Here is their entire Timely output: Captain America #1-10, Marvel Mystery (the Vision) #12-15, USA #1--3, All Winners #1-2, Daring Mystery #1-3, 6-8, the incredibly rare Red Raven #1, and more. But this four-issue volume of Ace's Atomic War! comic doesn't focus on the gentle global warming path to oblivion we're all of us currently taking, but rather the big "Hoo Boy, here comes the End of Everything!" approach we all of us figured would be the way humankind would hand in its chips, namely with mushroom clouds aplenty, bombs the size of city blocks, and floods to make Noah's problem look like he left a faucet running in the bathroom.  PS Artbooks, 2019. News and Notes

Stan Lee: A Marvelous Life by Danny Fingeroth

I'm up to page 98 and we're just getting into who (Stan or Jack Kirby) gets the credit for creating the Fantastic Four #1 in 1961. That and other controversies are squarely addressed, legends are debunked (Martin Goodwin did not find out about the success of the Justice League during a golf game with DC's head), and more. I like the close look at Stan in the early days, circa 1943 (first hired as a gofer for Joe Simon and Jack Kirby), then whisked into the position of editor in chief, juggling his military service with still writing comics, juggling 170 titles during the highly successful Atlas era. And so forth. Much is familiar, but there's new ground here and I enjoy hearing about all the players. Highly Recommended.

Brain Bats of Venus: The Life and Comics of Basil Wolverton Vol 2 – by Rob Sadowski

Oh, what a book. Wolverton unbelievably kept a daily journal through the 1940s and into the 50s. He also kept almost every letter written to him, from rejection letters to story and art critiques from Stan Lee and others. This is a blow by blow, every day look at the tough world of being a comic book artist during the golden age. And of striking it rich, as he won the "ugliest girl" contest in Li'l Abner and became an overnight celebrity. Capitalizing on that to do major advertising campaigns (usually caricatures) for oil companies, newsrooms and others. Then having that fall off and re-entering comics during the pre-code horror boom, producing some of his most amazing horrific stories for the fly-by-night Stanley Morse and again, for Stan Lee. This is the second of three huge, massive books packed with rare artwork, photos and insights into this amazingly prolific and industrious humorist and illustrator. I love it. Volume 1 is also in stock, Creeping Death from Neptune.

Ditko Unleashed

This quietly went out of print—it's the most extensive look at Ditko ever, compiled from a major art exhibit in Spain. We just turned up four slightly bumped copies, still at $10 off publication price.

Watchman on HBO

I'm recording them but haven't had a moment to watch the series yet. We have the latest edition, the prequel and more in stock.

Sky Masters Complete Sundays

As promised last week, we received the last 12 as-new copies that we will get, as well as twelve slightly hurt copies. You can see what this looks like—about a 1" scuff on the lower back cover. We've priced these at $100.

Classics Comics Last Chance

I'm dropping most of the older Jack Lake reprints to make room for other things here. This includes titles like White Fang, Time Machine, War of the Worlds, Rough Rider, Journey to the Center of the Earth. Most are $10; several are on sale at $5.99 or $7.99. See our website for these, and look for ones that say "almost gone" in red, at the beginning of the description. As I write this, we have anywhere from three or four, to six copies of these.
