| I sat down with this last night and could not put it down. Its a wild ride, unlike anything I’ve ever read in comics. I really, really liked it. Not just our cute young protagonists, who’s nude through most of her “ghostly” wanderings (she swims through the air, weightless), well, that is a treat. March is a superb artist. But the story is powerful and I lean to really care for this sad, unhappy young lady. We learn about her life and loves and alongside her the reader explore her world (Paris, or a city in Spain perhaps) and her life choices to get her to commiting suicide. It takes some wild turns but I really loved where it goes and how it all beautifully wraps up. Totally satisfying, a nice long story reminding me a bit (well, the angels do) of the heaven/hell show “The Good Place.” But way, way further out there in fantasy land! |
