Besides work for Disney and Hanna Barbara on countless cartoons, creating the Donald Duck syndicated strip, running Disney’s Egmont division in Denmark…whew…he also produced many Disney comics, including Roger Rabbit graphic novels, The Rocketeer Movie Adaptation (by Russ Heath and Peter David), White Fang, and Dick Tracy graphic novels. When his health became a problem, he asked Anne and me to deal with his collection and preserve his personal works. This turned out to be a bigger job than we anticipated, and we’re still at it after more than a year and several trips to Silverton. Bob didn’t throw away much, fortunately. And he also loved classic newspaper strips and had one of the largest collections I’ve seen, dating back to the 1920s.

There have been some wonderful posts on our Facebook page. Gary Groth/Fantagraphics has expressed his intention to us to do at least a couple projects of Bob’s work. Gary sent me this excellent link that covers Bob’s long and varied career, so I won’t repeat it all here. Also Mark Evanier gives us more kind words about his friend.
