In 2017, the "Godfather of Pop Surrealism," tackled a new medium: ballet — but with his own surreal, abstract themes! In partnership with American Ballet Theatre (ABT), he created "Whipped Cream," a new work that has since become a part of the theatre's repertoire. Featuring interviews with and commentaries from principal dancers"including Misty Copeland, David Hallberg, Stella Abrera, Gillian Murphy, and Daniil Simkin"and members of the creative team, this showcases Ryden's concept art as well as paintings made specifically for this publication. "Cycle Queens of Violence" ... The headlines in classic men's pulp adventure magazines sure could paint a picture ... and so could the masters of pulp art who illustrated them! Three decades of vintage pulp magazine covers and interiors, from the 1950s through the early 1970s, most unseen since their original publication. A unique archive of biker covers and interior illustrations at their most savage, with history and context. New Texture, 2016. Mature Readers....More.

FIRST KINGDOM Portfolio Signed
Publisher File Copy, from 1982. Signed & numbered, 999. Recommended. By Jack Katz. Free Bonus: file copy of the first printing of First Kingdom #1, 1974. A showcase of the artwork from the epic science fiction adventure that reveals the mystery of man's origin and his migration into space. This contains six 11x17 b&w plates in a two-color illustrated portfolio. Jack's art work is some of the most highly detailed in the comics world. Here he could do all that detail in works of much larger size than in the comics format, and it's fun to see him doing the central characters and pivotal scenes, all new for this, with lots of room. IMAGES #13 Portfolio
Numbered from 250. Recommended. By Louis Chalon. The centerpiece of the final issue of Images Magazine was eight gorgeous Art Nouveau plates restored from an 1899 issue of the French art magazine, Figaro Illustré. They appear in Images #13 but are reproduced across double-pages, i.e. across a fold. The subjects here feature beautiful women and highly ornate borders and designs. JVJ, 2014....More.

Poster & DVD

Highly Recommended. A very large, creepy, magnificent painting of a huge Cthulhu, towering hundreds of feet above a lost sailing ship, sails shredded, about to be crushed and sunk into oblivion. It's a dark, stormy scene in the midst of a swirling, crashing ocean—Lovecraft superbly brought to life for your wall. We very much like Luong's excellent Art of Richard Luong, so when he told us he'd privately printed up this cool print, we had to offer it. 2016. Originally released 1968. Directed by Luchino Visconti. Produced by Dino De Laurentiis. In the mid-sixties, famed producer Dino De Laurentiis brought together the talents of five celebrated Italian directors for an anthology film. Their brief was simple: to direct an episode in which beautiful actress Silvana Mangano (Bitter Rice, Ludwig) plays a witch. Franco Rosso (The Woman in the Painting) concocts a story of revenge in "The Sicilian's Wife," while Vittorio De Sica (Shoeshine) casts Clint Eastwood as Mangano's estranged husband in "An Evening Like the Others." A stunning homage to Italian comic books. MVD, 2018....More.
