ALADDIN & THE WONDERFUL LAMP A Tale from the Arabian Nights
Art by Edmund Dulac, René Bull, Thomas Mackenzie et al. Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp had been one of the most loved of all the 1001 Nights stories since it was first translated from Arabic into French by Antoine Galland. It was translated into English by Edward Lane around 1840 and its popularity has only increased since then. This edition uses the Lane translation, but I have edited it to modernize the text a bit by changing obsolete words and expressions, while preserving the original charm and Victorian manners. It is suitable for children and adults alike. Dulacebooks, 2025....More.

Item Code: ALADWH
Hard Cover, 7x10, 134pg, Partial Color
$35.00
The timeless tale of Aladdin and the cave of wonders has been told many times over the years, delighting children and adults everywhere. Now Dulacebooks continues its Tales from the Arabian Nights series with this edition, which presents the classic tale accompanied by beautiful artwork from a host of illustrators from different eras. With over 135 vintage illustrations, this fantastic volume would make a great gift for young and old alike. ~Marty

The paintings of master artist Das Pastoras merge with Nathaniel Hawthorne’s heroic adaptation of Greek myths in a new edition of the book that re-imagines these epic tales for young readers, first written in 1850 and popular ever since. This exquisite edition of A Wonder Book, complete with die-cut slipcase and two color printing throughout, plus the magnificent art by Das Pastoras, will transport readers into these beloved timeless tales. Featuring original essays by Guillermo Del Toro, José Villarubia and Kate Bernheimer — as well as the uniquely Victorian flourish of thirteen tipped-in full-color plates (plus dozens of smaller illustrations in the text) permitting a different paper stock ideal for reproducing the lush and gorgeous colors of Das Pastoras' paintings. BECOMING FRAZETTA The Early Years of a Fantasy Art Master Plus GREY DAWN Limited Signed
KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE COVER EDITION! Signed bookplate by Michael Finn, Sara Frazetta and Mark Schultz! Includes Frazetta's "Grey Dawn" facsimile edition. Recommended. By Michael Finn. Before he was a legend, he was just a Brooklyn kid with a pencil and a dream. Becoming Frazetta is the first book to uncover how he grew into the iconic fantasy painter we revere today. Created in collaboration with the Frazetta Girls and with unprecedented access to the Frazetta family and the archives of Bernard Baily's publishing company, this biography reveals dozens of unpublished pages Frank drew as a teen “ including more than 50 pages of art for what would have been Frank's first published solo stories had Baily's company not gone bankrupt. Includes Frank’s never-before-seen childhood story, "Grey Dawn", alongside rare art by his teacher, Professor Michele Falanga, and his early mentor, John Giunta. Rich with discoveries, this is the untold story of how Frazetta became Frazetta. Thrilling Nostalgia, 2025. Out of print. ...More.

Item Code: BECFGD
Hard Cover, 9x12, 380pg, Partial Color
$225.00
The regular edition of Becoming Frazetta (the one with the Red cover) sold well for us, finding its way into the collections of many a Frazetta collector. When the publishers approached us with the offer to claim the remaining stock of their Kickstarter Exclusive Black Cover edition, we couldn't say no. You'll no doubt be hard-pressed to say otherwise as well with this version, which features the aforementioned black cover, variant cover art, and a bonus book reprinting an early comic book, Grey Dawn, by a 13-year-old Frank Frazetta. We have limited quantities of this version, so don't sleep on this one! ~Marty

DAVID WRIGHT'S JUDY Showcase
The first four story arcs in the precursor series to David Wright's Carol Day! Recommended. By John Hunter as "Peter Meriton" & David Wright. In the early 1950s David Wright made an unusual career move for a successful commercial and pinup artist — he turned to comics. An early product of his new direction was the strip Judy, which he began in 1953 with John Hunter (writing as "Peter Meriton") providing scripts. Judy was a standard adventure strip for the time — a beautiful young girl is thrust into danger with her partner, Ricky, with their treasure-hunting exploits taking them to exotic locales across the globe for a series of loosely plotted melodramas. Slingsby Bros. Ink!, 2026....More.

Item Code: DAVJH
Hard Cover, 12x9, 138pg, b&w

Men's Adventure Magazines

MEN'S ADVENTURE QUARTERLY #14
BIG, BIG, Bigfoot issue! Contributions by Stepehen R. Bissette, cryptozoologist Loren Coleman, and more. Recommended. No matter where you saw him”movies, television, comics, paperbacks, newspapers or magazines... No matter what you called him”Yeti, The Abominable Snowman, Sasquatch, Bigfoot... Hairy, man-like monsters became icons of pop culture, and men's adventure magazines played a major role in making that happen! There were scores of stories about various hominid cryptids”many historically significant”and examples of those stories, along with reprints of rarely seen articles, are presented in this latest issue of Men's Adventure Quarterly! Men's Adventure Quarterly, 2026....More.

Item Code: MENQ14
Magazine, 8x10, 152pg, Partial Color
$34.95
As a kid, my family and I would often travel north to Grass Valley (home to Bud's Art Books) to spend the weekend at our "cabin" (more like a wooden box with a door and a window) on our small plot of land there. As night fell, my imagination conjured visions of encountering Bigfoot amongst the pines. While we never saw evidence of a cryptid visitation, I eventually got a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the production of the "Return of Bigfoot" episode of The Six Million Dollar Man while on a family vacation at Universal Studios Hollywood! Why all the Bigfoot references? Because this 14th issue of Men's Adventure Quarterly is dedicated to Bigfoot and other cryptid anthropoids! It's a great issue filled with classic stories and articles about Yetis, Skunk Apes, Sasquatches, and Mr. B. Foot himself. I really enjoyed this issue! ~Marty

COMIC BOOK CREATOR #43 John Buscema
"Big" John Buscema is the main focus of CBC #43, with a one-on-one interview with the legendary artist conducted by editor Jon B. Cooke “ where the Marvel stalwart reveals the moment when comics broke his heart “ plus an in-depth biographical essay on the artist along with a gallery of his fabled amazing "warm up" artwork. Also in this issue: the tragic fate of ‘70s/’80s Marvel scripter Bill Mantlo; the inside story of early comic printers Eastern Color Printing; and interviews with Shary Flenniken (Part 2), Ivan Katz (on his father, Jack Katz), and Ric Estrada. TwoMorrows Publishing, 2026....More.

