DAWN / VAMPIRELLA
New from the master of good-girl art. Recommended. By Joseph Michael Linsner. Joseph Michael Linsner, the celebrated creator of Dawn, writes and illustrates the first-ever crossover event for his beloved goddess, teaming her -- and pitting her against -- horror icon Vampirella! When the silver-tongued demon Masodik kidnaps these beautiful, powerful women, he demands that the two engage in a catfight to prove which is best suited as his new paramour. The ladies suggest combat by a more sophisticated and feminine means: by engaging in a storytelling contest. Dawn and Vampirella take us a on journey to the bloody shores of Drakulon, post-apocalyptic New York, and worlds beyond imagination. Dynamite, 2019...More.

ANIMAL FARM THE GRAPHIC NOVEL
Adapted and illustrated by Odyr. A full painted graphic adaptation of George Orwell's timeless allegorical novel. “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” In 1945, George Orwell, called “the conscience of his generation,” created an enduring, devastating story of new tyranny replacing old, and power corrupting even the noblest of causes. Today it is all too clear that Orwell's masterpiece is still fiercely relevant wherever cults of personality thrive, truths are twisted by those in power, and freedom is under attack. ELMO 1 DAILY COMIC STRIPS 1946-48 SIGNED
Signed & numbered by the author. Recommended. By Cecil Jensen. Introduction by Frank M. Young. Created by journeyman political cartoonist Cecil Jensen, Elmo hit the American comics page in the fall of 1946. With an absurd cool worthy of Nathanael West and dust-dry humor on par with W. C. Fields or S. J. Perelman, Elmo was the right idea at the wrong time. Exiled from his own strip within two years, this can-do Candide shoulda been a contender. Though a blip on the national radar, Elmo offered readers quirky humor, surprising violence and a cast of craven, conniving and quixotic characters--including a bevy of beautiful young ladies, both good and bad. Labor of Love, 2019...More.

I GO POGO
Facsimile of the 1952 first edition. Highly Recommended. By Walt Kelly. This compilation features comics from the election year of 1952, during which Pogo's neighbors encouraged the reluctant possum to run for president. Their rallying cry, "I Go Pogo," parodied Dwight D. Eisenhower's "I Like Ike" slogan and provided real-life fans with a write-in candidate. Kelly's sly humor and flair for creative language replete with malapropisms and nonsense verse retain their imaginative verve for comics enthusiasts of the twenty-first century. Dover, 2019...More.

Item Code: IGOPO
Soft Cover, 6x9, 180pg, b&w
$14.95

The Pogo newspaper strips (now up to Volume 6) and the seminal Pogo comic books (also now at Volume 6) are all being handsomely collected, including slipcased sets. All are on our website.

We also just purchased a very large Pogo & Walt Kelly collection, including all the original 1950s softcovers (such as I Go Pogo) and some scarce ephemera. Inquire with Todd, who is in charge of these, if you are looking for anything in particular.

Flesk's new The Art of Frank Cho: A Twenty-Year Retrospective will be available for your advance order very soon. We're just hammering out the details.

Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., has announced the release of the first four volumes of the Edgar Rice Burroughs Authorized Library. This new series presents for the first time the complete catalog of Burroughs' literary works in handsome uniform, hardcover editions, featuring dust jacket art by renowned artist Joe Jusko, and rare and previously unpublished supplementary material. The new jackets look great! These are under our minimum to advertise them in advance, but they are on order now, and we'll be offering a special price for the set of 4.

From Sunbeams to Sunset: The History of Australian Comics hasn't flown off our shelves, but it has done pretty well. I quite like it, and it features work by Stanley Pitt and Arthur Dixon (Catman), two standouts that fans like me have always liked. Anyway, our U.S. supplier immediately sold out. We have just four left as I write this. But we're working directly with the Australian publisher now to get more, and additionally, we may get some of the limited signed editions, two different, that were only available on their Kickstarter program. So stay tuned for more details.
