ROBERT FAWCETT THE ILLUSTRATOR'S ILLUSTRATOR
Publisher File Copy. Highly Recommended. By David Apatoff. Introduction by Walt Reed. If Alex Toth was a magazine illustrator, his name would be Robert Fawcett. Known by his peers as "The illustrator's illustrator," here are more than a hundred color illustrations and numerous black and white drawings. These are images which have long been out of circulation and are largely unavailable today. Many of the images from the book were made from the originals, which have been hidden away for decades by private collectors. Twelve Fawcett Sherlock Holmes illustrations are together in one book for the first time, some taken from the original paintings. Auad, 2010. Out of Print....More.

Each daily and Sunday has been beautifully restored by Manuel Caldas. Also included in this volume: an in-depth analysis of Tufts' work on Lance by Zoran Djukanovic, biographical information, and more! KULL II Portfolio

Contains seven black and white original prints done specifically for this, the first signed & numbered. All of the prints are in an illustrated folder inside an illustrated envelope. Includes certificate of authenticity, numbered and dated. This publisher kicked off the portfolio "boom" in the late 1970s, and this is one of their best efforts, done while John and Marie were doing the Marvel Comics Kull series. Beautiful work. Envelope has the number in pencil, and its corners are lightly bumped, with slight discoloration on the very edges. The portfolio itself is as new. Middle Earth, 1977...More.

Voltar was first published in the United States in 1977 in Magic Carpet #1 [[published by my retail stores, Comics & Comix]. Alcala was probably best known for his work on Marvel Comics' black & white magazine Savage Sword of Conan. This was done during the explosion of signed/limited portfolios during this time, and is quite nice, with six plates loose in a handsome slipcover, the first plate signed. Schanes & Schanes, 1979...More.

THE LAST BATTLE Signed
Signed! Artist's File Copy, from 2011. Recommended. By Tito Faraci. Art by Dan Brereton. News and Notes

San Diego Comic-Con Cancelled

That's the big news this week...after 50 consecutive years, the coronavirus has shut down the milestone of comic shows. Our little Rose City Book Fair in June is also cancelled, so we have no scheduled shows until September and October—and we're hoping those survive. We'll keep you posted.

Free Comic Book Day

This has been postponed and our batch of new comics is being held up. So we're going to put on our own, using some interesting vintage titles we've turned up for you. Watch for a special email on May 4th.

Rare Books Email

We're also sending out a special with new Rare Books next week, on the 28th. If you are not signed up for these—they are opt-in, so they only go to you if you've signed up — you can do it here, or call and we'll help. We always do a print version of these too, but we wait for 2-3 weeks and delete any sold out items from the printed version. So you internet folks get the first look. You can sign up for our Adult Email too, it's also opt-in.

Calendar Sale

2020 calendars are now as low as $3.99—most of them—and older titles are as low as $2.99. Act now, we have very limited numbers left. And you can still check out our recent Spring Closeouts sale, here.

Publisher/Distributor/Coronaviris News

Diamond Comics is still not shipping new product as I write this. This is only affecting a handful of titles for us, for instance those from Dynamite and Image. And it only affects new items, we just got a large batch of reordered items from them. Our Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, IDW and other products come from book distributors or direct from the publisher.

ERB Inc was closed but just got a shipment out, so we have the new ERB books back in stock. Flesk Publishing is also going to get a shipment out to us, including a couple of exclusive new items, as yet not announced. We also may have a reorder coming from Adult Video producer CAV.

Expect Shipment Delays

Not everyone, but some customers are finding our shipments are taking longer than normal to get to them. Although the Post Office is supposedly working as normal, you can imagine they have their own problems during this time. So expect orders could take slightly longer than normal, especially you folks overseas, since there are fewer planes available for your order to go out on.
