SNOW, GLASS, APPLES Signed
Signed bookplate! Our Highest Recommendation. By Neil Gaiman. Art by Colleen Doran. A chilling fantasy retelling of the Snow White fairy tale by New York Times bestselling creators Neil Gaiman and Colleen Doran! A not-so-evil queen is terrified of her monstrous stepdaughter, Snow White--who literally murders the king. Roles are reversed and this evil creature cannot be destroyed. We added an illustrated bookplate signed by Colleen before I knew just how beautiful a work this is. Colleen's art and design (there are very few actual panels) are inspired by Art Nouveau illustrator and stained glass designer Harry Clarke. This is gorgeous, page after page!! Adult situations and nudity throughout. Dark Horse, 2019. Mature Readers...More. Item Code: SNOHS Hard Cover, 7x10, 64pg, Full Color $17.99 |
I briefly mentioned this a few weeks ago. I thinks it's one of the finest graphic novels I've seen, but we blew through our copies and it went out of print overnight. Our sales were even more because artist Colleen Doran mentioned on her website that we'd done a bookplate with her, and that we might still have copies. Bottom line, the new printing is here and I'm so pleased to finally feature this. I have 25 copies in stock and have already ordered more. See our website for more by Colleen Doran and by Neil Gaiman. |

THE SEVENTH VOYAGE
Recommended. By Stanislaw Lem. Art by Jon J Muth. "... J Muth's hilarious and gentle masterpiece." - Neil Gaiman. Alone in his broken spaceship--with no one there to help him--Tichy could remain trapped in space indefinitely! But soon something strange begins to happen: Tichy's past and future selves appear. A sharply comical story by renowned sci-fi writer Lem, adapted by Caldecott Honor and Eisner Award-winning artist Jon J Muth (Moonshadow, Sandman: The Wake, Swamp Thing: Roots). Graphix, 2019...More. CHARLOTTE BRONTË BEFORE JANE EYRE
Recommended. Art by Glynnis Fawkes. Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre is a beloved classic, celebrated today by readers of all ages and revered as a masterwork of literary prowess. But what of the famous writer herself? Charlotte, like her sisters Emily and Anne, was passionate about her work in a time when women authors were nearly unknown--and looked down upon. But since childhood she and her sisters composed stories, and through hardship (losing both mother and later on, their father) they worked as teachers and governesses while continuing to write. RETURN TO ROMANCE The Strange Love Stories of Ogden Whitney
1959-64. Highly Recommended. By Richard Hughes. Introduction by Liana Finck, Afterword by Dan Nadel. Nine stories by turns amusing and disturbing, a provocative window into male-female power dynamics as conceived by one of mid-century America's foremost comic book writers (stories are uncredited but we expect most were by ACG editor/writer Richard Hughes) and his go-to artist. Both Hughes and artist Ogden Whitney were masters of American comics. Both also wrote & drew Adventures Into the Unknown, Forbidden Worlds and the Fat Fury, Herbie.
