THE AVENGERS Omnibus Volume 6 Collects Avengers #150-188, Avengers Annual #6-9, and more — 1976-198. Highly Recommended. Aside from Lee and Kirby's original run on the series, these could be the best three years for The Avengers, featuring some of the top talents at Marvel, some of them at the peak of their game, producing one fantastic story arc after a another, illustrated by the guys who would go on to legendary works that are treasured and collected even today! It starts with Gerry Conway and George Pérez, who reinvigorate Wonder Man, even as the Avengers clash with Doctor Doom. Then Jim Shooter takes over as writer with Uncanny X-Men artist John Byrne taking turns with Pérez on art. They begin a series of classic encounters staged on a massive scale, taking on Ultron, the Lethal Legion and the epic threat of Korvac! Then, David Michelinie changes the order again with a trip to Wundagore Mountain and the origins of the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Plus: Jim Starlin’s cosmos-altering "Thanos War," a solo flight for the Falcon and the tragic tale of Arsenal! Marvel, 2026. Rush Service and International shipping could require an additional charge....More. Item Code: AVE06H Hard Cover, 8x11, 1176pg, Full Color |
| This period of Marvel's Avengers is a fan-favorite, including this fan, too! It's truly one great story arc after another, as George Pérez and John Byrne (still riding high on his successful run on Uncanny X-Men) share art duties, and take Earth's Mightiest Heroes to new heights. But what makes this omnibus click for me is the inclusion of Jim Starlin's "Magus Saga" chapters in Avengers Annual #7 and Marvel Two-in-One Annual #2. Just fantastic stuff. |

MAD: The Complete Harvey Kurtzman Years Collects MAD #1-23 and the first five magazine issues (#24-28)! Highly Recommended. This is the EC collection fans have been waiting for: it's the entire original run of MAD comics and early issues of the magazine, from creator, editor, writer and cover artist Harvey Kurtzman, all packed into a lavish five-volume collector’s box set, presenting each issue in oversized facsimile, with extensive notes and historical essays. Following MAD's creation by Kurtzman, the core artists — Will Elder, Wally Wood, Jack Davis and at first John Severin — all found themselves inspired by the opportunity to turn from horror or adventure comics to humor, turning out some of the best work of their comics careers — and going on to mainstream success from the name recognition that MAD gave them. Fantagraphics Books, 2026. Due: Oct. Rush Service and International shipping could require an additional charge....More. Item Code: MADCHKH Hard Cover, 9x12, 1300pg, Full Color |
| My earliest introduction to MAD was finding a massive pile of stripped cover paperback returns at the local landfill while there with my dad to drop off yard waste. Absconding with an armful of books, I discovered a MAD paperback among the Family Circus and Peanuts collections, and in it was Will Elder's "Chinese Restaurant!" I must have read that story five or six times that day, soaking in every sight gag and throwaway line. Needless to say, I was hooked! Yes, the early MAD comics have been collected before, but not like this. This is the end-all collector's edition for the first 28 issues of the venerable humor title. And the presentation is first class. This is one every MAD fan will want to add to their collections. |

ATLAS CREATOR COLLECTION No. 3 Bill Everett Introduction by Dr. Michael J. Vassallo! Art by Bill Everett. The latest volume in Fantagraphics' Atlas Creator Collection focuses on the feverishly imaginative Bill Everett's brilliant masterpieces of skeletal horror and oozing, creeping dread. Already a Marvel/Timely legend for his creation of the Sub-Mariner in 1939, Bill Everett returned to Marvel during the 1950s to become Atlas' most versatile and effective practitioner of horror-fantasy. Everett's art was a combination of Graham Ingels, Harry Anderson, and Bernie Wrightson, with the slick ink line of Jack Davis, all melded within his own uniquely captivating imagery and in-your-face ghastliness. Hal Foster's Tarzan |
The Complete Sunday Comics 1931-1937 We've uploaded some additional images for this massive collection, including the exclusive watercolor print. In 1928 commercial artist Hal Foster took a job to turn Edgar Rice Burroughs’ novel Tarzan of the Apes into a 60-installment black-and-white newspaper comic. Initially, no American papers wanted it, so it premiered in England, to great acclaim. When U.S. papers picked it up and wanted more, Foster wasn’t interested. It was only in 1931, with the Great Depression threatening his family with starvation, that he consented to take it on as a full color, full page Sunday comic, still calling the low-paid job “a bit of pottage.” That bit of “pottage” fed him for the next seven years, as Tarzan became the first adventure comic, and one of the most beloved Sunday strips in America. Though newspapers complained about the violence (Burroughs countered that Tarzan’s success was the result of a “human weakness for gory and gruesome situations”) and the incessant nudity (the writer’s script notes asked for “a great deal of female nakedness”) readers found Tarzan’s adventures with ancient Egyptians, modern criminals, Vikings, dinosaurs, killer apes, and a slew of provocative queens and princesses mesmerizing, right up until Foster handed off the strip to Burne Hogarth in mid-1937. |
| “Amongst knowledgeable collectors, Hal Foster’s run on Tarzan, which preceded Prince Valiant (cir.1933-37), is the high point of all Tarzan Sunday pages, even more popular than the Hogarth pages that followed them. They have never been collected in a good version. NBM did the series (followed by the Hogarth run) in 18 volumes that were about the size of the present Prince Valiant collections. But the reproduction quality was not great, no color correction, off-register pages were not fixed… this was all decades ago with limited technology. From my perspective, the material was not given the proper care and presentation it so richly deserved.” | ![]() |
"In the case of Taschen’s new collected edition, they are clearly treating the material with the respect it deserves: an oversized format, superior image quality, and their trademark design and binding. $200 isn’t cheap, but it’s all of them in one volume. Like Taschen’s The Complete Little Nemo, this will be the best-ever and most inclusive ever collection of Foster’s classic work." -Bud All copies of this book will include a Bud’s Art Books exclusive art print, featuring an original illustration by Hal Foster. This one-of-a-kind Tarzan watercolor from 1933 was made for Eric Bergman Jr., the son of Foster’s best friend Eric Bergman Sr., and was provided to us by Norma Bergman, Karen Bergman Paul, and The Harold R. Foster Estate Archives. The final dimensions of the art print are yet to be determined. This oversized Taschen edition is expected in June, but you can pre-order your copy now! |

We've updated our description and given it our Highest Recommendation after Bud got a chance to see the book in person. Bud here – Marty’s doing the descriptions these days, but I had to weigh in on this edition with additional information. Beehive is doing wonderful new illustrated editions, each one matching this with the fancy die-cut slipcase and color illustrations. But… wow… this one is so over the top I had to add my two cents’ worth, and more, to tell you how very impressed I am with it. I’ve given it My Highest Recommendation! |
