Highly Recommended. This issue of the "official" EC Horrorzine is dedicated to EC writer, artist and editor Al Feldstein. Steven Ringgenberg shares his Feldstein interviews with us. The issue is filled with highly illustrated articles and interviews, plus many drawings created especially for the issue. Thommy Burns recounts his earliest EC memories and his brother Josh Burns fills us in on the first EC Fan-Addict Club panels at the San Diego Comicon, while editor Bill Leach gives us the scoop on the most recent panel. Jon Gothold comes up with some of EC's most "Good Lord!" moments. Dennis Cunningham, 1960's publisher of Weirdom Illustrated shares the unpublished story "Spoiled Rotten" that was inspired by pre-code EC Comics. Bill Leach Collectibles, 2023....More.

Never-before-seen preliminary sketches and pencil art from The Creeper, Shade the Changing Man, The Odd Man, The Demon, Wonder Woman, Legion of Super-Heroes, The Fly, and even Ditko’s unused redesign for Batman! This is a steal for how nice the original drawing in each one is!

THE CHILLINGLY Weird Art of Matt Fox
Our Highest Recommendation. Matt Fox (1906-1988) first gained notoriety for his bizarre cover paintings on the pulp magazine Weird Tales from 1943 to 1951. His created ghouls, demons, and grotesqueries of all types, evoking a disquieting horror vibe that no one since has ever matched. He went on into comics and his 1950s cover illustrations, his lone story for Chilling Tales, put them at the top of all pre-code horror comic enthusiasts' want lists. He brought his evocative storytelling skills (and an almost Basil Wolverton-esque ink line) to Atlas/Marvel horror comics of the 1950s and ‘60s as an inker, too! But since Fox never gave an interview, this unique creator remained largely unheralded until now! TwoMorrows. 2023. ...More.

A very special 2024 Calendar

THE ART OF OMAR RAYYAN 2024 Calendar Signed
Signed! Highly Recommended. Omar Rayyan's oil paintings, depicting beautiful exotic women and their outré, bizarre "pets." We love his rich colors, his imaginative fantasies. What is the story behind each of these incredible images? You just might find out here. Each month also has a selection of unusual "holidays" such as: Take Your Cat to Work Day, and Bad Poetry Day. 13 unique images, 26 pages, includes bonus page with a 4-month grid for the end of 2023, so you can start enjoying the calendar right away. Calendar starts Sept 2023, ends Dec 31 2024. Very minor, tasteful nudity. Omar Rayyan, 2023. ...More.

We like this so much it will be featured on the cover of our Holiday catalog, ready in a week or two. We recently restocked Omar’s superb Goblin Market, which also comes signed.

GOBLIN MARKET By Omar Rayyan Signed
Back in stock. Signed! Our Highest Recommendation One of our favorite artists illustrates one of our favorite fantasy tales, the 19th century poem by Christina Rossetti, sister of Pre Ralphaelite artist Dante Gabriel Rossetti. It's a very sensual story of two sisters, one tempted by the excesses offered by evil trolls and goblins, who are slowly capturing her very soul. An astonishing 100 drawings and watercolor paintings are packed into an 88-page full color book, an oversized 10x12 inch hardcover with a printed dust jacket and an introduction written by the one and only Charles Vess. This is mind-bogglingly good. Rayyan has pulled out each and every stop and gone way beyond mere illustration. This is a masterpiece, and the finest work we've ever seen from him. Donald M. Grant, 2017....More.

DINOSAURS 2024 Calendar
Recommended. Outstanding, realistic, highly detailed paintings that look like color photographs! An appealing variety of dinosaurs in lush, realistic settings in jungles and on plains. This reminds us of James Gurney's work in his wonderful Dinotopia. A different, very real dinosaur for each month plus a bonus image. From Pterodactyls flying on leathery wings, to classic T-Rex and and long-necked plant-eaters, they are all here in cool setting and backgrounds. Great for all ages. Bright Day, 2023....More.

