MARVEL UNIVERSE By Arthur Adams Omnibus Hurt Longshot, X-Men, Fantastic Four 1980s-90 and much more. Highly Recommended. By Chris Claremont et al. Like all great comic book artists, Arthur Adams earned his way in through long, hard work, by hitting the pavement with his portfolio in hand. But it didn’t seem that way. Arthur Adams seemed to burst out of the clear blue sky with an avalanche of unbelievable artwork. Energetic, richly detailed, full of character and just plain fun, his art merged East and West, bringing manga influences to American readers and influencing a generation of future artists. This Omnibus collects his complete Marvel work from the 1980s through the early 1990s in one volume. SECESSIONS KLIMT, STUCK, LIEBERMANN Hurt Highly Recommended. A rich overview of innovative Austrian and German artists. At the end of the nineteenth century, the Secession art movement shed conservative and commercial art traditions to usher in the beginnings of modernism in Austria and Germany. Taking an international yet individualistic approach to art, the rebellious Secessionists eschewed existing exhibitions and government support to embrace artistic freedom. They staged their own shows throughout Europe's German-speaking regions, which introduced the public to novel art movements like impressionism and symbolism and launched the careers of Franz von Stuck, Gustav Klimt, and Max Liebermann. Hirmer Publishers, 2023. Condition: Bumped corners....More. Item Code: SECESHR Hard Cover, 10x12, 336pg, Full Color |
We just have a few of each: seven Eternal Warrior, four Secessions, a dozen Neal Adams, four Cimmerians, and two Marvel Universe. Click here for more "hurt" volumes. These are always at least 40% off (for heavier volumes that cost us extra to ship), but most are at Half Price, 50% off. Quantities are always very limited. When we sell these at a local show, customers are always very pleased with the condition — a minor corner bump is usually the issue. We are very fussy about sending out only the best, as-new copies, so we cull out even the most minor imperfections to go on sale. We also have unhurt copies of all these, and individual Cimmerian volumes. |
Vintage 60s and 70s Fanzines |
||
We are currently cataloging some great early fanzines, circa 1960-75. Bill Spicer’s Fantasy Illustrated and Graphic Story Magazine, Gary Groth’s Fantastic Fanzine, and the Wally Wood Sketchbook as well as Wood’s Witzend. Also Comic Art (Don & Maggie Thompson), Bob Jenning’s wonderful Comic World, This is Legend, Infinity, and Jim Vadeboncoeur’s and my very own Promethean. And of course, the EC master zines Squa Tront—every issue is available as I write this. And more to come! Also The World of Comic Art (a set will come up soon), CAPS’ Russ Heath Special, etc. In the early days, many professionals, such as Steranko, Buscema, Alex Toth, Jack Kirby, Howard Chaykin, Frankj Brunner, Berni Wrightson, even Steve Ditko, would contribute original drawings and even covers to these. And of course they also often featured in-depth looks at comics history and particular artists, for the first time ever. Richard Kyle’s prestigious Graphic Story Magazine was first to chronicle the work of Basil Wolverton, Vaughn Bode, Gahan Wilson and others. And the letter writers are often a who’s who of big name pros and fans alike. We’re also listing early Price Guides, which also sport original covers by Joe Kubert and others. Do a search on any title to see all of our listings. Click here to see the new batch of rare books for this week. |
