WALT DISNEY DONALD AND MICKEY IN METROPOLIS AND FAUST
Recommended. Commentary by David Gerstein. First, it's Goethe— Duckburg style! Long ago in medieval Europe, alchemist "Dr. Donaldus Faustus" (Donald Duck) can't stand the feud between his uncle, Duke Scrooge MacDuich, and the brawling Beagle Barons. Donald turns to wacky Witch Hazel and demons of the underworld! Next, in a retelling of Fritz Lang's classic film, the future city of "Mousetropolis" is powered by the world's highest-tech factory. But that factory runs on the low-tech muscle of poverty-stricken peasants— and "undercover boss" Mictor (Mickey Mouse) discovers a plot to replace them with robots if they object! The Phantom Blot is in charge — and Minnie's next in line to go metal! Fantagraphics, 2024....More.

THE FAREWELL SONG OF MARCEL LAMBRUME
Highly Recommended. Fantagraphics' first entry in its planned Micheluzzi library, which will reprint all of his most significant works. Micheluzzi is one of the most iconic graphic stylists of the European comics scene, known for his elegant line and stunning draftsmanship. He drew many graphic novels between 1974 and 1990, mostly of adventurous stories grounded in historical reality with a patina of romanticism, in the tradition of Milton Caniff, Sergio Toppi and Hugo Pratt. Minor nudity. Fantagraphics, 2024....More.

Item Code: FARESH
Hard Cover, 8x11, 144pg, Full Color
$24.99 $22.99
I wish I were more familiar with this artist, he’s very impressive. Fantagraphics plans a series of books of his work. Reminds me of Toppi, and the story looks like fun.

JIMI HENDRIX PURPLE HAZE
By Mellow Brown and DJ Ben Ha Meen. Art by Tom Mandrake. This 23rd Century psychedelic space odyssey sees Jimi Hendrix wrap up a tour of seven star systems...and embark on a quest to the center of the universe, looking for a talisman to unlock the energy of his music and stop an intersellar war. Artist Tom Mandrake (The Spectre, Batman, Superman) does a fine job of creating an interstellar world while staying true to a powerful portrayal of Hendrix and his fellow traveller/musicians. Bonus: 18 pages of character designs, space ships and vehicles, creature design, early cover version, pencils, and script to art pages. Handsome, impressive hardcover.. Titan, 2024....More.

FOUL PLAY AND OTHER STORIES
Highly Recommended. By Al Feldstein and Ray Bradbury. When Jack Davis took up his pen for EC Comics, what made his innocent victims more eye-poppingly terrified, his ax-murderers more gleefully gruesome, and his revenge-seeking corpses more morbidly motivated was the playful sense of (gallows) humor that he brought to them all. From the pages of Vault of Horror, Haunt of Fear, Crime SuspenStories, and Shock SuspenStories: "Hyde and Go Shriek!", "Tombs-Day!", "Witch Witch's Witch!", "Head-Room!", "Chop Talk!", "Coffin Spell!"...and the infamous "Foul Play." STAN LEE STORY
Stan "the Man" Lee stands the test of time as the most legendary name in comic book history. Stanley Lieber began working at Timely Comics in 1940 at the age of 17 and found himself at the helm of the bullpen as its top editor just two years later. But it wasn't until 1961 that he ignited a revolution known as the "Marvel Age of Comics." With a legendary stable of art partners including Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, John Romita, and Jim Steranko, Lee unleashed a dizzying cascade of seminal comic book creations — the Fantastic Four, Hulk, Spider-Man, Thor, Iron Man, the X-Men, and the Avengers to name a few. After moving to Hollywood in 1980, he did it again, developing TV and film projects that laid the groundwork for the "Marvel movie." Taschen, 2024. Due: Dec....More.

Berni Wrightson Tribute

We ordered 125 copies and we’re ending up with 20--out of the 500-copy run, after allocations. We’ve stopped taking orders for this. It is not yet out. I did mention I thought it would sell out. I wish/hope they’ll go back for another printing. Obviously many people want it. Meanwhile, here’s more Wrightson.

V.T. Hamlin’s Alley Oop

The publisher has just informed us that he’s getting low on several, and he does not intend to reprint them. This entire series, both the Hamlins and the Graue collections, have been very solid sellers for us. As a fan of Oop myself, it’s very cool to see how well these have done. But be aware: these are the titles he informed us about; we’ll bring in some extra but we’ll run out eventually.

Alley Oop Complete Sundays 3

V.T. Hamlin Dailies: 1954 (very low), 1955, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962 (very low), 1963

Dave Graue Dailies: Thorn King 1975, Planet Deflon 1978, In Wonderland 1979, and Monarchs of Gorp/1990.
