Zatana of course is the lovely daughter of DC's first magician, Zatara, and she's like the Doctor Strange of the DC Universe. Screenwriter and comic creator Paul Dini has been a producer and writer for several Warner Bros. Animation/DC Comics animated series, most notably Batman: The Animated Series (1992—1995), and the subsequent DC Animated Universe. LOVE AND ROCKETS The Sketchbooks
Recommended. Fantagraphics published two sketchbook volumes in 1989 and 1992; now, a single volume collects both PLUS a trove of other rarely-seen artwork. Both Gilbert and Jaime Hernandez developed their skills in the pages of Love & Rockets, and as quickly as any artists ever have. But they built up to their 1981 self-published debut with years of experiments, fan art, zine illustrations, early short comics, and gig posters, and continued to work out in personal sketchbooks after establishing themselves as the preeminent cartoonists they became. Includes good girl art, nudity and adult material. Fantagraphics, 2024. Mature Readers Due: Apr....More.

Featuring Gilbert Hernandez’s bosomy character Fritz, a B-movie actress (and half-sister to his iconic Love and Rockets character, Luba) whose hourglass figure has earned her a cult following. While Gilbert often explores Fritz’s troubled life off-screen in Love and Rockets, for years he has also been "adapting" her exploitation films. Here are three: one entirely new, two expanded from their original appearances in the ongoing Love and Rockets comic book series. Fantagraphics, 2023....More.

LOVE AND ROCKETS THE FIRST FIFTY The Classic 40th Anniversary Boxed Collection
Special Order - takes 3-4 weeks! Highly Recomended. In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Fantagraphics’ flagship series, this prestigious box set presents bound facsimiles of the original fifty issues of the Love and Rockets comics & magazines. Gilbert and Jaime Hernandez are now recognized as two of the greatest cartoonists, award-winning, world-renowned, critically acclaimed. But in 1982 when the first issue of Love and Rockets came out, they (occasionally working with their brother, Mario) were two young, struggling, unknown cartoonists who were bucking the dominant comic book trend of costumed characters and adolescent content with intimate, complex, humane, novelistic stories told in comics form. GREEN LANTERN / GREEN ARROW Hard Traveling Heroes Omnibus
Our Highest Recommendation. Should heroes be concerned with the galaxy when they can’t help their own planet? It’s a pointed question that Green Arrow asks Hal Jordan (Green Lantern) . Dennis O’Neil and Neal Adams tackle subjects in this superhero story that had never been seen in mainstream comics before — drugs, violence, homelessness. Travel across the United States with Oliver Queen and Hal Jordan as their superhero alter egos try to understand the subtleties of issues that our country was facing in the 1970s. Sketchbook in hand, Stan Mack haunted the New York City environs, watching, listening, overhearing, and interviewing its inhabitants. He drew a comic strip every week based on what he saw and heard, famously using verbatim dialogue for his graphic dramatizations. A mixture of humor, spontaneity, serendipity, and weirdness, Mack’s comic strip snapshots caught New Yorkers — whether it is an extortionist calligrapher, a baby evading arrest at her first protest, a stroll up Broadway with a ferret, an evening with a male liberationist, or an unlucky-in-love dolphin trainer — being who they are in all their unguarded and uninhibited glory. A DOORWAY TO JOE The Art of Joe Coleman
150 paintings. Testimonials by fellow artists and creators. Joe Coleman paints incredibly detailed portraits of sinners, saints, freaks, and personal friends that collectively present a dark history of America. Painting with a single-hair brush and a jeweler's loupe, the artist states he only knows when the painting is done because he runs out of room on the canvas. With a body of work that spans five decades (including his early work as a comic book artist), Coleman's work includes subjects such as Hank Williams, Ed Gein, Jayne Mansfield, and his wife and muse, Whitney Ward. Coleman not only captures his subject's likeness, but his portraits also serve as ambitious narratives of the subject's life. Told in lozenges scattered throughout the often-larger-than-life works, the portraits contain scenes from the subject's life and words and phrases. Coleman is not afraid to explore the dark reaches of the human psyche, but also portrays a distinct humanity in his subjects and often includes a touch of humor. Fantagraphics, 2024. Two of Jodorowsky’s most philosophically daring collaborations: the comedic and ironic misadventures of a confused Philosophy professor on the path to spiritual awakening, Madwoman of the Sacred Heart, illustrated by the masterful Mœbius; and what can only be referred to as an exercise in imagination, born from a mutual love of word, image, and mind, Twisted Tales with François Boucq. Highly Recommended. By Steve Desberg. Art by Dan Panosion. Filled with car chases, intrigue, and beautiful women with quite a bit of nudity. John Tiffany is one of the best bounty hunters in the world. Given his precarious line of work, he has found that he can only truly trust four people: one is the insanely gorgeous Magdalena, a sex worker he has foolishly fallen in love with. Furthermore, as this magnificent book reveals, he was also a skilled sculptor, painter, and cartoonist. Spectacular production, which features quarter binding, gold foil stamping, embossing on the cover and spine, a belly band, and silkscreen printing on three edges.