$10.95

Another great issue of CBC, this time dedicated to one of Marvel Comics' most legendary artists, "Big" John Buscema. Second only to Jack Kirby in importance to Marvel history, there's a reason why John was chosen to illustrate the legendary evergreen art instruction manual, How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way! This one features a long interview with the artist that will surely fascinate and inform. Don't miss it! ~Marty

ALTER EGO #199
Edited by Roy Thomas. P.C. Hamerlinck reveals the secret, often bitter, early-1970s war of words via correspondence between SHAZAM! artist (and Captain Marvel co-creator) C.C. Beck and DC editor Julius Schwartz! It’ll take more than one magic word to avoid a head-on collision between these two titanic talents! Plus, more FCA (Fawcett Collectors of America), Michael T. Gilbert in Mr. Monster’s Comic Crypt, and more! With an unpublished SHAZAM! cover by C.C. Beck! TwoMorrows, 2026....More.

Item Code: AE199
Magazine, 8x11, 80pg, Full Color
$10.95

Apparently Shazam! artist and co-creator C.C. Beck had a legendary beef with DC Comics editor Julie Schwartz during the '70s. This issue of Roy Thomas' Alter Ego examines the details that unfolded during the two creators' long war of words over the matter. Sounds to be quite interesting. And if my time in comics taught me anything it's that war... war never changes. ~Marty

He has selected over 500 of his favorite pieces for a big, 304-page collection (currently untitled), which they are referring to as "The Art of Gianni Pencils" and is now in development. This volume will reportedly be followed up by "The Art of Gianni Inks" and "The Art of Gianni Paintings" volumes, forming a massive three-volume set. DEADMAN Omnibus
Collects Strange Adventures #205-216, Brave and the Bold #79, 86, 104, 133, Deadman #1-4, and much more, 1967-86. Highly Recommended. Created by Arnold Drake and Carmine Infantino in 1967, it was nonetheless talented young newcomer Neal Adams that put his stamp on the character with incredible, powerful, and innovative artwork. Deadman was a circus performer known as "Boston" Brand who was murdered while on the high-wire. In the afterlife, his spirit gained the ability to possess the bodies of the living. First so he could discover the identity of his killer and bring him to justice — then, to fight crime and supernatural menaces. Also featuring spectacular art by Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez, Deadman continues as part of DC's universe, one of their most unusual heroes (hey, he's dead! Shades of The Spectre!). Travel with Alley Oop across the mysterious swamp to the mountain caves of the ancient Texas pterosaur riders, where he trains one (like his own Dinny, back in prehistoric times) to obey him! Then travel to the West Indies where Alley encounters that "big chief of ships," Christopher Columbus, in 1504. Plus adventures in the present day, too. Acoustic Learning, 2022....More.

THE SPIDER: CRIME UNLIMITED
Collects Fleetway Super Picture Library #2 & 4, 1967. By Jerry Siegel and Donne Avenell. Art by Aldo Marculeta and Giorgio Trevisan. The Spider (not to be confused with the 1930s pulp hero) was an anti-hero created in British comics but written, in part, by Superman-co-creator Jerry Siegel. He is the uncrowned king of the New York underworld, so elusive to the police that he even manages to taunt the Police Commissioner at his retirement party. But Professor Aldo Cummings, a famous but ill-tempered scientist, determined to stop the schemes of the Spider once and for all, invents a ray-machine which will eliminate the evil from a person's personality. Unfortunately, a tragic miscalculation will turn Professor Cummings into the Professor of Power, and he will seek a more direct confrontation with the Spider. Rebellion/2000 AD, 2022....More.

CAPTAIN AMERICA AND THE AMERICAN JOURNEY 1940-2022
By Richard A. Hall. Captain America made his debut in 1940, just two years behind the first comic book superheroes and five years before the United States’ emergence as the world’s primary superpower at the end of World War II. His journey has been intertwined with America’s progress throughout the decades. Known as the “Sentinel of Liberty,” he has frequently provided socio-political commentary on current events as well as inspiration and warnings concerning the future. Ten chapters begin with Cap in the 40s, move to Commie Smasher in the 40s, unrest in the 60s, and on, showing how the stories in Captain American mirror society's own changes and issues. COVER STORY The 2000 AD Design Art of Robin Smith
By Karl Stock. The early '80s saw 2000 AD hit its golden era. With Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog, Rogue Trooper, Slaine and more firing on all cylinders it became the UK's most exciting and innovative comic. Its covers played no small part in its appeal, and those covers were the brainchild of Robin Smith whose job was to lay out a cover design to pass to an artist who would transform it into the finished product. This collection of Smith's cover layouts — accompanied by each finished, full color cover — shows just how integral his ideas were to some of 2000 AD's most famous and revered covers. Cover art by Brian Bolland, Dave Gibbons, Carlos Ezquerra, Kevin O'Neill, Mick McMahon, Ian Gibson, Alan Davis, Steve Dillon, Cam Kennedy and 11 others. Rebellion/2000 AD, 2025.
