SUPERMAN The Golden Age Omnibus Volume 1
New edition. Collects Action Comics #1-31, Superman #1-7 and New York World's Fair Comics #1-2, 1938-40. Our Highest Recommendation. By Jerry Siegel. Art by Joe Shuster, with Jack Burnley and Wayne Boring. Foreword and afterword by none other than Jim Steranko. These groundbreaking stories cementing Superman's place as the medium's most enduring hero are gathered for the first time in this massive, expansive collection. This collects every single Superman story from the fabled origin on for three full years...1938 to December, 1940! Here is the original Superman, who began as a heroic crusader who could only leap, not fly, and was operating way outside the law. Police were shooting at him as often as bad guys. John Byrne's Fantastic Four

Collects Fantastic Four #232-240; Annual #16 & Roast #1, 1981-82. Highly Recommended. By John Byrne, Stan Lee et al. Art by Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko et al. The Fantastic Four are going back to basics! This collects the debut of John Byrne writing AND drawing, kicking off his celebrated run. Byrne's deft balance, renewing the characters' core, revitalizing old foes and introducing new concepts, gave the FF a bold new vitality. Marvel's First Family were back to the lofty heights of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. In fact, the Lee/Kirby contribution to FF's 20th Anniversary is one of the many bonus treats this volume has in store. FANTASTIC FOUR BY JOHN BYRNE Omnibus Volume 1
Fantastic Four #215-262 + much more, 1977-83. Recommended. By John Byrne, Chris Claremont et al. Art by Jack Kirby and Ron Wilson. If there is any run of FF that most closely recaptures the magic of Stan and Jack's first 100 issues, this is it for me! It was the world's greatest comic magazine -- again! Not since those hallowed issues had a creator so perfectly captured the classic sense of adventure of Marvel's First Family. Fresh off an earth-shattering and reputation-making run as penciler on Uncanny X-Men, John Byrne proved his writing talent was every bit the equal of his art as he pulled double-duty, including the classic players from Skrulls and Dr. Doom, to Subby and Galactus and the Silver Surfer. JOHNNY HAZARD NEWSPAPER DAILIES Volume 7 1954-1956
Shades of Alex Toth!!! Highly Recommended. By Frank Robbins. Frank Robbins' masterpiece, one of the all-time greatest action/adventure newspaper comic strips. One look at it reveals artwork that looks SO much like Alex Toth--like the best of Alex Toth. Imagine if Alex Toth was drawing Steve Canyon--lots of action in the sky, beautiful damsels in distress and bad girls. That's it! Not sure who influenced who, but this is exciting work, with great action sequences. "One of the most important adventure strips ever to grace newspapers." Hermes Press, 2019...More.

SANDRA ON THE ROCKS Volume 1
By David Lumsdon. Art by Eisu. Freckle-faced Sandra is the girl next door striving to become the next top model, but so far her career has been more booth babe than runway walker. White Sale

WARREN TUFTS' COMPLETE LANCE 1955-1960
Special new White Sale price! 1955-60. Our Highest Recommendation. By Warren Tufts. Fans have been asking for this ever since I first began selling comics 50 years ago. Warren Tuft's masterpiece Lance includes the entire run of this magnificent comic strip in one volume with the Sundays in full glorious color! Each daily and Sunday has been beautifully restored by Manuel Caldas. Also included in this volume: an in-depth analysis of Tufts' work on Lance by Zoran Djukanovic, biographical information, and more! Tufts was actually emulating Hal Foster's Prince Valiant, right down to the lack of word balloons, an ironic narrator, and brilliantly designed artwork in every panel. This is one of the best Sunday adventure strips you will ever see. Classic Comics Press, 2018...More.

Item Code: WARTH
Hard Cover, 9x12, 368pg, Full Color
$100.00 $45.00

Please read my complete description for more about this monumental work. In all seriousness, this is very much in the vein of Hal Foster's Prince Valiant. It's that good, both in suspenseful, exciting story AND in the panoramic and action-packed art.

This is my hands-down favorite newspaper strip collection for the year. Literally a forgotten strip, it deserves exactly what we have here...a superbly printed, complete collection, including essays and background material. This self-syndicated Sunday Page was only handled by a handful of papers in its day. Frustrated by his lack of control with the Casey Ruggles page, Tufts gave that up while it was stil in its prime, to put all his energy into this creator-owned work of art. A masterpiece of comic strip storytelling and art. And now it's less than half price. ‘nuff said.

CASEY RUGGLES A Saga of the West Volume 1
Special Sale Price 1949-55. Highly Recommended. By Warren Tufts. Warren Tufts is one those rare artist‘s artists, hugely admired by his fellow creators. Tufts' assistants were another talented list: Al Plastino (Superman artist), Edmond Good, Alex Toth, and the super DC creator Ruben Moreira. Tufts is not so well known to the public today, but this small body of work--and then his next project, Lance-- captured devoted admiration from fans AND other creators, for quality stories AND quality artwork. Casey Ruggles is a smart and brave adventurer, in and out of scrapes with nefarious villains and beautiful women. Classic Comics Press, 2018...More.

Item Code: CASR01H
Hard Cover - No Dustjacket, 12x9, 336pg, Full Color
$59.95 $24.95

Also by Warren Tufts, this was his first strip, which preceded Lance by just a few years. It's very much in the same vein, a unique look at the west from a different perspective. And beautiful artwork.

