BLAZING COMBAT Our Highest Recommendation. By Archie Goodwin, Frank Frazetta, Wally Wood, Alex Toth et al. These stories are among the best comics stories about war ever published. Written and edited by Hall of Famer Archie Goodwin, and drawn by fellow comic book Hall of Famers Frank Frazetta, Wallace Wood, John Severin, Alex Toth, Al Williamson, Russ Heath, Reed Crandall, and Gene Colan. Building on the tradition of Harvey Kurtzman's much-lauded EC titles, Two-Fisted Tales and Frontline Combat, Goodwin's stories offer striking personal insights into the minds and emotions of individual soldiers and civilians. Covering wars from ancient times through Vietnam, Blazing Combat, unlike much of the popular media of the time, underscored the very madness of war itself in starkly personal terms. The action moves from Earth to the lunar surface as Moon Maid zaps bad guys, Lizz goes undercover, Tracy nearly loses his head--and, when Diet Smith sets up a factory on the moon, will mankind also export greed and murder to its crime-free orbiting satellite? THE POST-PRE-RAPHAELITE PRINT Warehouse find, 1995. Limited, 1500. Etching, Illustration, Reproductive Engraving, & Photography in England In And Around The 1860s. Recommended. The first purpose of the exhibition and the accompanying catalogue were to demonstrate to an American audience the beauty and interest of British prints from the decade of the 1860s and the PRB Brotherhood who took art and design in new directions. Engraving, illustration, etching, and photography each flourished in the period, and each has been studied, collected, and exhibited in strict isolation from the other three, as if the others, for all intents and purposes, did not exist. This catalogue features and discusses instead, where they are related and what distinguishes them: their technical possibilities, economic underpinnings, traditions, and audiences. Some of the many artists in this collection include Dante Gabriel Rossetti, John Everett Millais, Edward Coley Burne-Jones, Walter Crane, Paul Tabor, John Tenniel and James McNeill Whistler.
