ABAA Virtual Book Fair

The 2021 ABAA New York Virtual Fair opens today, Thursday Sept 9. Bud Plant & Hutchison Books will be exhibiting for the first time!

The fair is open throughout the day and night from Thursday September 9 2pm EDT (9am PDT) through 3pm EDT (12 noon PDT), Sunday, September 12.

As I mentioned in an earlier email, Anne and I are processing an enormous collection of vintage illustrated books and art books. We're listing sixty hand-picked titles in this show (see my related editorial in Fall 2021 catalog — you can download it below). These include:

Arthur Rackham's Book of Pictures first edition bound in full leather by Baynton

• First edition Thus of Christina Rossetti's Goblin Market illustrated by Laurence Housman

• Norman Lindsay's Complete Etchings.

• A number of illustrated editions of Alice in Wonderland by such artists as Arthur Rackham, Willy Pogany, Bessie Pease Gutmann, Peter Newell and Maraja. Several have already sold, but check with Anne at the number below if you missed something.

Teaser!! Spectrum Quarterly!

Arnie and Cathy Fenner edited Spectrum for the first 20 annuals, and designed many of Underwood Book's finest volumes, including the three Frazettas. Arnie is on the final stages of a labor of love project: Spectrum Fantastic Art Quarterly. He expects that we will see the first issue in early November.

Diamond and the comic stores will handle it eventually, but we'll be months ahead of them. We haven't got it listed yet but you will be able to reserve a copy soon. Frazetta feature article with an interview with Frank's sister, Richard Corben and Steve Hickman memoriums (Steve just passed away very recently), an article on the art of Dan Dos Santos and much more. It's all about contemporary fantastic art.
