With Supergirl coming to movie theaters this month, it's a great time to relive the character's origins. And there's no better place to start then at the beginning! These are the first and earliest adventures of Kara Zor-El from the 1960s, which introduced readers to Kal-El's cousin and her life on Earth. While the movie may base its Supergirl on more recent takes on the heroine, we will always have a soft spot in our hearts for her original incarnation, Linda Lee Danvers! ~Marty

When I was working the counter at Bud's Comics & Comix shop in Citrus Heights back in the early '80s, our crew had its favorites and we always recommended them to our customers. While we were often split in our appreciation of Marvel and DC, we had some titles, and especially creators, we all loved to recommend. And one of our favorites was Jim Starlin. This volume is a super bargain, and includes Mar-Vell's first appearance and cosmic awakening under Starlin's guidance... and the first appearance of Thanos. Highly Recommended by me... and the classic C&C crew! ~Marty
