After a seaquake, a huge lizard-like creature walked out of the ocean; things became more complicated when it was discovered the monster, dubbed Gorgo, was really just a youngster and its 200 foot tall mother was coming for him. After a pitched battle with the British army, Gorgo's mother, Ogra, was able to free her child and they both went lumbering back to the sea. That, however, was not the last the world heard of Gorgo. STRANGE Volume 1 Collects #1-5, 1957-58. By Alex A. Blum and Iger Shop. From tiny company Ajax, here's an early post-code mystery and supernatural title. They offer very good covers and the artwork and stories are very much in the pre-code style. The Iger shop used the same artists that were doing Fiction House titles like Ghost, Jumbo, Wings and Sheena. There are even creepy and horror elements to the story, but without the overt blood and guts prevalent before the comics code.
