Here's more Artist’s Editions, and here’s Atlas at War, Atlas Comics Library: War Comics and more comics at war collections. |
THE FANTASTIC WORLDS OF FRANK FRAZETTA 40th Anniversary Highly Recommended. Introduction by Dan Nadel. The bestselling $200 XL edition is now available in a smaller and much more affordable edition, This monograph is the most complete ever produced on the artist, done in collaboration with the Frazetta family and with top collectors. This has a LOT of material rarely or never before seen. Many nudes that Frank just did for himself are here; early work from his youth and early days in comics, Li’l Abner and Thunda pages, early comic book covers — all from his original art. There are also later advertising works never before collected, early paperback covers now shown from the paintings. Taschen, 2024....More. Item Code: FANWFRH Hard Cover, 6x9, 480pg, Partial Color $30.00 |
ALSO AVAILABLE THE FANTASTIC WORLDS OF FRANK FRAZETTA Limited First Edition, 6000 individually numbered copies. Available from us but now out of print. Our Highest Recommendation. Introduction by Dan Nadel. This monograph is the biggest and most complete ever produced on the artist, done in collaboration with the Frazetta family and with top collectors. Frank Frazetta has reigned as the undisputed lord of fantasy art for 50 years, his fame only growing in the 10 years since his death. With his paintings now breaking auction records, he's long overdue for this ultimate monograph. This has a LOT of material rarely or never before seen. Many nudes that Frank just did for himself are here; early work from his youth and early days in comics, Li'l Abner and Thunda pages, early comic book covers — all from his original art. There are also later advertising works never before collected, early paperback covers now show from the paintings. There's also a good bibliography of many of the works originally published as paperback, magazine and book covers. Taschen, 2023. Out of Print. "After over fifteen years deferral, delay and dawdling, the ink-and-paper cheerleader Chris Ware finally succumbs to imaginary public pressure by concluding his experiment in reader trust with the third and final volume of secret notebooks and sketches spanning over thirty-seven years of bus rides, airport delays and telephone hold music." HR GIGER XL Highly Recommended. The finest-ever collection of Giger art, collected in a huge Taschen XL volume. Enter a world of haunting power and the dark psychedelia of HR Giger. DONALD DUCK The Ultimate History Highly Recommended. In true Taschen fashion, the end-all book on Donald! Nothing succeeds like success, as the saying goes, but in the case of Donald Duck the opposite is true: the candor with which Donald reveals his weaknesses wins our hearts and stays with us forever. Revisit Donald’s life’s work from nine decades in one of the most expansive illustrated publications on the Disney universe. Taschen, 2024. DAREDEVIL COMICS Volume 1 Hardcover Collects Daredevil Battles Hitler #1 and Silver Streak #6-17, 1940-41. Highly Recommended. Art by Jack Cole and Don Rico. SSome of the rarest comics of the Golden Age! Here is the original 1940s Daredevil, created by Jack Binder. He was one of the few heroes to last into the 1950s, and this spawned the spin-off villain Iron Jaw, who in his day was as popular as Batman's The Joker. Publisher Lev Gleason began with the iconic Daredevil Battles Hitler #1 (July 1941), then DD appeared in Silver Streak Comics and quickly got his own title continuing with Daredevil #2, which will be collected in Volume 2. PS Artbooks, 2024. ...More. |
Item Code: DAREC01 |
Here’s more of both the original 1940s hero collected above, and Marvel’s Daredevil. |

CLASSIC ADVENTURE COMICS Volume 8 Johnny Dynamite Hardcover Collects #6-10, 1954-55. Recommended. Art by Don Heck and Pete Morisi. Johnny Dynamite was a hard-boiled private detective, known as "The Wild Man from Chicago." Good friends with the D.A. but readily accepted by the underworld, he smoked cigarettes constantly, cursed frequently and had a bad habit of getting shot and beaten by his enemies. But he always gave as good as he got; he was an experienced and persistent detective taking his cases very personally and killed many of his early foes, claiming they were reaching for a weapon. Created by artist/writer Pete Morisi, who in reality was a moonlighting police officer for much of his early career in comics. PS Artbooks, 2024....More. |
Item Code: PCAD08 |

Back up stories of Chop Chop by the talented Paul Gustavson. Artist Dick Wood is also here. PS Artbooks, 2024....More. Item Code: BLAC14 Soft Cover, 7x10, 180pg, Full Color $32.99 |

