When I was working the counter at Bud's Comics & Comix shop in Citrus Heights back in the early '80s, our crew had its favorites and we always recommended them to our customers. While we were often split in our appreciation of Marvel and DC, we had some titles, and especially creators, we all loved to recommend. And one of our favorites was Jim Starlin. Here’s much more from Roy Thomas, to celebrate the release of the first volume in his biography, Roy Thomas: A Life in Four Colors 1940-1966 (ROYLH) just released last week. I’m very impressed with its incredibly detailed account of the life of a comic book fan and professional, beginning in the 1940s through his fanzine years and first pro work. Part Two will take off at this point, detailing his first years working with Stan Lee at Marvel Comics. ~Bud
