New and Back in Stock from Leslie Cabarga |

WILD GIRL: WILHEMINA OF THE RIVER BOTTOM Signed Signed! 1st orders will include a full color oversized bookmark! Recommended. Leslie Cabarga resurrects this legend from obscurity in eight hand drawn and photo-fummetti stories, spanning the years 1897-2027. Wilhemina the wild waif, abandoned in various far-away forests by random negligent moms, and one totally screwy mad scientist, grows to adulthood never having seen another human being — or clothing! That is, until her bucolic, idyllic, idiosyncratic, existence hurls this savage daughter into the modern world. Cabarga has drawn four comics stories spoofing such classics as The Yellow Kid, Betty Boop, Anime, and 60s psychedelic European comics, with four "fumetti" or photo-comics. They include a spurious 1924 German silent film, an improbable 1960s TV sitcom, an alleged documentary, and a sci-fi fantasy about a Wild Female Cyborg called Wilderella who conquers the world in her "birthday suit!" Iconoclassics, 2025. Mature Readers....More. Item Code: WILGHS Hard Cover, 10x11, 176pg, Partial Color $27.95 |

EC COMICS LIBRARY WEIRD SCIENCE Volume 1 XXL Signed Collects Weird Science #1-11, 1950-52. Oversized 11x16. Our Highest Recommendation. By Grant Geissman. Art by Wood, Feldstein, Kamen, Orlando, Kurtzman et al. Reproducing the initial eleven issues of the world’s first true science-fiction comic, this seminal collection exemplifies the genre’s Golden Age. Full of vivid artistry and narrative twists, the trailblazing series features wildly imaginative tales of nuclear apocalypse, interstellar adventures, and glittering utopias. Rather than recolor the artwork, this edition works with super-high-resolution photographs of each page as it was printed more than half a century ago, using modern retouching techniques to correct problems with the era’s inexpensive, imperfect printing. The result is a pristine product, keeping the character and feel of the classic issues, but freshly printed by a world-class press oversized, nearly twice the original size. Taschen, 2025. EVERETT RAYMOND KINSTLER Closeout Price! The Artist's Journey through Popular Culture 1942-62. Our Highest Recommendation. By Jim Vadeboncoeur, Jr. and Everett Raymond Kinstler. Kinstler's work hangs in museums, boardrooms, banks, private collections, The White House, and in the homes of his clients and friends. Before portraiture became his life's work, he spent the 1940s and 1950s honing his craft in comic books: Hawkman for DC's The Flash, Black Hood and Black Terror for Standard. And dozens upon dozens of covers, inside cover contents pages, and stories for those delightfully lurid Avon titles like Eerie, Cowpuncher, Dalton Brothers, Jesse James, Strange Worlds, etc. And illustrating for pulp magazines like The Shadow, Doc Savage and Detective Tales! Jules Feiffer 1929-2025 Sadly, we have to report that cartoonist Jules Feiffer passed away this week at the age of 94. Besides being famous as a cartoonist. Feiffer worked with Will Eisner on many of the best-ever Spirit sections in the late 1940s, and he wrote the iconic Comic Book Heroes, which was the introduction for many, myself included, to the Golden Age of Comics…still a brilliant book that was even abridged into a Playboy Magazine article in 1964-65.

Diamond Bankruptcy Update Diamond continues to ship product. They may be losing some exclusive distribution deals, but so far publishers are willing to still work with them along with other distribution channels. I’ve spoken with Steve Geppi. We’ve been friends since we both got into new comics distribution at the same time, in 1982. I wished him well and he was optimistic that Diamond can weather this and emerge as a healthy company without negatively affecting any publishers or retailers. We all want to see that.

Shadow Scrapbook We’re down to four copies of this vintage book—we were lucky enough to get a nice batch of them a few months ago.
|
We are assured our reorder on these is still due to ship soon; they are taking quite some time to ship out their Zoop orders first. So we are still taking backorders for the Barry Windsor-Smith cover, John Buscema cover, and Jim Lee cover.

Edgar Rice Burroughs Tarzan We’ve found that nearly everyone likes to buy these in the discounted sets of four volumes. We are selling almost no copies of the individual volumes, so we’re dropping them. We do still have a handful of copies left of most volumes 1-20, so act now if you want any particular titles. We’ll keep Tarzan of the Apes available. Next up is the Barsoom series; so far we are accepting advance orders for both individual volumes ($36.95 each) and also the discounted set [BARS01P. Pirates of Venus is taking a bit more time, we now anticipate copies in March [PIRVH. $375]. Since we discounted the 3-volume set of The Moon Maid, sales jumped. When we have just a few copies left, the price will go back to full retail. Save $50 for now [MOONMH.

Upcoming Events We hadn’t planned to exhibit at the Pasadena Internationall Antiquarian Book Fair this year, opting instead to just do the San Francisco Rare Books, taking place a week earlier Feb 1-2. Sadly, the Pasadena show has now been cancelled; FEMA took over the convention center to deal with the fire situation in Los Angeles. There will be a virtual show sponsored by the ABAA over the same time, Feb 6-8 and we will have 70+ of our best books listed. Information here at the ABAA or from Anne@budplantandhutchisonbooks.com. See our events page for more. The N. California Mangani ERB show has just been announced for May in Roseville. ~Bud
