MICHAEL MOORCOCK'S ELRIC THE NECROMANCER
Highly Recommended. By Julien Blondel. Art by Valentin Sécher. A superbly drawn, stand-alone story first published in France. Two years after the tragic climax of the previous volume, readers are exposed to their favorite protagonist in a new light. Elric is now leading the life of a mercenary, following the death of his beloved Cymoril. Answering Queen Yishana’s urgent call for help, Elric will now face his strongest and most cunning opposition yet — all while having to confront entities from the past that he vowed never to serve again. Titan, 2024....More.

Here are 14 more Elric volumes, including the original prose novel at half price.

VIDEOTAPES FROM HELL
Edited by Stephen Jones. Foreword by Joe Dante. A jubilant celebration of the greatest VHS cover art in all its gory glory, which inspired, scared, and delighted viewers. For anyone who frequented a video store in the '80s or '90s, the styles are instantly recognizable: surprisingly beautiful paintings of fanged and winged monsters; ridiculously lurid depictions of young men and women in peril; outsider art; absurdly overstuffed photo montages. Embodying the anything-goes ethos of an era when obscure, cheaply produced movies — usually with supernatural story lines and bottom-drawer special effects — could be distributed throughout the world and watched from the comfort of one’s living room. Applause, 2024....More.

Item Code: VIDHEH

KING ARTHUR & The Ladies of the Lake
Recommended. By Vincent Pompetti. Through stunning watercolor illustrations, the story unfolds in the 5th century, a time of myth and magic. A riveting and unusual graphic novel, with ethereal artwork that reminds us of Alan Lee. Panoramic scenes, witches and strange creatures abound.... Arthur, guided by Merlin, embarks on a quest for peace and justice, clashing with ancient pagan rites and the encroaching tide of Christianity. Amidst epic battles and dark sorcery, a new perspective emerges, centering the pivotal yet overlooked roles of the mystical Ladies of the Lake. "This tale intertwines historical depth with fantasy, inviting readers to explore the rich tapestry of Arthur's world like never before." Black Panel Press, 2024....More.

Item Code: KINAH
Hard Cover, 9x11, 112pg, Full Color

SEVEN TALES FROM KING ARTHUR'S COURT: Paintings by Edmund Dulac
Highly Recommended. It commissioned Dulac, as well as Flagg, Finlay, Vargas and others to create eye-catching covers and wonderfully illustrated stories. Here are some of the best, never before collected. A 24-page introduction looks at all the wonderfully illustrated King Arthur collections, with illustrations, from Howard Pyle and Beardsley, to N.C. Wyeth and H.J. Ford.Markosia, 2023....More.

News & Notes

Happy New Year!

I’m writing this New Year’s Eve, but you won’t see it until January 2 -- 2025! Thanks as always for your orders and your support. It’s been a busy December for us, helping to make up from some lean months earlier in the year. A lot of exciting new books came in just before Christmas. If you don’t have the latest catalog yet (Dan DeCarlo cover), ask for one with your order or just call and we’ll send one along. They only are mailed out to customers who have ordered in the last 12-18 months. And remember, if you miss any emails, just go to NEW ITEMS BLOG on our home page which has each week’s email back to, my gosh, 2016!

We still are producing bi-weekly Newsletters, which collect two emails at a time. These are for customers who are not on the internet and/or don’t have email addresses. Let us know if you want to get on that mailing list. But be aware that due to the extra expense of printing and mailing these, we ask that you place an order every four months or so.

We didn’t send out a printed Christmas Card this year. Time got away from us, so we settled for our email card, which is also still up on the home page of the website. Thanks to you who sent us cards, we love 'em!

I just had an informative conversation with the venerable Arnie Fenner. (Underwood Books). His fourth issue of Spectrum Quarterly is awaiting contributions…we jokingly refer to it more like Spectrum Every-So-Often, but each issue is always a treat.

Meanwhile he’s working on a new Frazetta book, he’s done some YouTube work for the Frazetta Girls, wrote an introduction for an upcoming book on George Barr, and told me Taschen is working on a big book on Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell! The Frazetta Girls will have a new book of just Frazetta’s earliest comics work, with new material, out soon in 2025. Watch here!

Very best New Year’s Wishes to you!

~Bud