AVENGERS 100 Collectible Comic Book Cover Postcards
Recommended. By Kirby, Buscema, Perez, Noto, Allred, Rivera, Alex Ross et al. Donald becomes a maharajah, invents an atom bomb and everyone deals with a giant sea serpent! Through a series of trade-ups, the nephews turn Donald’s old pencil stub into a steamship ticket to India! Off they go, and Donald is soon declared to be "Maharajah Donald" — but there’s a catch! Then, Donald accidentally buys a houseboat at an auction that leads to an encounter with a giant sea serpent! Next, "Santa’s Stormy Visit," a Christmas story with none of the trimmings — no man in a red suit, no snow (but a tropical hurricane!), no presents under the tree (no tree!) But still a charming holiday tale. Fantagraphics, 2023....More.

Our Highest Recommendation. Kurt Vonnegut's classic in graphic novel form! Eisner Award-winning writer Ryan North (Unbeatable Squirrel Girl) and Eisner Award-nominated artist Albert Monteys (Universe!) translate a literary classic into comic book form. It's VERY well done, very well illustrated, and a long, deep, rewarding read. I really enjoyed it. -Bud. Billy Pilgrim has read unknown sci-fi writer Kilgore Trout and then met him...opened a successful optometry business; has built a loving family and been a prisoner of war and witnessed the firebombing of Dresden; has traveled to the planet Tralfamadore...and he has come unstuck in time. THE SPIRIT Volume 1 Hardcover
Collects #1-4, 1944-46. Highly Recommended. Cartoonist Will Eisner helped to created many of the seminal heroes for Quality Comics — then left to create The Spirit for the newspapers. So Quality of course began collecting the 8-page stories and here are the first issues of the very first Spirit comic books. Created by Eisner, The Spirit is a masked crime fighter who fights crime with the blessing of the city's police commissioner Dolan, an old friend. Despite the Spirit's origin as detective/criminologist Denny Colt, his real identity was rarely referred to after his first appearance, and for all intents and purposes he was simply "The Spirit." Art by Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko. Sixty years after the comic’s publication, award-winning graphic designer Chip Kidd re-imagines the iconic first story, which was also told in The Amazing Spider-Man no. 1 from March 1963, using original vintage copies of both comic books as well as the original art with handwritten notes to present these classic tales in a whole new way. MARVEL UNIVERSE By Arthur Adams Omnibus
By Chris Claremont et al. Like all great comic book artists, Arthur Adams earned his way in through long, hard work, by hitting the pavement with his portfolio in hand. But it didn’t seem that way. Arthur Adams seemed to burst out of the clear blue sky with an avalanche of unbelievable artwork. Energetic, richly detailed, full of character and just plain fun, his art merged East and West, bringing manga influences to American readers and influencing a generation of future artists. This Omnibus collects his complete Marvel work from the 1980s through the early 1990s in one volume. From Longshot to the X-Men to the New Fantastic Four, from covers galore to pinups, posters, trading cards — not to mention a huge trove of pencils and original art — this is your be-all, end-all Arthur Adams Omnibus! New printing. First published in 2017 and out of print for several years. Our Highest Recommendation. By David Roach. A celebration of the artists who revolutionized horror comics in the 1970s in Warren's Vampirella, Creepy, and Eerie. But much, much more: the first-ever comprehensive history of Spanish comic book art reveals their extraordinary success — in Spain, America, and around the world. 80 artists are examined, including legends like Esteban Maroto, Sanjulian, Segrelles, Jose Gonzalez, Jordi Bernet, Enric, Victor De La Fuente, and Jose Ortiz. 500 illustrations, half scanned directly from the original artwork! Moderate nudity & adult themes. Dynamite, 2022. Condition: Bumped corners. Mature Readers. ...More.

Hard Cover, 8x11, 272 pg, Full Color
$39.99 $19.99

Highly Recommended. By David Roach and Luis Garcia. Luis Garcia was one of the most talented artists of the legendary Spanish Invasion which transformed Warren comics in the 1970s, creating artwork that was both stunningly attractive and astonishingly realistic. Garcia drew for all the Warren titles but was particularly associated with Vampirella, where his innovative artwork and gift for drawing beautiful women was a highlight for several years. But his career encompassed far more; he began his career doing seductive romance strips, found fame in France drawing for Pilote magazine, was a pioneer of autobiographical comics, created some of the earliest and most accomplished graphic novels and then changed careers completely to become a world class painter of portraits and nudes — many of which are collected for the first time here. Dynamite, 2022. Condition: Bumped corners. Mature Readers....More.
