Bode’s Complete Deadbone Erotica, Anton Seder, Astre, Philip Jose Farmer’s Time Travel, PS Artbooks, Women of Marvel

Big Deal this week is Vaughn Bode’s Complete Deadbone Erotica.

We’re really jazzed about the Anton Seder book shown above, coming in September. Astre from 3dtotal is the nicest book that probably won’t interest everyone, but at least check it out. It’s quite amazing. Plus Philip Jose Farmer’s Time Travel novel; some fine new PS archives and facsimiles; Women of Marvel and much more! Enjoy!

FIGHT COMICS Featuring Tiger Girl Volume 2 Hardcover
Collects #53-68, 1947-50. Recommended. Art by Matt Baker, Jack Kamen et al. The Tiger Girl, created by Robert Webb, started in Fight #32 but only became the cover feature with #51 — after the run of patriotic WWII covers. Her origin is retold here. Up until #64 all her stories are drawn by the fabulous Matt Baker, master of good-girl art. EC mainstay and Good-Girl artist Jack Kamen and the Iger shop took over after that. She was brought from India to Africa by her father Rajah Vishnu, after the death of her Irish mother. With her whip and her magic tiger ring, which gave her added strength, she protected a lost civilization from outsiders. She became one of Fiction House's longest-lived characters, clearly inspired by the adventures of Sheena Queen of the Jungle. Bondage covers and headlights were common to her stories. PS Artbooks, 2025. ...More.

Item Code: FIGTG02H
Hard Cover, 7x10, 184pg, Full Color

Also available in softcover with the same cover, just a different color border. [FIGTG02. $32.99]

Tiger Girl was one of the longest running Fiction House characters, obviously a take-off of Sheena but boasting artwork by none other than Matt Baker in his prime! Also known as Princess Vishnu, she was brought from India to Africa by her father Rajah Vishnu, after the death of her Irish mother. Using her whip and her tiger ring, which gave her added strength, she fought jungle evil with her companions: Benzali, a tiger, and Abdola, an Indian man. PS Artbooks, 2023. ...More.

PIN-UP GIRLS GIL ELVGREN 2026 Calendar (Orange Circle)
Highly Recommended. The very best of Elvgren — these really are many of his finest and most seductive ladies. The best in vintage pin-up (and sometimes humor) from the heyday of the good girl calendars. Here are his superb paintings which have made him the #1 pin-up painter of modern times, even eclipsing Varga. All reproduced oversized and spreading across both calendar pages like a Playboy centerfold. Ladies are caught in some rather precarious situations, or else being unashamedly teasing with little to nothing on. Orange Circle, 2025....More.

Limited Edition based on the 1895 Folio Edition. Special pre-publication price for a limited time. Our Highest Recommendation. By Anton Seder. Text by Thomas Negovan. Psychedelic starfish, omniscient owls, sinuous dragons, and bizarre imaginary sea creatures! A nearly unknown German professor of art drew this brilliant, almost mind-boggling portfolio of Art Nouveau-inspired images. The subjects often tip in the realm of fantasy. Every page is worth framing. Taking the form of the fictional graphic diary of ten-year-old self-identifying "monster" Karen Reyes, and set against the tumultuous political backdrop of late '60s Chicago. This series has become a worldwide sensation since Book One announced Emil Ferris as one of fiction's world-class storytellers in 2017 — and 2024's Book Two triumphantly concluded the epic graphic novel. VAUGHN BODE'S COMPLETE DEADBONE EROTICA OMNIBUS
Highly Recommended. Collecting for the first time in chronological order, underground comix legend Vaughn Bode’s charmingly risque strips and “Bode's Broads” from Cavalier magazine (“the kind men like”). Originally written and drawn in the 1970s, this volume represents a time capsule in erotic humor as only a master of the form could create it. This beautiful hardbound book also collects Bode’s hard-to-find three-page strips and other rarities: Deadbone, Purple Pictography, etc. With a foreword and additional new art from Vaughn’s son, Mark Bode. RAYGUNS AND ROCKETSHIPS Vintage Science Fiction Book Cover Art 2nd Edition
By Rian Hughes. Foreword by Steve Holland. Art by Josh Kirby, Ron Turner, Jack Goggins et al. This is one cool book. We've all seen those wonderful classic pulp covers...on U.S. pulps. But there's another universe of pulp and paperback classics all produced in England and rarely seen in the U.S. Here at last is a full collection! - Bud. Rayguns and rockets! Spacesuited heroes caught in the tentacles of evil insectoid aliens! Who could resist such wonders? Science-fiction paperbacks exploded over the 1940s and ‘50s literary landscape with the force of an alien gamma bomb. Titles such as Rodent Mutation, The Human Bat vs The Robot Gangster, Dawn of the Mutants and Mushroom Men from Mars appeared from fly-by-night publishers making the most of the end of post-war paper rationing. They were brash and seductive — for around a shilling, the future was yours. Korero, 2025....More.

