Bud Plant & Hutchison Books

Out of Print and Rare Comic-Related,
Illustrated and Children's Books

Anne & Bud in Oakland
This is a sister business to Bud’s Art Books but entirely separate. We have a lot of overlap with Bud’s Art Books in the Rare Books area but I also keep that section more about comic and art books. BP&HB adds to the mix all the categories below, especially older books going back 100 years or more.

We issue e-lists of new arrivals every month or so. Sign up on the Bud Plant & Hutchison Books website or call or email us.

Almost 4,000 titles available
This “sister business” is primarily run by Anne Hutchison from her office. Bud’s Art Books is a separate business even though Bud participates in both, but contacting Bud’s Art Books about this business is not as effective as working directly with Anne. Equally, Anne cannot help with general Bud’s Art Books business.

Our website is pretty new and we’re quite proud of it. It will alert you to upcoming shows that we exhibit at; new arrivals; and much of our stock, close to 4,000 titles and growing. We also have a great number of yet-to-be-listed books, so we’re happy to take want lists or check our stock for you.

We bought a huge collection in 2021 and continue to work our way through it, as I have mentioned in my editorials. It consisted of 500 boxes of books ranging from traditional illustrated books and signed/limited editions, back to 1900, and hundreds of items that Bud’s Art Books has handled over the past 50 years. It will be quite some time before we get these all listed; condition is exceptional and there are many rare items. We also buy single books and collections, as does Bud’s Art Books. There is a lot of overlap between books handled by the two businesses.
