MOEBIUS LEZARDS REVEURS Import from France, minimal French text. Recommended. Two previously unpublished personal sketchbooks by Jean Giraud Mœbius are brought together in a single 244-page book. For Moebius, walking around with a sketchbook in his pocket at all times was a habit and working method. Created between 1996 and 1999, these collect his graphic musings. He threw in the seeds of his future albums — such as the first pages of Le Chasseur Déprime — as well as spontaneous concepts, poems, and observational drawings: family moments, friendly encounters, or specific places: Paris, Los Angeles, Boston, Mexico City, New York... Moebius Productions, 2025....More. Item Code: MOEBLRH Hard Cover, 6x8, 244pg, Partial Color $50.00 |

Frankenstein: A Film by Guillermo del Toro |
||
Our friend Ken Sanders got to see a private advance screening last week, in preparation for interviewing del Toro. That event took place Friday October 3, to raise money to restore the Pacific Palisades Library that burned in the huge fire earlier this year. It was very successful, raising $100,000, and Ken tells us the movie is wonderful…very true to the original Mary Shelly story, which he read on the plane flying out from Salt Lake City. Here are all the books we have on Frankenstein right now, including Berni Wrightson’s masterpiece—Guillermo del Toro credits Berni directly for inspiration for the film! |

I owe you reports on the Thomas Spurgeon Award I received at CXC in Columbus Ohio in September; OAFCon which was the following weekend; and LA Rare Books October 5-6. I can say now all three events were wonderful. We fell in love with the Billy Ireland Museum in Columbus and all the wonderful people who run it. I plan to make it an annual pilgrimage. OAFCon was swell as usual, with lots of vintage material and a lot of vintage buddies too. We had a very successful show and I came home with wonderful new additions to my collection. LA Rare Books was also outstanding; The LA Times did a big feature on it, Our friend Ken Sanders made that also. We had a great time even if we were getting weary from three shows in three weeks. We have a few days off this weekend then off to the Seattle Antiquarian Book Fair October 18-19. After Seattle I’ll sit down and do a full write up of the shows and add a bunch of pictures. We’ll post them all on our Events page. After that, no shows until the January Berkeley Comic Show! ~Bud |
