COLLECTED TOPPI Volume 1 Enchanted World
Highly Recommended. By Sergio Toppi. Introduction by Bill Sienkiewicz. Eleven amazing stories of fantasy, myth and legend, newly translated. This is the first of a seven-volume library of works by master illustrator Sergio Toppi. Consider this from Bill Sienkiewicz: "...his name comes up constantly in headshaking, hushed tones. His talent and oeuvre cast a long shadow, eliciting equal parts awe, reverence, and intimidation...Other artists were amazing, but to me this man's work was on an entirely different level...powerful, elegant, musical, and as abstract...as detailed...as exaggerated...as realistic..." THE MARTIAN MONSTER AND OTHER STORIES
All from Weird Science and Weird Fantasy #1-10 Highly Recommended. By Al Feldstein. Art by Jack Kamen.Jack Kamen's first 22 complete stories for Weird Science and Weird Fantasy. He and writer Al Feldstein explore the unexpected twists and turns that arise from the unintended consequences of new inventions such as matter transmitters, molecular duplicators, shrinking rays, time machines, and too-perfect robots. Usually with a pretty girl involved, whether being duplicated, shrunk or zapped through time! Published as CI #69, 1950. Cover from the 1957 edition. By Jules Verne. Art by Henry C. Kiefer.Jules Verne's tale of Phileas Fogg and his bet to travel around the world in 80 days. It's always been a favorite story of mine, one of Jules Verne's pure adventure stories rather than science fiction. Kiefer was a stalwart of the Golden Age, although his work here is adequate at best. But he worked for nearly every comics company in his day. EC veteran artist John Severin collaborates with (unknown to us) artist Stephen Addeo. Here is Cooper's very famous tale of Hawkeye and Chingachgook, which has interesting parallels and departures from the wonderful 1992 film with Daniel Day Lewis--one of my all-time favorite films. Out of Print Report

Tony DiTerlizzi's Never Abandon Imagination is down to one copy left. We still have his signed sketchbook [DITSKS. $20] and the Realms regular and deluxe editions, both on sale, are still here; one copy of the regular, two of the deluxe.

From All of Us to All of You: The Disney Christmas Card has gone OP. We have seven copies left, with a few more on the way. It's very cool, with dozens of removable cards and extras.

Pasadena and Oakland

I hope to say hello to many customers at these two shows, we had links to both a couple weeks ago. Pasadena Feb 1 and 2, and Oakland Feb 8-10. We'll have a mix of fine antiquarian books and some of the latest and best from here. Next up, in March we will exhibit at both the Sacramento Antiquarian Book Fair and Sac-Con, the comics show, in Sacramento.
