THE BIG TEASE A Naughty and Nice Collection
Highly Recommended. By Bruce Timm. Bruce Timm has been creating elegant drawings of women for over 30 years, and nearly all of these charming nudes were drawn purely for fun after-hours. This book collects all three Teaser collections from 2011 to 2013, long sold out. Plus Surrender, My Sweet from 2015. In addition, Timm has created new material especially for this collection and delved into his personal archives to share pieces not shown before, culminating in more than 75 additional pages of material. Abundant nudity. Oversized. Flesk, 2020. Mature Readers...More.

ILLUSTRATION MAGAZINE #68
Our Highest Recommendation. Special Austin Briggs issue. This issue is entirely devoted to the work of Austin Briggs. Briggs began his career providing illustrations for the pulp magazine Blue Book. In 1935 he began assisting Alex Raymond on Flash Gordon (several originals are here) and took over the dailies, and later the Sunday page. He also succeeded Raymond on Secret Agent Corrigan, even while he was doing magazine illustration beginning in 1941. He later moved on to creating illustrations for books and top-tier magazines such as The Saturday Evening Post. He was one of the founding faculty for the Famous Artists School. In 1969 he was elected to the Society of Illustrators' Hall of Fame. Illustrated Press, 2020...More.

AUSTIN BRIGGS The Consummate Illustrator
Limited, 1000. Highly Recommended. By David Apatoff. Foreword by Austin Briggs, Jr. From Auad Publishing in their Famous American Magazine Illustrators series: 160 pages of some of Austin Briggs' best black and white art and a great selection of color illustrations, most taken from originals. David Apatoff's comprehensive in-depth biography of Briggs was aided by an extensive interview with his son, Austin Briggs, Jr. Watch the Briggs style develop, from a pulp artist and Flash Gordon newspaper strip illustrator in fine line, inspired by Joseph Clement Coll, to a sophisticated artist doing story illustrations and automobile ads, reminding us of Ernie Fuchs and Alex Toth. AMAZING FANTASY OMNIBUS
Collects Amazing Adventures #1-6; Amazing Adult Fantasy #7-14; Amazing Fantasy #15, 1961-62. Highly Recommended. By Stan Lee, Steve Ditko, Jack Kirby et al. At the dawn of the Silver Age, Stan and the gang were offering readers a cadre of ten-ton terrors, from Torr to Manoo to Monsteroso -- along with weird tales of witchcraft, Martians and Dr. Druid. And Lee and Ditko started their all-new more mature storytelling, featuring aliens, time travel, ghosts and atomic nightmares! Ditko's lushly illustrated stories set a new standard for comic art, and Lee raised the bar with his powerful, thoughtful scripts. And, oh, in the last issue of AF they created Spider-Man. In this amazing Omnibus is the complete original Morbius saga, from his first appearance through both his first color comic and black-and-white series, and into the rare stories that concluded his tragic tale. SUPERBOY A Celebration of 75 Years
Recommended. By Bill Finger, Gerry Conway et al. Art by Curt Swan, Al Plastino et a. Superboy had many adventures growing up in Smallville, Kansas, and he also became a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes, but eventually the Boy of Steel had to grow up into the Man of Steel. However, that wasn't the end. Through the decades, talents such as Jim Shooter, Gerry Conway, Geoff Johns, and Brian Michael Bendis have picked up the torch from original writers, Jerry Siegel and Bill Finger. VIENNA 1900 WIEN
Recommended. By Janina Nentwig. Vienna 1900—a fascinating period in which the metropolis on the Danube became an important center of art nouveau and arts and crafts style. Artists such as Gustav Klimt, Koloman Moser, Olbrich, Loeffler, Max Klinger and Josef Hoffmann were united in their dream of creating beauty in all forms: painting, book design, buildings, furniture, jewelry, lamps--even common household objects became works of art when these creators went to work. A multiple-award winning graphic novel from Belgium. Highly Recommended. By Romain Renard. A beautifully painted, ethereal story with a head-spinning twist. Samuel Beauclair's life has hit the skids. He's got writer's block with his second novel, he's going through a rough patch with his pregnant wife, and his apartment is in foreclosure. Sam takes his wife and flees to Melvile, an idyllic small town in the middle of nowhere where he once spent family vacations. Drinking, smoking, and staring at a blank page, Sam finally takes a job as a handyman for a man and his young sister. Can this normalcy help him recover? Minor nudity. Pegasus, 2020. THE GREAT GATSBY
Recommended. By F. Scott Fitzgerald. Art by Aya Morton. Introduction by Blake Hazard. First published in 1925, The Great Gatsby has been acclaimed by generations of readers and is now reimagined as a unique graphic novel. Jay Gatsby, Nick Carraway, Daisy Buchanan, and the rest of the cast are captured in vivid and evocative illustrations by artist Aya Morton, who works in soft pastels and water-color. The story of the mysteriously wealthy Gatsby and his tragic love for the beautiful Daisy is exquisitely captured--the iconic text has been artfully distilled by Fred Fordham, who keeps much of the original dialogue--so much, it took me three sittings to read this. It's dense! Scribner, 2020...More.
