PRINCE VALIANT 1-3 Slipcase Set
1937-42. Our Highest Recommendation. By Hal Foster. Hal Foster’s Prince Valiant is one of the most magnificent adventure comics ever and Fantagraphics’ reprinting, from rare original syndicate proofs, is today the finest treatment of the strip in the history of publishing. Despite being one of their most popular series, they never produced a holiday gift box set--until now. This deluxe package includes the first three volumes of the series, collecting the first six years of Foster’s run, from 1937 through 1942, enclosed in a stunningly illustrated slipcase with different illustrations front and back. Fantagraphics, 2017...More.

FRANKENSTEIN The First Two Hundred Years
Already a bestseller for us! By Christopher Frayling. This book, celebrating the 200th birthday of Frankenstein, traces the journey of Shelley’s Frankenstein from limited-edition literature into the bloodstream of contemporary culture. With text by renowned Gothic scholar Sir Christopher Frayling, it includes new research on the novel’s origins; a facsimile reprint of the earliest-known manuscript version of the creation scene; visual material on adaptations for the stage, in magazines, on playbills, in prints and in books of the 19th century; visual essays and stills on many of the film versions and their inspirations in the history of art; and Frankenstein in popular cultureâfix oddfix oddon posters, advertisements, packaging, in comics and graphic novels. ROY THOMAS PRESENTS FRANKENSTEIN Volume 8
Closeout Price! Collects #28-33, 1954. Highly Recommended. Written and drawn by Dick Briefer. While earlier issues were pure humor, here Frankenstein continues, and in fact concludes the complete run. It's now entirely a dark, sinister turn into pure horror. I particularly like these stories, as the mute monster relentlessly deals out harsh, final justice to anyone who wishes him ill. He also became a silent judge-and-jury when he finds others persecuted or wronged, and never hesitates to mete out violent justice! He's the man! PS Artbooks, 2015...More.

We also have the slipcased edition of this on sale: [FRA08D. $64.99, your price $21.99]. Volumes 3-7 are also all on sale and we have most in both regular and slipcased copies. Some are almost gone, however, as few as six copies left. I personally like best the more serious pre-code “horror” issues (#18-33), which are collected in Volumes 6-8. The earlier humor issues in Volumes 3-5 are fun but a whole different take on Frankenstein.

Mature Readers

The Bettie Page Comics Set #1 is nearly gone, we just got our last reorder of the four variant issues [BP01P. $15.99]. Act now if you want one. #2 is also in short supply. Set 3 and 4 are also in stock---these each have 3 variant issues for $11.99 each [BP02P, BP03P, BP04P].

Issues #5-7 have been announced by the publisher, so this looks to be an on-going series or at least a longer one that we first thought. We'll continue to make available variant sets of these as long as supply lasts. The same publisher, Dynamite, has announced a series of new Barbarella comics, and we'll be handling these also as variant-cover sets.

Christmas Cards!

This year we have upgraded from Christmas postcards back to a full Christmas card, with a lovely illustration by Thomas Haller Buchanan and a photo of our guys and gals here. We will include one of these with every order shipped out from now until we run out—or the end of the year, whichever happens first.
