ROY THOMAS PRESENTS THE LOST WORLD
The Complete Stories from Planet Comics #21-64, 1942-50. Highly Recommended. By Nick Cardy, Graham Ingels, George Evans et al. An unusally fat book (456 pages) from PS, collecting the best continuing strip in Planet Stories. Plus these bonus features: a special overview by Roy Thomas, a close look at editor Malcolm Reiss AND brief bios (with special artwork) of ALL the creators: Rudy Palais, EC alumni Graham Ingels and George Evans, Lily Renée and others, by historian David Saunders! PS Artbooks, 2017...More.

Item Code: LOSTWH
Hard Cover - No Dustjacket, 7x10, 448pg, Full Color
$69.99

I thought this might be a bit of an after-run, since it collects stories from the same Planet Stories that we’d been handling. However, it is nearly twice the page count of a typical PS Artbook AND it has a lot of extra features, many pages of them. Finally, even on sale as most of them are, the Planets do add up a bit...so if you haven’t elected to get those, here you can get one of the best with its features all in one volume.

ALSO AVAILABLE
PLANET COMICS Volume 13
Closeout Price! Collects #60-66, 1949-52. Highly Recommended. By George Evans, Leonard Starr, Graham Ingels et al. Long before Star Wars, there was Planet Comics, home to a veritable parade of steely-jawed interstellar adventurers and some of the most gorgeous damsels in distress you could ever hope to find. And this is their prime, with the legendary “Futura,” the first and perhaps best drawn space-damsels in distress. Wonderful art by the unsung Enrico Bagnoli! PS Artbooks, 2016...More.

Item Code: PLC13H
Hard Cover - No Dustjacket, 7x10, 314pg, Full Color
$59.99 $19.95

Of the regular editions of Planet, on sale at $19.95, we have all except Volume 4 ($48) and 10 and 11 ($59.99 each). Volume 11 is also sold out in the slipcased edition. But volumes 4 and 10 are still available slipcased, on sale, see below.

ALSO AVAILABLE
PLANET COMICS Volume 8 Slipcased
Closeout Price! Limited, 300! Collects #30-35, 1944-45. Highly Recommended. By Graham Ingels, Lily Renee, Lee Elias, Joe Doolin, Murphy Anderson et al. When Planet began in 1940, it was ground-breaking but also a bit primitive, as were most comic books then. But it got better and better, taking on important new artists and changing up the strips. The great Murphy Anderson begins his tenure here, and EC's Graham Ingels has also come aboard. Planet Comics remained THE premier sci-fi comic all through the 1940s, translating the traditional pulp-style stories into comic adventures for younger readers as well as soldiers, who delighted in the good-girl art that was the hallmark of this and all the Fiction House titles. PS Artbooks, 2015. Out of Print....More.

Item Code: PLC08D
Hard Cover - No Dustjacket, 7x10, 336pg, Full Color
$69.99 $23.99

Volumes 3-10, 12-14 are all available at the same $23.99 sale price. Volumes 1, 2 and 11 are sold out. Lowest in stock: Volumes 5-7 and 10 all have under ten copies left.

We stocked these up quite aggressively due to the sale price—because I knew they would be very popular. And they have been. But they are finally beginning to run out and we do NOT anticipate getting more copies at these prices.

PRE-CODE CLASSICS THE UNSEEN Volume 2
Collects The Unseen #11-15 & Who Is Next? #5, 1953-54. Recommended. By Alex Toth, Nicky Cardy, George Tuska, Gene Fawcette et al. It was the 1950's — the Atomic Age, the Cold War, and just before the Space Race. Comics books were the education, the entertainment, and, according to some, the downfall of America. What a great time! We loved to be scared — still do, it seems —from the comfort of our own home, secure in the knowledge that there's no real danger (or so we think). Final issues of this excellent series from Standard, along with Who Is Next?, a suspense one-shot featuring a town terrorized by a serial killer. PS Artbooks, 2018...More.

Item Code: PCEUN02H

PRE-CODE CLASSICS THE UNSEEN Volume 1
Collects #5-10 (#1-5), 1952-53. Highly Recommended. By Alex Toth, Nick Cardy, John Fawcette, Mike Sekowsky, John Celardo, Jack Katz, Mike Esposito & Ross Andru et al. It was the 1950's -- the Atomic Age, the Cold War, and just before the Space Race. But nothing could match the imagination, the surprise, and the chilling-of-your-spine like the great horror comics of yesteryear. Some of the best non-EC horror stories came out of tiny publisher Standard, whose all-star artist Alex Toth set a high standard for his fellows. Both Mike Ross (Mike Esposito and Ross Andru) and Mike Sekowsky offer multiple wonderful Toth-style stories, inspired by the master. Jack Katz does his over-the-top thing. PS Artbooks, 2017...More.

BARBARELLA #1 Comic Set
Set of four variant covers-interior is the same--by Kenneth Rocafort, Joe Jusko, Joseph Michael Linsner & Roberta Castro. Recommended. By Mike Carey. Art by Kenan Yarar. In the 41st century, government agent Barbarella finds herself in a war zone, where the theocratic rulers of Parosia arrest and imprison her. Once she knows what the Parosians do to their own citizens Barbarella decides to make this fight her own... Jean-Claude Forest created the character of Barbarella in 1962, but it was the 1968 film starring Jane Fonda that cemented the character for all time as an icon of science fiction and the sexual revolution. We like the look of this new series, and especially the fine and each-one-different variant covers. Dynamite, 2017. Mature Readers...More.

And what fine, fine work it is. This new in-depth monograph utilizes the archives of the studio and features concept drawings, model sheets, and hundreds of designs for projects including Biker Mice From Mars, The Juice, andFreak Show. $60.00

This went out of print immediately upon publication. I thought we would not get a reorder placed just before publication, but we got lucky. So we still have copies, at original published price, of this fine book. It could become one of the scarcest Wrightson art books, the publisher obviously seriously underestimated demand for it.

BERNIE WRIGHTSON Artifact Edition Cover A
Almost Gone! Swamp Thing Cover. Our Highest Recommendation. By Bernie Wrightson. This loving tribute to comics' Master of the Macabre showcases Wrightson's ground breaking work in the DC Comics Mystery books and his legendary artistic turn on Swamp Thing. Additionally, a number of rarely seen and completely (until now) unseen treasures have been assembled here. Six fold-outs, many pieces in full color. IDW, 2017...More.

He was really more of an illustrator than a cartoonist, boldly shown here with an abundance of superbly rendered illustrations. This book is a pure delight.
