BATMAN/ TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES The Deluxe Edition Collects Batman/TMNT #1-6. Recommended. By James Tynion IV & Freddie Williams II. The separate worlds of Batman’s Gotham and the gritty New York setting of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collide when the Turtles’ enemy, The Shredder and his Foot Clan ninja suddenly appear in Gotham City. And when the displaced villains team up with the worst of the worst of Batman’s rogues’ gallery, it will take the combined forces of the Dark Knight and Leonardo, Donatello, Michaelangelo, and Raphael (and their teacher Master Splinter) to stop them from taking over Gotham in their bid to return to their own dimension! DC Comics, 2026. Item Code: BATTMNH Hard Cover, 7x11, 256pg, Full Color |
When this crossover came around the first time (there have been FOUR such crossover series!), I was dubious as to its overall quality. I mean, its the goofy Ninja Turtles... mixing it up with the deadly serious Dark Knight of Gotham. But you know what? It worked. The gritty urban settings of both seemed to merge and meld into a cohesive environment that made for a great action/adventure. Basically, they all played well together to get stuff done. And I liked it. You will too! ~Marty |

SKU: CRY10, $10.95 We're on kind of a horror kick this week, but that's a good thing, if you ask me! Especially when a new issue of Cryptology arrives! Easily my favorite horror mag of the present (Famous Monsters will always be the king of my fanboy past), this new issue is packed with another great selection of articles and interviews, with a look at the DC horror comics of the late great Neal Adams. Every issue in the run is a delight for this monster kid, and if you're one of us, you shouldn't miss this latest issue! ~Marty |

EC CRUEL UNIVERSE Volume 2 Comics in the EC manner! By Various. At the star-lined edges of infinity, EC Comics’ Eisner Award–nominated science-fiction smash returns to draw more worlds into the maw of its gravitational vortex! Whether future or past, Earth or a distant world, no man can outrun the infinite singularity within us all: FEAR! Join the next doomed expedition into the cold, unforgiving galaxies beyond our own with a host of today’s top writers and artists. Collects Cruel Universe Vol. 2 #1-4. Oni Press, 2026. Item Code: ECCU02 Soft Cover, 7x10, 136pg, Full Color $19.99 |
I've really enjoyed ONI Press' new series of EC-inspired anthologies from the past few years. They've done their best to bring back the "feels" of the classic EC titles like Tales from the Crypt and Incredible Science Fiction with their own ongoing series, and Cruel Universe does for Sci-Fi what EC's classic title Weird Science did for the genre over 75 years ago. The stories are, for the most part, excellent, and created by a talented pool of established creators and rising talent. I started collecting Marvel horror anthology titles in the early '70s, so the short story format will always have a place in my heart when it comes to comics. The stories and art in Cruel Universe do my heart good, in the Cruelest way! ~Marty |

PLANETARY COMPENDIUM Collecting the entire series! Highly Recommended. By Warren Ellis, John Cassaday, & Phil Jimenez. The Planetary Compendium collects all 27 issues of the groundbreaking series by Warren Ellis, with art by John Cassaday and Philip Jimenez. Hailed as a genre-defying masterpiece, Planetary follows a trio of “mystery archaeologists” tasked with uncovering the secret history of the world. Led by the enigmatic Elijah Snow, the team investigates paranormal phenomena, alternate realities, and buried conspiracies — from WWII supercomputers to ghostly spirits of vengeance and lost islands of kaiju. With stunning visuals and razor-sharp writing, this softcover omnibus is a must-have for fans of intelligent, boundary-pushing comics. DC Comics, 2026. Item Code: PLANCO Soft Cover, 7x10, 824pg, Full Color |
Warren Ellis’ Planetary was a must-read series for me (and a huge chunk of fandom) when it was originally published from 1999 to 2009. Ellis, along with artists John Cassaday and Phil Jimenez, turned various genres on their ears, creating X-Files-style takes on Pulp characters like Doc Savage, The Shadow, and Fu Manchu, Godzilla, Tarzan, Hong Kong action movies, DC heroes, a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and a twisted version of the Fantastic Four. And they were able to tie it all up with a bow and conclude the series satisfactorily! I highly recommend this series! ~Marty |