News & Notes

Lost Marvels/Tower of Shadows

This has gone out of print from Fantagraphics. However we found a secondary source and have more coming. Reserve a copy now, it may sell out for us shortly.

EC Fan Addict #7 and a new policy!

Okay… we’ve figured out a way for you to reserve items that normally we do not list until they arrive. We do this because it can wipe out any profit when we have to ship a low-priced item separately and at additional cost.

So—if you would like to preorder EC Fan Addict #7 [ECF07S. $16] you need to order it by itself, as a single-item order, and pay the shipping cost. AND you need to call us and place the order because we have to override our system. This item will NOT appear on the website until it’s actually in stock, but we can override that. The same rule applies to any other item we are not yet listing as coming soon.

Dean Yeagle's Mandy

Due to slowing sales (we’ve handled some of these since 2015 and 2020!), I have to drop Mandy Godiva, Birthday Suit, and One Mandy Morning, as well as Scribblings #2 and #6. We have 2 or 3 copies left of each, act quickly. Dean lost his wife and we are very sad for him; we haven’t seen a new release in some time and he’s been difficult to get reorders from. Act accordingly.

Interview with The Comics Journal

The powers that be (Gary Groth?) got wind that I am retiring. So they contacted me for an interview, which I did last week. It lasted nearly two hours and covered reasons for my retirement as well as some insight into being a collector and fan in the 1960s. I'll send a link when it gets posted.

Diamond Debacle

Diamond Comics Previews is going digital only with the next issue; we have to wonder how many more there will be, period. Diamond is not paying vendors for pre-bankruptcy bills OR for ongoing invoices for product received and sold; publishers are continuing to leave Diamond to make deals with other book distributors: SCB, Lunar, etc.

The good news is we’re back to direct with Dynamite, who was one of the last publishers who stuck with Diamond. So was Hermes, whose books we can now buy from SCB. Diamond’s long time buyer Steve Leaf, an old friend of ours, is now working at Hermes.

For us, in general, the flow of new titles and restocks is for the most part uninterrupted. We are buying very, very little anymore from Diamond. And, sadly, they seem to be in their death throes. Sorry to be blunt, but my sympathy and that of many others went out the window when “New Diamond” stopped paying their bills. And “Old Diamond” announced that, due to a legal loophole, a filing technicality that publishers didn’t know about, they are no longer returning publishers' books consigned to them nor are they paying for old or new books sold.

Publishers are working on a class action recourse (read: lawsuit) but meanwhile whatever assets there are left are being eaten up by exorbitant lawyer fees. The new owners of Diamond seem to be strip-mining the company. Our comic industry giant, once the indispensable source of comics, is gone. Long time agreements and contracts are suddenly null and void.

Rest in Peace

Jim Shooter of course, on June 30.

Peter David (May 24) a fine writer and a friend of mine.

I just now found out we lost Steve Fabian (May 6). A brilliant fantasy artist who carried on in the Virgil Finlay tradition -- winner of the World Fantasy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2025; we’ve carried countless books, portfolios and magazines he illustrated. He only became an illustrator at the age of 54, when he lost his day job! Both Gerry de la Ree and Underwood/Miller did collections of his best work.

George Barr (April 19), another fine fantasy artist whose paperback covers graced hundreds of books and his several illustrated volumes, such as REH’s Red Nails (Donald Grant) and Jack Vance’s The Dying Earth (Underwood/Miller), are legendary. Don Grant did a fine full color book of his work.

If you are looking for art collections on George Barr and Steve Fabian, check with Anne. She has work by both these illustrators in stock. Some may not be on the website yet.