CONAN THE BARBARIAN Volume 3 The Age Unconquered Collects #9-12, 2024. Our Highest Recommendation. A splendid action-packed story written by Jim Zub that would make Robert E. Howard proud with dynamic pulp-infused artwork by Rob de la Torre, who continues to channel the best style of John Buscema — it's gorgeous work. Sent back in time to the Thurian Age, Conan battles terrifying creatures and meets Kull the Conqueror. They quickly realize they must quest together to stop the dark machinations of Thulsa Doom, an ancient necromancer who has contacted a mysterious evil beyond time and space. Titan, 2024....More. MONTE CRISTO Recommended. By Jordan Mechner, and Alexandre Dumas. Art by Mario Alberti. The classic revenge story, updated for modern times! Sam Castillo embodies the blue-collar American dream — a young, successful contractor, engaged to his sweetheart at age 24, living a happy life... until three enemies conspire to frame him as a terrorist. Sent to a black-site federal prison, Sam befriends a brilliant, multi-lingual inmate who teaches him the ways of the world... and bestows upon him the key to a secret fortune. After 15 years of imprisonment, Sam's daring escape puts him in a financial position to, at last, take revenge against those who betrayed him. Magnetic Press, 2024....More. Item Code: MONTCH Hard Cover, 9x11, 224pg, Full Color $29.99 |
COLLECTED TOPPI Volume 11 War Stories Our Highest Recommendation. Master illustrator and storyteller Sergio Toppi takes on the topic of war in this collection of short stories set in various global conflicts, from the battlefields of Prussia in 1742 to Papua Island in the 19th Century and Southeast Asia and Yugoslavia in the 20th. These classic works have never been published in English until now. As usual, brilliant pen & ink illustration that is amazing just to look at — but we quite enjoy Toppi's storytelling too. It's odd and unique. Magnetic Press, 2024....More. Item Code: COLT11H Hard Cover, 9x12, 128pg, b&w $24.99 |
Here are all of our available Toppi collections. They are all just as good as this one. I look forward to each one. |
DISNEY ATLANTIS The Lost Empire Recommended. This comic adaptation of the film features a cover and behind-the-scenes sketches by comics luminary Mike Mignola, whose artistic vision inspired the animation for the film! In the flash of a giant wave, the mighty kingdom of Atlantis disappeared into the sea. For hundreds of generations, the lost empire has remained hidden at the bottom of the ocean. Now, a young man named Milo Thatch has discovered the secret of Atlantis, and a fantastic journey is about to begin! Handsome little hardcover. Papercutz, 2024....More. Item Code: DISATLH Hard Cover, 6x9, 56pg, Full Color $12.99 |
DANTE'S INFERNO A Graphic Novel Adaptation First published in France in 2023. Highly recommended. By Dante Alighieri. Art by Paul Brizzi and Gaëtan Brizzi. Entirely drawn as a homage to Gustave Dore's well-known illustrations, we're really impressed by the artwork, as if Dore himself had drawn this! It's dark and moody and quite the amazing story — a journey into Hell itself! Guided by the poet Virgil, Dante crosses the nine circles of Hell to find his beloved, Beatrice. He confronts sinners and demons: Cleopatra, Helen of Troy, Achilles, and Paris ( whose loves were famously their downfall), the Greek Furies and Medusa — and heretics like Epicurus, writhing in a flaming tomb for eternity. Abrams, 2024....More. Item Code: DANIH Hard Cover, 8x10, 160pg, b&w $25.99 |
ALSO AVAILABLE THE FANTASTIC GUSTAVE DORE Gold-embossed cover, cloth spine. Highly Recommended. By Alix Paré and Valérie Sueur-Hermel. This glorious, authoritative, and unprecedented retrospective of Doré’s prints and paintings, drawn from an oeuvre of more than 10,000 works, comes in a spectacularly ornate package that reflects the artist’s own dramatic style. From the Bible to Shakespeare, Balzac to Milton, Cervantes to Poe, Doré’s intricate, romantic, and exuberant drawings and paintings were turned into steel and wood engravings, bringing great novels and adventures to life. Furthermore, as this magnificent book reveals, he was also a skilled sculptor, painter, and cartoonist. Spectacular production, which features quarter binding, gold foil stamping, embossing on the cover and spine, a belly band, and silkscreen printing on three edges. Includes a small section in color with later landscapes and water colors. Prestel, 2023....More. Item Code: FANGDH Hard Cover, 8x10, 480pg, Partial Color $65.00 |
Here’s more with artist Gustave Dore. |

REMEMBRANCE Selected Correspondence of Ray Bradbury Now in paperback. Highly Recommended. The iconic author of Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, and Something Wicked This Way Comes believed that a collection of his letters could someday illuminate the story of his life in new ways. Remembrance offers the first sustained look at his life in letters from his late teens to his 80s. His correspondence was far-reaching — he interacted with a rich cross-section of 20th-century cultural figures, writers, film directors, editors, and others who simply wanted insights or encouragement from a writer who had enriched their lives through his stories and novels. 16 pages of photos. Illustration Magazine All back issues are going away. Illustrated Press/Dan Zimmer tells us his back issue supply is too small to fill any more reorders for us, so what we have in stock, from this link, is all that we have and most are in very short supply. The Rare Books issues are mostly down to just one copy. His last issue was #84, when he announced he was ceasing publication. We did our best to keep all available issues in stock until now, since it's such a fine magazine. Act now for the best selection, recent issues are all still cover price. Currently still at cover price: #73, 76 (Earle Bergey), 81-84. #19 is on sale at $16; #18, 41, 43, 45, are reduced to $20 ea. See our website for many more issues from $24 and up to $50 for Volume 1 from 2001.

No More "Guest" Checkout Up until now, customers ordering online had a choice to set up an account OR order as a "guest" without an account. Some customers use both options. However, for several months now we have been being flooded every day with fake "bot" orders…which all come in using the "guest" checkout. We’ve exhausted every other security measure to stop these fake orders -- but to no avail. Every day our staff (read "mostly LaDonna") is spending far too much time to clean up this mess and often, having to credit back fake credit card charges. We use an IT provider and they have also tried everything else. The ultimate fix for this is to stop our convenient "guest" checkouts. Like many other websites already do, we need customers to actually sign up with us and create a password, a simple and quick procedure. How to do it: After entering your username and email, you’ll be sent a welcome email to set your password. After creating a password, you’ll be set up in our improved system. After logging into your account you’ll be able to view your orders, see items in your Wishlist, and manage payment details. We are delaying implementing this to give everyone time to sign up as a regular customer. If you enter your email and you get a message that an account already exists, please use the "lost your password" link to reset if you don’t know your password. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us and we can walk you through. And once again, please note: You will receive an email thanking you for creating an account with a link for you to set your new password. It is necessary for you to create a password to complete your account. Check your spam filter if you don’t see the welcome email --this can happen. Frequently our customers will sign up for our specials and weekly emails, but not follow through. To finish creating your account, you need to respond to our email verification. Thank you for your patience and understanding! ~Bud
