Numerous examples of original artwork as well as rare tear sheets and photographs. Plus a look at Doc Savage model Steve Holland, by the author of the new book on him; Robert Osonitsch, The Illustrator's Photographer; and 1950s and 60s automotive specialists, Art Fitzpatrick and Van Kaufman. IT'S ALIVE! A VISUAL HISTORY OF FRANKENSTEIN
Recommended. By Elizabeth Campbell Denlinger. Commemorating the two-hundredth anniversary of Frankenstein, trace the origins and impact of Mary Shelley's novel — a classic of world literature, a masterpiece of horror, and a forerunner of science fiction. Shelley conceived the archetype of the mad scientist who dares to flout the laws of nature. She devised a conflicted creature, eloquent and repulsive, torn between good and evil. In the movies he can be a brute pure and simple, yet he is still an object of compassion. Rare & Out of Print

Rare Books Email:

As I mentioned above, we emailed out a list of 61 Rare Books on Wednesday, April 18. Click here to see it on our blog, or click here to see the items on our site.

These are the very beginning of the two collections that I talk about in my editorial in the new catalog. Two of my very good friends passed away in 2020. I am handling their collections, which we'll be listing over the next months.

Richard Dix and Steve Adamovich had been been collecting since the 1960s. They had huge collections of art books, fantasy and sci-fi and comics-related books, including a great many signed/limited editions. Richard had a huge collection of vintage illustrated books dating back to the 1890s…many of these will be listed by Anne in our separate antiquarian business. You can contact Anne at bpandhbooks@me.com to get on her email mailing list. Anne's also working on a brand new antiquarian website.

Note: If you click on an item in the Rare Books list, or search the item code and it does not come up on the website, it is SOLD OUT. Our old website used to let you know an item was sold out, but that's impossible (so far) on our new site. Now the item drops off the site entirely. If you want to double check with us, and/or would like to have us put you down for the next copy that we find, give Todd a call or send him an email.

For example, as I write this, already sold out are:

Drawing with Pen and Ink RB1696
J.C. Coll Art of Adventure Deluxe RB1823
Maxfield Parrish: A Retrospective RB1828
Haddon Sundblom RB1863.
Frank Frazetta Book Five RB1847
The Art of Jon Whitcomb RB1852
Vaughn Bode Lizard Zen RB1810

If you are looking for anything special, contact Todd@budsartbooks.com and we'll see if it's available and/or add it for you to our Want List. A great many of the books we'll be listing are ones we have handled in the past 40 or so years. We plan to ramp up doing more Rare Books emails, one each month from now on, so be sure to sign up. We'll also continue to list new Rare Books most weeks in this email too, or just check the website and select “latest” in each category of Rare Books.
