ATLAS COMICS LIBRARY Volume 4 War Comics #1
Our Highest Recommendation. Major Historical Essay by Dr. Michael J. Vassallo. Forged in the crucible of the Korean War, and produced by veterans of the Second World War, this volume's eight issues present the brutality and grimness of armed combat by some of Atlas' most notable war artists and future Marvel Age stars: Gene Colan, Russ Heath, Joe Maneely, Dave Berg, Jay Scott Pike, Mike Sekowsky, et al. Propaganda abounds from the very first story, published in War Comics #1 in September 1950: "Peril in Korea," a primer explaining why the US joined the conflict. Other highlights include Colan's "The Chips are Down" and "Victory," Heath's "Alone" and "No Survivors," Maneely's "Stormy Weather," Henkel's "Total Destruction," and Berg's "The Infantry's War." SPECTRE — THE WRATH OF THE SPECTRE Omnibus
New printing. Our Highest Recommendation. 1966-81. By Gardner Fox & Murphy Anderson, Michael Fleisher & Jim Aparo, Neal Adams et al. Originally introduced in 1940 and co-created by Jerry Siegel, co-creator of Superman, the Spectre was a green-caped, white-skinned, all-powerful demi-god who meted out his own version of justice — very grim justice! DC's grim arbiter resurfaced in the 1960s, brought back by the dream-team of Julius Schwartz, Gardner Fox and Murphy Anderson in Showcase in 1966, then in The Brave and the Bold, in ten issues of his own title, also by Fox and Anderson, and ultimately returned to the all-powerful 1940s version dark Spectre as reimagined by Fleisher and Aparo in Adventure Comics #431-440. What we have here are ALL of those great Silver Age appearances!!! DC Comics, 2025....More.

Another top-tier outstanding collection in this fine series. Originally introduced in More Fun Comics #42 in 1940 and co-created by Jerry Siegel, co-creator of Superman, DC's grim arbiter of justice, the Spectre, resurfaced in the 1960s for all-new — and sometimes controversial — stories demonstrating the true power of his vengeance. Psychedelic starfish, omniscient owls, sinuous dragons, and bizarre imaginary sea creatures! A nearly unknown German professor of art drew this brilliant, almost mind-boggling portfolio of Art Nouveau-inspired images. The subjects often tip in the realm of fantasy. Every page is worth framing. New from Flesk and Tran Nguyen

SPECTRES By Tran Nguyen
Highly Recommended. A curated collection of over 110 smaller artworks made in the past decade. Each painting is a means of exploration, a study whose purpose is to develop a deep understanding of new media. The works depict loosely rendered female portraits or, occasionally, animals. They were created without the restraints imposed by extensive preliminaries that Tran often adheres to as part of her standard illustration process. This study series started out as an outlet for trying new ideas, materials, color palettes and substrates, without the looming pressure of perfection or deadlines. They fulfill Tran's need to be adventurous, which allows her to stumble with her brushstrokes and evolve as an artist. Flesk, 2025....More.

Tran illustrates for magazines, books, product packaging, advertising and mural art. Her clients include Smithsonian magazine, Tiger Beer, the World Wildlife Fund and Amazon, and she has been showcased in galleries across the world. “Ambedo is a collection of all of the sweat and tears I’ve shed in the past decade of my career." LACKADAISY Volume 1
Closeout Price! Highly Recommended. Deluxe Hardcover in Jacket. By Tracy J. Butler. The cult classic, Eisner Award-nominated webcomic, finally available in a handsome collected edition. It’s 1927 and Prohibition is in full effect in St. Louis, Missouri. Organized crime has risen to meet the relentless demand for illicit alcohol. Bootleggers, gangsters, and might-makes-right rule dominate the city’s underworld, fueled by the patrons of speakeasies like Lackadaisy. In the tradition of Blacksad, a delightful anthropomorphic world... The style of the comic is highly detailed, with elegantly attired cartoon characters that resemble styles from animated films of Walt Disney and Don Bluth. The earlier strips are sepia-toned, resembling aged photographs of the 1920s era, while more recent pages can be seen fully colored, often in shades of deep blue. Launched by Butler in July 2006, the comic updates on an irregular basis, with the most recent update published in 2020. Iron Circus Comics, 2024....More.

For the first time ever, Skywald’s famous, never printed magazine!! This would have been the first adult Sci-Fi comic since EC’s Incredible Science Fiction, but the belief of the publishers, Sol Brodsky (“Sky”, who was a long time Marvel production person) and Israel Waldman (“Wald”), that SF just didn’t sell plus budgetary constraints, meant the magazine was withdrawn, although only after film had been made and just before delivery to the printers! PS Artbooks, 2025. SFOM01. Comic, 7x10, 68pg, b&w $22.99

Flesk Publisher News

“The first topic is regarding our upcoming The Horror Art of Bruce Timm book. I actually have an advance copy of the book right here on my desk as I type this. I’m intentionally not sharing any previews or information about the book yet. It has been printed and it’s making the journey from Hong Kong to Santa Cruz, CA along with the new Art of Daniel Warren Johnson art book. Look for both around the beginning of December.

With the success of the new Portfolio by Mark Schultz book, we are now planning a Carbon collection for 2026. Once we've sorted out all of the details we'll be sure to share all of the specifications and its release date. A new Bill Stout collection, The Comics Volume 1, is in the works also.

Note: Mark Schultz’s Portfolio is now out of print. We have 12 copies left, still at cover price [MSPORT. $49.95]. Signed by Mark. Here is more by Mark Schultz, including his Various Drawings Volumes 2-5 and the Illustrators Special Quarterly #48 (cover A is out of print, we have just 9 copies left) [IQ48A and IQ48B. $30 ea].

Prince Valiant Vol 30 and 31

Vol 30 will be here any day now, release is Nov 18. Volume 31: 1997-98 is coming in June of 2026. The march to the end of the Cullen Murphy era and the beginning of the Gary Gianni era continues. Here’s an advance look at Vol 31:

"On its sixtieth anniversary, the strip looks back on Prince Valiant’s eventful life as many threads begin to come together that will change the face of Camelot. Dire times as a three-way war erupts between Arthur’s British kingdom, the Picts, and the Jutes; Aleta, Maeve, and Ingrid are thrown into prison; Camelot falls to a barbarian army; and King Arthur makes a last stand. Plus: Galleries of the best images from Prince Valiant by its creator Hal Foster chosen by artist admirers and comic-strip experts."

Comic Book Creator 40: Remembering Dave Stevens

We’re pleased that this is not yet sold out! It’s a superlative issue, so we packed in a lot of extra copies to satisfy demand [CBCR40. $24.95]. Twomorrows was hit rather hard by the Diamond bankruptcy, so we don’t anticipate them to be printing lots of extra on new books like this and others recently announced. FYI. No "Vintage" Calendars this year

The Vintage line of calendars (Science Fiction, Pulp, Classic Comics, etc) line went up to the rather outrageous price of $30 each; $25 was already a lot for what could be a $15.99 or $17.99 or maybe tops, a $19.99 calendar. They didn’t bother to contact us months ago when all the other calendar manufacturers did…so the line slipped by without our ordering them. All the calendars we ARE handling are on the website and in the latest catalog.
