In 1948 he took over the Flash Gordon strips of one of his most envied idols, Alex Raymond. This series marks the first time that Raboy's Flash Gordon strips had ever been collected. He was heavily influenced by Alex Raymond's style, and in the Spring of 1948, he signed on with King Features to illustrate the Flash Gordon Sunday page. Green Lantern was published by National Periodical Publications from 1941 until 1949 spanning a total of 38 issues. The series featured Alan Scott, the very first Green Lantern character, created by writer/graphic artist Martin Nodell.