THE CISCO KID Volume 1
Special Sale Price! Dailies, 1951-53. Highly Recommended. By Rod Reed and Jose Luis Salinas. Volume 1 begins at the very beginning on January 15, 1951 to January 31, 1953. Based on the Western character created by short story writer O. Henry! The Cisco Kid starred in his own comic strip for over 15 years, bringing unparalleled authenticity and realism to "western" adventure. Loaded with amazing artwork by Jose Salinas, whose fine-line work rivals that of Frank Godwin and even Frazetta's own work at the same time on Johnny Comet. Introduction written by Mad Magazine contributor Sergio Aragones, this is an amazing collection of Golden Age Western action! Classic Comics Press, 2011...More.

Item Code: CIS01
Soft Cover, 8x11, 240pg, b&w
$24.95 $12.50

Also on sale is Volume 2 [CIS02. $24.95, $14.95], which is in shorter supply than the other two, and Volume 3 [CIS03. $24.95, $12.50]. We were also expecting Volume 4 as part of this sale, but it didn't show up in our shipment. We'll announce it if and when we get them.

RUSTY RILEY DAILIES Volume 1
Special Sale Price Dailies, 1948-49. Highly Recommended. By Frank Godwin. First appearing on January 26, 1948, this follows the adventures of orphan Rusty Riley and his faithful dog, Flip. Leaving the orphanage, Rusty is hired by wealthy racehorse owner Mr. Miles in the Bluegrass region of Kentucky. Soon Rusty is thrust into the world of horse racing--as well as danger, lost treasure, criminals, and a beautiful comrade! Introduction by Howard Chaykin, interview with Frank Godwin' s daughter Diane, plus a number of Godwin illustrations covering the span of his long and productive career, several in full glorious color! Classic Comics Press, 2013...More.

Sanctum White Sale Pt 4

THE SPIDER MASTER OF MEN Volume 1
Closeout Price! The very first Spider story with his orgin. Highly Recommended. By Norvell Page, writing as Grant Stockridge. The Citadel of Hell & The Spider and The Sons of Satan. "Woe be to criminals who fell into the Spider's web. He'd often execute them before they had a chance to draw their guns." -Jim Steranko. Like Jim, I too find The Spider stories some of the best, even stacked up against Doc Savage and The Shadow. The Spider had a level of both daring and violence that is just so much fun...the police were as willing to gun him down as the criminals were, since he was, literally, a vigilante killer. He just killed bad guys, with absolutely no remorse! Packed with the superb historical extras that are the hallmark of Sanctum Books. Sanctum, 2013...More.

Item Code: SID01
Soft Cover, 7x10, 128pg, Text/b&w
$14.95 $6.95

Then, the Long Arm of the Law becomes ensnared in the crossfire of a bloody tong war between the Underworld and The Red Hatchets. BONUS: From the pages of Crime Busters, the first Norgil the Magician story by The Shadow's Walter B. Gibson writing as Maxwell Grant. Sanctum, 2009...More.

NEIL GAIMAN The Ocean at the End of the Lane
Superbly and profusely illustrated in this deluxe new edition. Highly Recommended. By Neil Gaiman. Art by Elise Hurst. Once upon a time in a rural English town, an eleven-year-old girl named Lettie Hempstock showed a little boy the most marvelous, dangerous, and outrageous things beyond his darkest imagination. But an ancient power has been disturbed, and now invasive creatures from beyond the known world are set loose. There is primal horror here, and menace unleashed—within the boy's family and from the forces that have gathered to consume it. Determined to get what they want, these otherworldly beings will destroy a meddling little boy if he dares to get in the way. It will take calm, courage, and the cleverness of the extraordinary Hempstock women—Lettie, her mother, and her grandmother, to keep him alive. But his survival will come at an unexpected cost. . . . DC BOMBSHELLS MARY SHAZAM! Statue
Numbered & limited, 5000. Recommended. Designed by Ant Lucia. Mary Marvel has grown up, and is she a beauty! The favorite youngster of the Marvel family is now a drum major and the newest addition to the DC Bombshells statue line. OK, ok, she's now Mary Shazam, according to DC. But this still captures that Fawcett magic that fans so love from the 1940s, at least I think so as a fan myself. Except that little Mary Marvel is now a beautiful young lady, with a winning smile and a salute to her fans. Designed by Ant Lucia, sculpted by Tim Miller. Japanese Woodblock Prints

JAPANESE WOODBLOCK PRINTS 1680-1938
Taschen does it again--a massive fifteen-pound, oversize volume in a fancy box. Includes 17 fold-outs. Recommended. By Andreas Marks. This book lifts the veil on a much-loved but little-understood art form by presenting the 200 most exceptional Japanese woodblock prints in their historical context. Ranging from the 17th-century development of decadent ukiyo-e, or “pictures of the floating world,” to the decline and later resurgence of prints in the early 20th century, the images collected in this edition make up an unmatched record not only of a unique genre in art history, but also of the shifting mores and cultural development of Japan. From mystical mountains to snowy passes, samurai swordsmen to sex workers in shop windows, each piece is explored as a work of art in its own right, revealing the stories and people behind the motifs. ...so please accept our very best wishes for you and your family this holiday. Thanks for your support this year. Now we head into 2020 and we will be celebrating our 50th year in business. Really!?! I'm not quite sure how yet, but we'll come up with something fun.

I am very grateful that I still enjoy doing this. It's truly a blessing to be able to make a career from something you enjoy—in my case, comics, art and illustration. I'm glad that I started when I was 18 years old...so I'm not yet too ancient to keep going for a while longer!
