 192pg, Full Color $32.99 |
There’s too many Planet Comics for us to keep them all in stock. Click here for available back issues of both hardcover editions (which contain more issues) and softcovers still available. We will not be restocking the earliest volumes. Planet 19 also came in but with damages we had no copies to list. We’ll have a new shipment in 8 weeks. Unfortunately the same thing happened with Thunda Vol 1 hardcover and softcover, American Greatest Comics Vol 1 and Startling Vol 1. Normally we have no problem with shipments from England like this, but they came in UPS instead of the usual way and, sadly, we had to cull out most of the copies of these titles. |

This won the 2023 Eisner Award for Best Archival Collection and has our highest recommendation. 11 pounds. Poker Face – "crime comedy series" on Peacock Here’s the teaser: When a close friend meets an untimely end, Charlie Cale, a casino cocktail waitress with an uncanny knack for identifying lies, is determined to unravel this mystery…It co-stars Benjamin Bratt (Law & Order) and in the first episode, Adrien Brody. And Hellboy actor Ron Pearlman! This is our very favorite series lately and I could not resist sharing. It stars Natashha Lyonne who was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards! She also stars in Russian Doll, which now has two seasons on Netflix, and we really are enjoying that too, and recommending both series to anyone who will listen! So there!
