Our Highest Recommendation. By Bhob Stewart, Bill Gaines, Roger Hill, Al Williamson, John Severin, Grant Geissman. Introduction by Howard Chaykin. Just when we thought we'd knew all there is to know about Woody, here comes a wonderful all-new biography. Edited over the course of thirty years by former Wood assistant Bhob StewartHis World is a biographical portrait, generously illustrated with Wood's gorgeous art (some unpublished) as well as little-seen personal photos and childhood ephemera. Also: remembrances by Wood's friends, colleagues, assistants, and loved ones. 2016, Fantagraphics. ...More.

Signed & limited, 500! Highly Recommended. New York Times bestselling author and illustrator Tony DiTerlizzi has been creating children's books for nearly two decades. From fanciful picture books like The Spider & The Fly (a Caldecott Honor book), to chapter books like Kenny and The Dragon and the WondLa trilogy, DiTerlizzi imbues his stories with a rich imagination. With Holly Black, he created the middle-grade series, The Spiderwick Chronicles, which has sold millions of copies, been adapted into a feature film, and been translated in over thirty countries. CTHULHU The Ancient One Tribute Box
Recommended. By Steve Mockus. The signature character of author H. P. Lovecraft's darkly fantastic fiction, Cthulhu is as emblematic for Lovecraft's fans as Darth Vader is for Star Wars adherents. Both feared and worshipped in the stories, Cthulhu has since been the subject of new fiction, artwork, role-playing games, toys, and other items celebrating Lovecraft and fandom for weird tales. This set includes a hand-painted figurine, an altarpiece stand, and a 48-page booklet (that slips into the stand!) discussing the Ancient One's place in Lovecraft's works and in popular culture. Chronicle Books, 2016. ...More.

Signed & illustrated bookplate by Gary Gianni! Highly Recommended. By Robert E. Howard. Art by Gary Gianni. This lavishly illustrated volume features dozens of full page drawings and wonderful vignettes by former Prince Valiant artist Gary Gianni. It collects three of Howard's longest and most famous Conan stories–two of them printed unedited for the first time, directly from Howard's typescript–along with previously unpublished and rarely seen outlines, notes, and drafts. Collects People of the Black Circle, A Witch Shall be Born, and Howard's only Conan novel: The Hour of the Dragon. Moderate nudity. Ballantine, 2003. ...More.

Signed & Illustrated Bookplate by Gary Gianni, limited to 100. Highly Recommended. By George R.R. Martin. 160 all-new illustrations by Gary Gianni. Taking place nearly a century before the events of A Game of Thrones, this fine new hardcover first edition compiles the first three prequel novellas of Martin's ongoing masterwork! These never-before-collected adventures recount an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living consciousness. Highly Recommended. By Jules Verne. Adapted by Gary Gianni. Introduction by Ray Bradbury. The classic tale of Nemo and the fearsome Nautilus submarine is retold in a wonderful new graphic novel, capturing the vintage feel of the original story, written in the 1860s. The combination of Verne's masterful storytelling and Gianni's dynamic graphic style makes this exciting adventure of life in the first submarine not to be missed. Flesk, 2009. ...More.

Closeout Price! Limited, 300! Collects #1-5, 1945-46. Recommended. By Dick Briefer. Writer/artist Dick Briefer's Frankenstein for Prize Comics is widely regarded as being America's first ongoing horror series. Indeed, it was Briefer's work that probably caused the creature to be actually identified as Frankenstein instead of the nameless monstrosity from Mary Shelley's novel. Splitting the stories between two schools—humor and horror—Briefer's tales are absorbing and unsettling in equal parts. Some of the humorous material has already been reprinted, though not necessarily in order nor in total. Until now! PS Artbooks, 2013. ...More.

Closeout Price! Collects #6-10, 1947. Recommended. Written and drawn by Dick Briefer. Dick Briefer's Frankenstein character, created for Prize Comics, was comic's first ongoing horror series. But unlike every other adaptation, Briefer made the "monster" the star of a comedy strip, with friends who are witches, mummies and strange's a spoof on horror stories. In later issues Frankenstein became a true monster, meting out violent justice with nary a second thought. But in these early stories, it's all good clean fun as the monster tries to cope with a crazy, surreal world that he doesn't quite understand. PS Artbooks, 2014. ...More.

Closeout Price! Our Highest Recommendation. By Chris Claremont and John Bolton. I'm a huge fan of John Bolton's art. Here he is together with X-Men writer of genius, Chris Claremont--and on sale, too! A must-have book. Descended from Caesar, and preceded by her legendary reputation as a warrior, Marada crosses the Roman Empire from adventure to adventure. Stunningly illustrated and collected in its totality for the first time, in full color and accompanied by never-before-seen material. Occasional nudity, adult themes. Four complete stories or horror, sword and sorcery and a beautiful Conan-like adventuress. Titan, 2013. Mature Readers...More.

Highly Recommended. By Lovern Kindzierski. Art by John Bolton. The purest woman on earth allows herself one selfish thought, and conceives the most evil woman the world has ever seen. A classic adult fantasy, with abundant nudity and adult themes, exploring good versus evil.  Virtue gets the daughter she wished for, Shame, releasing this powerful woman to a world ill-prepared for her campaign of evil. Also includes the first 10 pages of the first book in the Tales of Hope trilogy, John Bolton's original pencil layouts, an interview with both Lovern and John about the trilogy, and additional background material. Looks like a fun, unusual story and it's superbly drawn, with all the surreal touches you'd expect for Strange's other-dimensional activities! Doctor Strange enters the last days of magic! They have crossed the dimensions, purging them all of sorcery, one by one. Now the Empirikul have arrived in the Marvel Universe. DOCTOR STRANGE Volume 1 The Way of the Weird
Collects #1-5, 2015. Recommended. By Jason Aaron. Art by Chris Bachalo. Who do you call when things are coming out of your dreams and trying to kill you? Or when your daughter is cursing in Latin and walking like a spider? Or when your dog keeps screaming at you to strangle your neighbors? Doctor Strange, of course. He's the only person standing between us and the forces of darkness, but has he been paying his tab? Possibilities: The Photographs of John Willie is THE book on the artist and photographer John Willie, publisher of the long running fetish magazine Bizarre, creator of Sweet Gwendoline and also Bizarre Comix. This is all about his photography, over 1000 fetish pictures featuring bondage, s&m, kinky outfits and more.

Slip Naked in Your Own Words is a very unusual and very appealing collection of nude photography. I have to say it reminds me very much of Boris Vallejo’s photograpy collection Bodies. Poses are dynamic, with action and tension; lighting is amazing, mostly moody and dark; women are muscular, fit, and extremely sexy.

Complete Bizarre is a warehouse find that ties in nicely with the new John Willie book above. It’s a complete reprint, in two volumes, of his magazine Bizarre. These are banged-up sets that were put aside by us many years ago, but they are much in demand now in any condition. So we have just 11 available, the best condition will go out first.

Finally, we have five SQP titles which are now on sale at half price. These made it into our latest catalog, which may be in your hands shortly, but we hadn’t announced them here, Here’s the list…more next week, or look in Pin-Up and Erotic Art for all titles.

Savage Art of Bob Larkin 1
